Crime › Re: Yetunde Akilapa Arraigned In Court For Theft (Photo) by themodernman: 9:37pm On Jul 05, 2018 |
goldcoinhub: Yoruba actress and film maker, Yetunde Akilapa, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with break-in and stealing valuables worth N7 million.
The actress, 32, who lives at No.7, Oladelola St., Ketu area of Lagos, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing to which she pleaded not guilty, NAN reports.
Police Prosecutor Benson Emuerhi told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 27 at No. 14/16, Mutairu St., Shangisha, Ketu, a suburb of Lagos, at 2.10 p.m.
According to him, the accused was apprehended while trying to enter the apartment of the complainant, Adeboye Lamidi.
Mr Lamidi alleged that he was in his sitting room when he noticed someone was trying to open the door to his apartment with a key from outside.
Ms Akilapa used a different key to unlock the door of the complainant house but was caught in the act, he said.
“l peeped through the door hole and l saw the accused trying to open my door with a key.”
The prosecutor also alleged that the accused on November 16, 2015 at 3.00 p.m. broke into the residence of Oyinlola Tuga by unlocking the door with a master key.
Tuga, who lives at No. 39A, Ayodele Okeowo St., Gbagada Soluyi in Lagos, reported that the accused stole jewellery, bags and other valuables worth N7 million.
“Tuga alleged that after raising alarm that his house had been burgled, his neighbours told him that they saw the accused parked her car with registration no. MUS 689 CZ in front of the complainant’s house.
“They challenged her and found the stolen items and a hundred bunch of keys on her.
“The accused was apprehended and handed over to the police at Ifako Police Station,” he said.
Ms Akilapa came into the film industry in 2013 and acted in a Yoruba film, “ Ileri-Oluwa’’, which brought her to limelight.
The actress was earlier reported to be in the news for stealing and breaking into people’s homes years ago and has been on the police wanted list for the past three years.
The actress was in the news in February 2013 when it was reported that she was arrested for robbery by the police in Alade, Somolu area of Lagos.
She was sent to the Kirikiri Prison and after a few months, she regained her freedom in November 2013.
On January 12, 2014, she was again caught trying to steal with a bunch of master keys hidden in her brassiere at a house in Magodo Phase 2.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 307 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing, while Section 307 prescribes seven years for burglary.
The Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties.
Mrs Sule-Amzat said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until October 22.

Crime › Re: Sierra Leone Nurse Jailed For 15 Years For Raping Patient In A London Hospital by themodernman: 4:28pm On Jul 05, 2018 |
ChangeIsCostant: An African nurse has been jailed for 15 years following his conviction for rape in London.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the Sierra Leone man named Mohamed Kamara, 47, of Fleming Way, SE28 was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on Thursday, 5 July. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period and will be made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Kamara had been convicted at the same court on Thursday, 3 May.
The court heard that the victim was being treated at an east London hospital where Kamara worked as a nurse.
On 15 May 2017, he raped her before threatening her in an attempt to prevent her contacting police.
The woman told her daughter what had happened and she reported it to police.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command launched an investigation and Kamara was arrested.
Detective Constable Elli Amson, said: "Kamara deliberately preyed on a very vulnerable woman. He targeted her whilst employed in the capacity as a registered mental health nurse and this is a clear breach of trust and abuse of his position.
"I would like recognition to be given to the victim who, in such awful circumstances, found the strength to disclose this traumatic event to her daughter and come forward, despite still remaining in the hospital where the offence took place. Her bravery is truly commendable.
"If anyone has any further information regarding this male please contact the Metropolitan Police."

pocohantas: IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR TRIBE. It must be a salesman role, one of its prerequisite, is knowledge of the sales location. It makes it easier for you to manoeuvre with little or no stress/cost. It is also believed you will have your own target market.
The problem here is, the HR goofed. The onus was on them to state the location factor while advertising the vacancy or send invites to people who meet that criteria. That was the point you should have been dropped, not at the final interview. Anyway, that's the Nigerian HR for you.
Next time, always tailor your CV to suit whatever role you are applying for. It helps. That's the problem with all this human resources people, them go just dey call anybody they feel like....most of them have zero knowledge what the Oga at the top is looking for...nonsense. |

lamidebaby: I have to agree with you in the embassy scenario. Personally I think we are being too sentimental here to be objective. Let's ask ourselves this question: If the victim had turned out to be a much wanted criminal (eg Shekau or Evans) will we be saying the same thing? I bet this same policeman would have turned a hero overnight. How would you in your right mind refuse to stop at a check point at 3am? Let's paint the scenario (yes there may be one or two flaws in it) as majority of us here have been corp members before: We have the big boys (corpers from well to do homes who have cars or ready access to this, or resident working class guys) go clubbing with fellow corper girls in celebration of POP, they are returning at the ungodly hour of 3am most likely under the influence of alcohol, refuse to stop for the routine check (common with children of the elites) you can practically hear the other occupants urging him on not to mind them, maybe one dissenting voice... the rest as we say is history. Even well trained snipers miss fast moving targets so the concept of shooting the tyres is largely theoretical.
Our grouse should be well directed, it's the hospital especially those staff on duty and the management that refused to effect the policy of saving life first that should be lynched in the court of public opinion as well as prosecuted.
Don't hate me. Just my honest opinion. Infact even if the sniper gets the target, it's unwise to aim at a fast moving tyre, the bullet could ricochet off to somewhere else or even back to the shooter making it look like "back to the sender!" . And we Nigerians wey crave and enjoy superstitions b4. You got a bootylicious banging body by the way. It has been proved tho thay the hospital was not at fault, she was already severely extravasated b4 she got to the hospital. Once again Nigerians with the bashing of their doctors. Someone drinks to stupor, drives like crazy, disobeys police orders, gets shot, lost huge amounts of blood and attended to quickly in the hospital, but the easiest person to pass the blame "bulk" to are the poor doctors who no get weyrey reach for head. That girl in yankee was right afterall, Naija is actually for mad people. |

They're inborn traits in the genetic makeup that forms our behaviour. So no, not every behaviour is learnt. Heck crave for sex isn't even a "behaviour", it's a darn instinct.
