Chapter two.

Genesis 2
New International Version
2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Adam and Eve
4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth[a] and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams[b] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the Lord God formed a man[c] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin[d] and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.[e] 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam[f] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”

24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Chapter one.

Genesis 1
King James Version
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Religion / Two Creation Stories In The Book Of genesis by TheMadame(f): 10:51pm On Jul 29, 2023
Good day brothers and sisters,
I have always been interested in why there appear to be two different creation stories in the book of Genesis.
One story is recorded in Genesis chapter one and the other story is recorded in Genesis chapter 2.
In the Genesis chapter one story the Almighty omnipotent and omniscient God wills everything into existence, while in the account in Genesis Chapter two,God appears to be more closer to his creations and appears not to be so omniscient .

Even towns like Bethel, are in praise of the deity El. BETH. EL.
Even names like Michael, and Gabriel reference the deity EL.
The god of Abraham, Isaacs and Jacob wes El.
In fact there is evidence to prove that El was worshipped in a polytheist setting.

Another chapter in the Bible that implicating worship of El as the supreme God is found in Job chapter 2 :1.

Hmmm. This is strange.

The OP has left her thread due to the rubbish, you and MaxIntheHouse2 have been posting all over the thread. Two pages and counting.....

I did not leave because of the answers. I left because of the toxic nature the thread was developing into.
Let us have a matured discourse, devoid of insults. Let everyone be free to put out their answers and let us discuss it without abuse.
If you have the answer to the questions in the OP give them to us,instead of attacking those giving their answers. Thank you in anticipation of your answers.

I just hope this is not another disguised atheist trying to start a fruitless and endless argument.

According to the Author of the Bible there was a plan to redeem mankind right after the event in the garden of Eden, God's plan was to choose one nation through which a role model will be born, this role model will replace Adam and lead OBEDIENT mankind in doing God's will.
Satan knew the plan all along so he is working round the clock to disrupt God's plan because he knew that if God should change the plan it means God has failed in the process of salvation so Satan keeps misleading the chosen nation in order not to be a good place for the Christ to begin the salvation work.
That's why God was exterminating anyone that may serve as Satan's agent in the old testament as time is going and God is eager than ever to end all badness.
So it's the same God but the reason why He stopped being brutal is because Jesus has come and has successfully commissioned the work that will see millions throughout the earth to God's kingdom.
That's why Jesus was begging his father saying:

Please forgive them because they don't grasp all these arrangement you have put in place to save them! Luke 23:34

In his final message to obedient mankind Jesus said:

Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the appointed time is near. Let the one who is unrighteous continue in unrighteousness, and let the filthy one continue in his filth; but let the righteous one continue in righteousness, and let the holy one continue in holiness" Revelations 22:10-11

When he was with his disciples in the flesh Jesus told them a parable about the salvation plan how he has come to commission a movement that will gather all obedient mankind under one umbrella, but Satan quickly implanted his agents right in the midst of Jesus' movement so the angels in heaven who knew the implication of Satan's agents asked Jesus if they should swing into action to start exterminating anyone who will serve as Satan's agents within the movement but Jesus told them to allow all to grow together after all God has poured out His active force which will continue guiding faithful people but when it's time to destroy Satan's agents Jesus will lead the angels in heaven to separate the weeds from the fine seeds the fine seeds will be stored up in Jesus' ban while all the weeds will be burnt up! Matthew 13:24-30

God bless you and may you have PEACE! smiley

Why are there different gods in the old testament as well as new testament.

Some claim they saw him in OT, others didn't in OT, some were forgiven in OT others weren't in same OT.

There is only one God in the old testament and the new testament. Only the character is different. You are confusing me with this your many God's.

There were merciful gods in the old testament as well as angry gods in the New testament

Good day to my brothers and sisters in Christianity. May the Lord be with all of us. May the Lord refresh us and give us the knowledge to attain everlasting life in heaven.
Please I write to seek knowledge on a topic which distressed me. This is the dichotomy between the God of the new testament and God in the old testament of our holy Bible.
The God in the Old testament comes across as very angry over issues, while the God of new testament comes across as kind and loving . Benevolent, forgiving, blessing and the father of all creation, while the old testament of the Bible reflects God as only for the nation of Israel. I welcome any explanation with Bible passages to enlighten
God bless as you contribute to this discourse. Apologies for poor spelling and please let us avoid insulting language.
Thank you.

Your questions are critical questions.
But the Virgin birth been the foundation of Christianity is False, Christ Resurrection is the Basis of Christianity and on that ground is the subject of dispute with other religions.

They are certain facts we need to know about the Bible and that will help you judge properly. It is a compilation and documentation of things that happens, reason why one can read it just like a Story book, imagine it and even act movies with it...Unlike other holy books that looks uncomprehensive.
The 66 books were what the church thik will be important to the Faith. Their are many other books & letters, like that of Mary Magdalin, St Jerome and others new apostles. and of course you should be certain not everything written by Paul in his 14 chapters were exacts..The church through it's scholars will edit and cut some parts.

On the first bolded, there are Christian schools that will disagree with your postulation. While some Christian school of thought believe the resurrection is the foundation of Christianity other schools of thought regard the virgin birth as the foundation because of trinity issues-God, son and holy ghost. Some sects even believe in the perpetual virginity of mother Mary. So to them they will obviously regard the virgin birth as the foundation. So your first point is subject to debate.

As for the second bolded, we need not sugar coat issues on how the biblical cannon was established. There were many various Christian sects by the time Rome adopted Christianity as the official religion. The sects that had the ears of the emperor became the most powerful sects, used the power of the emperor to persecute the weaker sects, confiscated all their religious books and destroyed/burnt them. The books of these powerful sects are what became the Christian holy bible by the power of Rome and we're ratified by the Nicene, Constantinople councils and the various creeds thereafter.

There is NO need to mention me about the above Chapter of the bible because I already know about it word for word.
As I said before the knowledgeable Christian's already know about this first virgin birth and know that the author of Mathew for reasons best known to him decided to ascribe it to the second virgin birth of Jesus.
Thank you. Like I said before I do not wish to comment on this thread again.

7 When Ahaz(A) son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin(B) of Aram(C) and Pekah(D) son of Remaliah(E) king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.

2 Now the house of David(F) was told, “Aram has allied itself with[a] Ephraim(G)”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken,(H) as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.

3 Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub,[b](I) to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field.(J) 4 Say to him, ‘Be careful, keep calm(K) and don’t be afraid.(L) Do not lose heart(M) because of these two smoldering stubs(N) of firewood—because of the fierce anger(O) of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.(P) 5 Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah’s(Q) son have plotted(R) your ruin, saying, 6 “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.” 7 Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord sayssadS)

10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, 11 “Ask the Lord your God for a sign,(AB) whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.(AC)”

12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.(AD)”

13 Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David!(AE) Is it not enough(AF) to try the patience of humans? Mark and John do not mention the virgin birth because it NEVER happened. Take away the 1st chapters of Luke and Mathew that talk about a virgin birth and then you realise the virgin birth is not mentioned anywhere by any of the Christian founding fathers.
The virgin birth was similar to other virgin births of other man gods in Ancient Rome. The virgin birth was a clever insertion into the bible by the writers of Luke and Mathew gospels and that is why Paul does not talk about it in his numerous letters because such an event was not known to the early Christians.
You guys need to do a little research and stop being afraid to ask questions!
