chrisj2: I really do not know precisely what it entails to renew a Nigerian passport talk less of a 'lost' Nigerian passport. All I know is that they want you to report it to the Police, probably going to get some sworn affidavit of some sort, then probably provide them with details of lost passport and where and when and how etc. Then you have the rest of the process of renewing a passport.
I do not understand why one needs anything other than a certified and signed passport photographs to renew a passport All the details of the original passport should still be on the system (just like the BVN ones) and all they need is to update the photographs which must be signed by a verifiable 'professional or clergy'. If there are other changes like addresses and marital status, titles and what else then that should be in the application form.
Like I said, Nja has lots of money and lot of advice and access to sophisticated ways of doing things including experts from other countries but we prefer the ignorant and most difficult way for our people; and more expensive way too - they have to have there bribes otherwise why 5 years passports?
* I got the UK renewal in less than 2 weeks and did not have to leave home - all online except sending the photos and old passport which actually did not even need signing by anyone (just one passport photo) and I was informed by text throughout the process. In fact they texted me to inform that my passport had 3 months left - so they encouraged me to renew.
** Is this possible in Nja - yes of course, I remember sitting next to an oyinbo man on flight who was a consultant on a big IT project in Nja... - All the resources are there already and they should know what to do... I've not lost mine oh....was asking of a renewal...mine expires 2020 tho....just wanna know the prerequisites b4 d day comes... |

chrisj2: I am same situation as yourself but I am in the UK and the process is just very hard especially for folks that do not live in London or have plenty of time to waste...
The process of renewal of a lost passport is far more difficult than getting a new one - reporting to the Police in the UK means nothing as they do not link with the Nigerian system and they are really not that bothered with other passports. Moreover, I think I actually lost mine at MMA on the very first time that I used the passport - it was probably stolen during the palaver of the being checked by immigration and other hangers-on or was pinched (pick-pocketed) on my way to the car park by those annoying folks that follow you around for currency exchanges and/or help with luggage. It might even have been retained by one of the checkers - MMA hassle! Passport now expired anyway!
Anyway, the Nigerian Embassy ask for so many things that I will not be able to supply easily - so not worth getting another passport in the UK. I will travel with a VISA and renew passport in Nigeria - more expensive but hey ho; will try to make the money back by working and not wasting it on travelling to London and missing work/pay...
* Finally back to your situation: I do not think it is wise to apply for a new passport as a First Time applicant without telling them about the lost passport... The system should find out anyway but then this is the Nigerian system where an adult passport expires after just 5 years and you have to go back do more biometrics - hello! The biometrics do not change - so why are we just being so ignorant in Nigeria? Does one still need a guarantor to RENEW one's passport? |

SAMBARRY: exactly what I was about saying
Op do you know how much house rent is alone talkless OF other bills
The cheapest and decent house in Lagos is starting FROM 100k upwards and that is even self contained
If you're talking about 3 bedroom flat it's 200k upwards
Abi you want to live in face me I slap you where over 24 people will be sharing one toilet and bathroom, where they'll be stealing your wife's pant or your clothes.when you're fuckig your wife your neighbours will know and when your neighbours are having sex you will know.that one is gbo gbo ero house. Everyone will be in your buisness giving you solicited and unsolicited advice ON how to live your life.meanwhile your neighbours can be hemp smoker or drunkard. It's 24k per year but I can assure you you won't enjoy your life living there
You will still pay nepa bills buy generator fuel it (especially when the kids start coming ) Your wife has needs you will satisfy her otherwise she's leaving. A woman's tolerance level to poverty differs You will buy food stuffs To refill gas cooker you're talking of 4,500 The cheapest private school in Lagos is at least 80k.how do you want to cope?
You better get your priorities straight. Marriage is not your problem now get a job or start a buisness, get comfortable before you turn to a wretched frustrated and angry or violent man Abeg where and how i fit get that 24k/yr apartment please. |

HungerBAD: Rest in peace beauty.
There is nothing mysterious about deaths. For the fact that a person looks healthy, does not necessarily mean they are healthy.
Everybody carries a private medical secret, that they will never divulge to anybody,no matter what.
And if anything happens to them, people are usually astounded;especially if the person looks healthy.
How many people here do a comprehensive medical check up twice a year? HIV,BP,Herpes,Pile,Diabetes, low and high blood sugar contents,Hepatitis and Depression?
There must be a medical explanation for her death. It's good to see Nigerians are graduating into more of intellectuals and less of superstitious. However it is important to know that even Medicine sometimes dunno the cause of somethings and this occurence is called Idiopathic. |

phantom: Try and make a decision and fast. Weigh all options. study hard and nail the professional exams(very well o!). competition is high especially in the US where doctors from other countries(particularly those indians wey i no know whether dem carry magnet for head) are also trying to get into the system. I have a friend who smashed the USMLE(chick is very brilliant!Queens college to university of ibadan) and had 3 offers from different centers. She had to choose one.
Bottomline is study hard! Also know that certain specialties are difficult to get in the US......as a Nigerian, prepare to settle for internal medicine, family med or paediatrics. I dont know what the UK situation is these days.
Make up your mind fast! consultants in Nigeria, employed primarily by the ministry of health(FMCs) start from 600k.Professors,800-1mill Doctors in the University system(employed primarily by the ministry of education),that lecture AND provide clinical services in the teaching hospitals earn a little less than their counterparts who work only in the hospital.
In the US you are looking at 150-500 grand PER ANNUM,depending on specialty. Great pay but you must also remember your taxes and malpractice issues. so both options have their pros and cons. Make up your mind! cheers. Sir i heard O & G is also easy to get in the US... Is that true pls? |

Kennisch: I think I'm in a good position to answer sm of your queries. first I am a local govt doc inEdo state where I have not seen salary alert in 6mo. Also, I am booked for plab2 March 29, 2016. however, I have applied for visa 2x and have been refused 2x! they just dwelt on my financial status. input money in my account in January at diff times to make up 750k wch is more than my planned expenditure but they went on poking holes at every junction from - no salary evidence in account to "your disposable income is too small to account for what you have on your bank statement" to "I don't see why your sponsor will want to sponsor your trip" to you have no right to appeal. all these were despite the fact that I submitted my MDCN full reg cert, my PLAB 1 result and plab 2 booking (booked since Jan 5th), my land documents, wedding cert, UK sponsor who sent his bank statement, council tax bills, employment letter, British resident permit etc. they didn't even consider these ones. Currently confused and depressed cos my money don lost so. I had also booked Salehis course which he has agreed we to postpone to Batch R. my advise, start putting money into one account weekly so it wld be like extra income, add the No Salary story to your letter of introduction, if you want sm1 to be your sponsor, he shld pay money into your account to show that you have a financial relationship etc. Don't rush your visa application. my dad is a British citizen, can't even use him cos it further raises suspicions. UKVI are just bastards jare. they have been refusing ppl anyhow recently even at the slightest chance. if you have money, visit another country then return - that boosts your immigration history too. wish you luck doc! You mean they still denied you Visa even though you had a British Residency Permit? How is that possible? |

rugged7: ANSWERS Guy, u don't have parallax. I said 12,000£. It is not a typo error
1.We are talking from level of Junior doctors. But note that laws are fluid and could affect this at some point eg Junior doctors contarct will change from april 2016. Either way, its still a better option than naija 2.Advise that u complete minimum of house job and youth service 3. ielts plab 1 and 2 minimum requirements. extensive/international/u.k Experience boosts marketability 4. As per tax issues; lol there are ways around the thing which i can't reveal online. Ur locum people go handle am 4 u. Even if u dont like work and u decided to work 2 weeks in a month only. U could still earn baseline £2800-£4000 5. Depends on where u live. in london more expensive. As u head towards scotland/wales maybe cheaper. Lets assume u make only 2k a month. Even if u spend 1k a month on utilities and rent. u can still save £1k= naira350,000/month 6.guy u work however u feel comfortable. there is flexibility 7. Become a consultant and u'll find out. fewer hours, more money 8.Some specialties are more difficult than others to get in. But indians and pakis are getting in because they collaborate among themselves. the consultants help out the juniors. The Nigerians will stab u in the back or hide information. the nigerian consultant don't even want to be associated with u. Personally, i think itz an inferiority complex Also try and join MANSAG or some association. may be helpful All said and done, you can do whatever u want to do. ur mind is ur only limitation A couple friends got neurosurgery 9.There are always openings. U.K Laws change anytime. Difficult to predict. 10.USMLE residency is more certain. IF u can pass 1st time. The more u fail, the harder it becomes. PLAB is faster and possibly easier to pass. If ur a sharp guy, u can round up ielts plab 1 and 2 in 6 months. Start working and raise money for USMLE exams in between USMLE no be beans. You have to be well prepared b4 u write it. Of recent, I've seen a lot of ??ABSU-?abia state university doctors both in U.S and U.K and they seem to be doing very well You hv to make up your own mind what u want. So that when u f-up, u can't blame anyone else.
My heart broke for nigeria when some consultants i knew left nigeria to write PLAB. Fear catch me sha. They complained of inability to pay school fees of their children, insecurity, poor remuneration, strikes, poor diagnostics etc My Naija peops don't stay in Nigeria... MOVE Especially now that u are young SA, U.K, U.S.A, Australia,Even western/Eastern europe sef MOVE!! NO LIMITS!! Naija no dey carry last You can always come back to Nigeria to practice when ur old/retired abroad/ or litigation has damaged ur credit line abroad How far bro... Please tell me all i need to know about Australia like you told this homie about UK. I'm feeling you ma nigga |

naijadocs: Right now the best place to go is UK through plab as they need a lot of doctors, US if you dont have work permit visa or residency its very hard getting into a residency system because no one will want to sponsor since competition is fierce. It is even worse in Canada even with your PR, canada is the most difficult country to get in an practise as a doctor so guys migrating there bear in mind so you dont go there and end up been lab scientist, cab drivers or street sweepers as some of my friends. Right now UK is very much open and they need doctors all you have to do is pass the IELTS AND PLAB exams and if after passing them and you get your GMC licence and cant get a job just send me a message and email and i can assure you of one. Now the exams are becoming tougher and more expensive and the gates wont be open forever and UK is very unstable with policies so the earlier you jump on the boat the better. Some guys on Locum earn as much as 10k pounds monthly which is quite incredible and also compared to the quality of life. For more information on this and more kindly send me an email to naijadocsconsulting@gmail.com. Why waste your time in Nigeria earning peanuts take the courageous step and no pain no gain. £10,000 monthly? Guy sofree oh |
