dayokanu:Wow! You were around a long time dude. I was a member of the SRC during the "Revolution" regime. You missed that regime. It came right after Burkina was pursued out the school over the Fanta House Party money scandal. I'm not quite sure if Obesere is still in school though, but I left him there. MM on the other hand claimed he was robbed when he contested the post of Secretary General (SUG) by Saburi. BTW, do you know Saburi was expelled from school? Wait a minute, Dayo, are you "Ola Rotimi" the PRO during "Revolution"'s regime? |
dayokanu:Wow! Then you're a Great Awoite then. Were you still in school during the reigns of Dr. 3A's, Tony Fash, etc.? Tpia, sorry if you found that very offensive. I didn't mean for it to come out to you like that. It was just an expression and I didn't specifically related that to you, rather I did to the generalization of what people requested. Again, sorry! |
Lady's beautiful from back in the days. @Dayo, where did you stay in Ife? Faj, Awo, PG, ETF or Angola (although for jambites)? Or you stayed off campus? |
what's that supposed to mean? are you people killers? FL Gators:Yes, you're right. If it's not from you, then there ain't no feeling good. Anyways, did I tell you I was looking at some booties downside Gainesville? Now, the only person that can get me outta Fla is Christie Charlie. Remember, no California marriage, and we're signing a prenup.Oyinda, sorry jare. I was having a very very . . . .uhm . . . . nice day. So what's up with C2? @Platinumnk, my marriage with Gators is still being processed. She wants a California wedding and no prenup. I don't do sharing; there's no love in sharing when it has to do my investments If she insists, then I will only have a Chevy '89 to my name, others will be in my first son's name(Ronald Reagan). ![]() |
OgidiBoy:Don't mind that girl. She likes to run her mouth, but she's a good girl sha. ![]() |
i'm beginning to suspect it's theseeker. see how he keeps "passing by" and making multiple comments feeling good to himself. lol
Please, if you're so voracious to pick on someone, don't start with me. What's wrong that I'm making comments on this? I'm enjoying the whole episodes as they unfold and how has that got to be linked with me? Couldn't you have linked it with someone else? Leave me out of your observation, suspicion or whatever you call it ![]() |

youngies:Says who? What does 'wawa' mean? Do you know why they are called 'wawa' people? |
Where are those few women who are entrepreneurial and have great business ideas? What happened to them? Must every woman dig men's pockets and bank accounts? |
Oyinlola's Osun state university project is a complete sham, I learnt. Campuses and schools scattered all over the state. |

"And I ain't saying she a gold digger, but she don't messing with no broke niggaz . . . . ." |
IFELEKE:Yes, I think I remember that. I heard about a mild war between him and Omisore(his deputy). According to sources close to Akande, they say he's a very stingy man. Checked out his profile and yes, I can safely say he was a good governor. I support his move to have some unqualified teachers retrenched(what's the use of an english language teacher who can't make a simple sentence?). He tried to reform the education sector but as it is, people aren't always satisfied. I think he was more concerned about building Osun state than seek a re-election. |
Ogidi, is that you and Gators? ![]() |
but looking at the present cabinet, I dont think non-indigenes outnumber indigenes. At least not that I can see so far. Tinubu probably had more outsiders in his own administration because he traced his roots to another state outside lagos. And are you certain there were more non-lagosians? ![]() I also noticed among the Yoruba, its quite common for relatives and friends to pressure a man into taking another wife, even if he prefers to be monogamous. Especially traditional families, though this attitude can also be found in Christian ones. If the man and his wife resist the pressure to be polygamous, his relatives can attack the wife and blacklist her for not allowing her husband to take on extra wives. To me, this is a very puzzling mentality.
First of all, what I'm trying to say is Lagos state is the only state where a non indigene is appointed as a commissioner or to hold any other political office; it's been happening for some time now. No matter how minimal, Lagos state will always have an outsider in its cabinet and that's what you'll never see anywhere. About Tinubu's nativity, do you think he just found that out when he was already the governor? He didn't have more outsiders in his cabinet because he traced his roots back to Iragbiji, Osun state(which the king of Iragbiji denied), he did because of the fact that he believed some non indigenes could do the job. Two of his cabinet members who contested in the last elections are, Aregbesola(Osun guber candidate) and Fayemi(Ekiti guber candidate). Tinubu might not be a lagosian really but he is an ardent lagosian at heart. Do you know what position her mom holds in Lagos state? About the marriage thing, yes, it's most common among Yoruba. That's because families are always getting their dirty noses in people's business. They won't let you be. Yoruba has a character which I detest very much; they don't look out for the best in your wife, they look for her flaws so they'd attack from there. Thyey like their sons to marry who they(the family) can control and tell what to do. They always set their eyes on his assets. If the man doesn't want to get married to another woman, they can make him(there are voodoos). |
What planet are you typing from again? You're so 2008 years late. ![]() |
isnt Fashola himself a Lagos indigene? likewise most of his cabinet thus your statement is null and void ![]() If I'm reading you wrong then ignore the post.
All his cabinets aren't lagosians. Two of them are igbo. Some are from Ekiti and Ogun and most of them from Ekiti. Tinubu's cabinet had more non lagosians as members. So Miss, you read wrongly.
anything else on Yoruba culture or Osun state? Everyone seems to have run out of relevant stuff to post, hence the toasting all through the thread. I myself am short of topics and questions. The only other thing that hasnt been discussed is Yoruba religion eg Ifa, but most people know about that anyway. Polygamy too- why is it so deeply entrenched among Yorubas. Is this a side effect of the neo-Arabic culture commonly found in Africa.
Polygamy in Yoruba land came into existence, as one elderly man once told me, when fathers had big farms(cocoa and kolanut farms) and they'd need a lot of people to work on them. In a bid to amass their wealth, they get married to more wives and have more kids just so there'd be increase in the work force on their farms. That's the only reason I know about. That was why back in the day, the rich ones had more wives and more children. But contemporarily, I think it borders more on the fact that some people are used to having many wives, or some are pressured into marrying another wife probably because the current can't give birth to a particular gender(male especially). Some think they've arrived wealth and fame hence, need new wives. Kings get married to as many wives as they can because they can without being questioned. |
Wow!!!! Isn't that just so beautiful? ![]() |
FL Gators:No California or I'll change all the names on my assets from mine to my first son's. ![]() |
