Uzomarrr12345: I always wonder , with the amount of Nigerians that go to UK , how come you hardly spot blacks or Africans in UK football stands
The answer is simple … WORK ! WORK !! WORK !!! To pay bills …
You will always be a second class citizen and a mini slave in the west , some privileges are meant for dia citizens alone … smh Whats your problem with people who travel? Why don't you stay in your shithole and let people move wherever they want to?You aren't the one to tell who is a first class or second citizen. Do what works for you Nd leave others to theirs. You seem to be investing too much energy in this thing.Face your hustle baba |
Travel › Re: What Scares You The Most About Relocating Abroad? by TheEnforcer: 8:05pm On Jan 08, 2023 |
AreaFada2: Oga, this your generalisation nor be here. The 20 billion dollar annual remittance to 9ja goes into what? I don't know of anybody in diaspora that didn't send at least £1,000 to friends and relatives in 9ja just this last December. I am talking of people I know o.
The duplex some 9ja based people built in 9ja and do big man with is less than money some diaspora people sent to assist friends and relatives over the past 10 to 15 years. I wrote on the matter in another thread some months ago. Yet the diaspora person may only have a bungalow in 9ja. This is actually an insult because many diaspora people make a great sacrifice to assist those at home.
The reason some people block those in 9ja is due the entitlement mentality of some of our people. Imagine a jobless relative or friend in 9ja asking for iPhone 13 when you yourself abroad are managing one Samsung or an older version of iPhone? Perhaps same relative or friend that couldn't run a business you helped them to set up.
People in diaspora can also fall on hard times. Job loss, increasing family size, more expenses as kids grow older, etc. So they may not be able to render help every time people ask for it. The attitude is often that if you help 10 times and refuse once, you have never helped. It is either his wicked wife or her husband has stopped them from helping their 9ja family, all his money now goes to his/her in-laws in 9ja, etc.
We all hear of the clichéd "stingy uncle in London/America". He has been abroad for 35 years. A common thread on Nairaland. But nobody cares about how the uncle or aunty has been going through life, without the moral support of people he/she grew up with. The same way life happens to many people in 9ja, so it does to many abroad too.
Mortgage might not be everybody's thing but all developed societies have used mortgage well. A time will come in 9ja, with our growing population when land use will be more regulated, land becomes very expensive and building regulations will be more rigorously enforced. You cannot just be doing foundation anyhow and anywhere anymore. The high cost of building will make mortgage inevitable. 9ja is not there yet.
As for diaspora fear, the real issues may turn out to be those you never envisaged. You can at least brace yourself for things you are already aware of. Dont mind him.Is he blaming them for blocking those people? Some can not get without asking for money.Ex will ask, friends and acquaintances and there is that entitlement mentality that he has to give them. How is that the problem of those diasporans?I see he tried to paint naija as the Eldorado but to each his own |

MakingItFair: Hello Everyone, If you succeed in receiving a visa to attend a short professional event in USA, what happens when you are given a two year visa and then at the airport you are stamped for six months? Is it correct that you can stay two full years but you must briefly leave every six months? I know of someone who is convinced that this is correct, but I believe he is setting him self up for failure later. Wise ones please weigh in, thank you. Why doesn't he go there and stay for two years then?Validity of visa is different from actual length of stay. They normally issue visas with two years validity in Nigeria and 10 years in India.Does it mean Indians can also stay for 10 years as a tourist?Visa is just an application to enter and the capital will determine how long they want you to stay which is normally six months but you better not stay for the whole of that six months if you are gonna return in the future |

Are you kidding me?They normally ask like 4 for 5 questions to ascertain your ties to Nigeria before Deciding to grant you or not.One question?Never heard that before. There's no way they are gonna ascertain your ties to Nigeria with one question. |

Travel › Re: Why There Is No Point Going To The Uk Again by TheEnforcer: 6:10am On Nov 11, 2022 |
sukkot: . there used to be a time wheN the UK was very sweet. i would not even lie to you and that era was the pre- internet days. you see the beauty of the UK back theN was that
1--- the world was not yet commercialized. it was strictly about culture and fun aNd having a great time. nobody was worried about money or making lots of it because everything was cheap. and also back in those days you could find like five of us naija guys sharing a flat and it was just fun and party all throughout and like all of us were british citizens back then ( yeah those who used to come pre-internet were mostly british citizens ) so we used to get all kinds of benefits so we didnt really have bills lol. just party life
2--- also what made the UK sweet back then was because there was no internet to tell you what it looked like, so you enjoyed it so much more because its like you are stepping into a world that you have never experienced before. there were no pictures of what to expect and so it wasnt cheapened ( no see finish ). it was all a mystery. now everything is on the internet
3---the caliber of naijas in the uk back then was quality guys and girls. now na every tom dick and harry oooo lol
4----also the fact that the nigerian market was not open back then and so there was no uk goods in naija and so when we went to naija with our uk clothes everyone looked at us like celebrities. like peoppple would be admiring your uk baffs. of course today there is even no need to go to the uk because everything in the uk can be bought in nigeria now so that aspect of it has also being cheapened. like there are levis and nikes and every shop in the uk in any mall in naija now. like you can be in naija and baff better than someone in the uk now. and so there is no need to go to the uk again. Just buy your baffs in naija and flex
5------ like i said earlier the uk was not commercialised heavily back then but now its all about money. now they can even tax you for the air you breath if they can get away with it. its like the fun has been sucked out of the country and it is now all about survival
6 ----it has become overpopulated by immigrants from all over the world. its like that unique britishness has being lost.
AND SO BROTHER THE UK WAS ONCE A SWEET PLACE BUT ITS NOW A SHITTY PLACE. LOL. I NEED TO TURN THIS INTO A THREAD LOL AND SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION BRO THERE IS NO POINT IN BEING IN THE UK AGAIN IF YOU CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO LIVE WELL IN NAIJA BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS IN NAIJA. EVERYTHING THAT IS IN THE UK IS IN NAIJA EVEN KFC AND DOMINOS AND NIKE AND APPLE AND POSCHE AND SKETCHERS ETC ETC ETC . SO IF YOU CAN DEVISE A WAY TO EARN POUNDS IN NAIJA, ITS THE PLACE TO BE Dont you have a job? Why are you posting everyday and creating threads every time about how people should not travel?why invest so much energy in this? Get a job man and leave people to do whatever works for them.you stay where you are and let them go wherever they wanna go. |

worksmart: Kudos to her!
She is a truely patriotic African, not only has she never failed to turn up to represent Nigeria at every international event, she make it a point of even returning to Nigeria every year to compete in our national championships / trials even though her selection for global champs is guaranteed and she could have used that time competing in lucrative competitions around the world.
Not really surprised by this gesture and she is not really that rich as professional track athletes are not well compensated and any year they perform below expectations, they lose the small funding they were getting, most of which is used up in travelling to competitions and paying their coaching team and agents.
This is the type of person that should be entering politics after their athletics career is over. I mean she will still recognize many of her teachers there.Track athletes don't get much as the humongous amount footballers get per week.Mbappe got 400million dollar bonus and over 2 million dollars per week.Psg and Qatar oil state have virtually sold themselves to him |
