From the pictures, I can see why Explorers conducts himself with maturity on this forum.

Awesome Couple!

This wedding took place earlier in December 2016. Apparently, it has not stopped Mr Explorers from releasing his trademark "Hit" educative threads. Dat one shows good multi-tasking skills.

Explorers, I salute you. May God bless your union bountifully in multiple dimensions...

Congrats

I know that, but its very surprising that a graduate cannot teach a primary 2 and primary 5 pupils. Even when the textbooks contains lots of solved examples. If she is an average student, i will understand. But the truth is that she is below average. Somebody that cannot write a formal and an informal letter, cannot send text message with a simple and correct english and does not even know her "safe period". In this era, a graduate cannot or does not know how to use the computer, does not know what Facebook, Whatsapp, etc is all about. I begin to imagine if the person is in this part of the world. Im complaining, and some persons are telling me that if i truly love her, i should over look all her faults. What kind of love are they talking about? A situation i will tell her to remove the clothe she is wearing and wear another one, and she ignores me. If its you, can you take such? I bought a car for her last year, she will also expect me to fuel the car for on every two days. She is expected to use the car to take my kids to school and bring them back, but she will use the car to run round the whole town and expects me to fuel it and my own car. If she was working or doing business, is she not the person to fuel the car? Must i be the one to do everything? My building project has stopped for over a year because no money to continue. We are still living in a rented apartment. The lady that you call your wife will not want to do anything to assist in the up-keep of the family. Of a truth, i married her when i have not gotten a job but she was not the person that contributed to my getting a job. We were dating when i was writting my professional exams (ICAN), if was reasonable and ready to learn, will she not have joined me seeing that we studied the same course in the university? For your information, I met her in the university. I was just a year ahead of her.

Thank you too sir.

I really wish you found a way out of this. But it is also obvious that while you have done a lot of things for her, you are now irritated by her actions and presence, which is understandable, but not beneficial in the long run. You still need to respect her as your wife and not see her as a pesky irritant. Afterall, you married her and frankly, I'm surprised you didn't notice any of the signs even if you were unemployed then.

If you are able to make her see reason with you and know that you still value her, it should make the job of agreeing on and implementing her areas of development easier for both of you. The important thing is that she needs to recognize herself as a vital part of your marriage team, working for the best interests of the family as a whole; This is your most important task.

Nonetheless, in implementing the above, please take into account her natural or intellectual limitations. Hence, things like ICAN should be out of it as it is even difficult enough for the intelligentsia. You will do best in structuring her developmental initiatives along her areas of interest. Though, you can also stretch her in areas like grammar, dressing, watching good intellectually stimulating movies and reading some books and general knowledge. In these areas, you will need to be very proactive to achieve results.

Haba, all these to-dos within your already tight schedule. God will help you brother. Marriage is not for the faint-hearted.

Toks2008:
I will be very blunt with you bro. .you are your own problem.

Yes there are three sides to every story which is his version her version and the truth but I will advice you based on the version you just presented.

You seem to be very autocratic in your dealings with her...for Petes sake why force education on her?

If she says she is done with schooling then let her be...now she said she wants to start food stuff biz which I see as an excellent idea and you spoilt everything with your domineering attitude asking her to go learn pooh...for Petes sake START SMALL and stop your big man approach to business.

You don't need to learn businesses you love from jack but you learn from your own experience and I'm telling you this authoritatively as an entrepreneur.

Please follow her dream and support her.

as for spoken English just buy her materials to improve herself and tell her to be humble enough to apologize in public over her poor command before communicating and that does the magic. ..who Grammer epp?

As for the children part you have all the blame..there are many options of family planning even without the use of condom so explore one.

As for the dress sense that is a simple issue...just pack all the cloths you hate to see on her and give it out then take her to boutique and replace them with the type you want to see on her..shikenah.

Bro as I wrote..your wife no get wahala...you are your own problem so deal with it.

Sorry if I sound harsh but I just have to be blunt on this. Remain blessed.
Hey Toks, you and many other nairalanders are making generalizations and superficial simplistic assumptions without proper analysis of the facts presented by the Op.

I agree with you that the situation does not warrant divorce as it can be resolved. However, saying that it's largely the Ops fault may be a little narrow-minded.

The key issue to the Op is that his wife is intellectually inhibited and not motivated to improve herself. To this end, the Op desires some sort of continuous improvement in his wife to personally enjoy the marriage. There is no rule or law in marriage that stipulates that the interests of a particular family are important while those of another are mundane. Consequently, wanting your spouse to improve in a certain area is not condemnable by any standards.

In essence, the personal elements that the Op considers vital to a successful marriage may be different from yours or others. You cannot however limit or condition the Ops familial happiness within the context of your own personal preferences. That would be parochial.

By buying brighter grammar for her and pledging 1.5m for her business, the Op has actually taken concrete steps to enable her improve, but marriage is a two-way sacrifice. The wife should not be comfortable in being unprogressive, even in her own areas of interest. And her excuse cannot be child-bearing and cooking skills as some are insinuating!

The Op desires to enjoy his spouse and not "endure" or "manage" the lifelong situation as many Nigerian families are currently doing. Indeed I know of a few families in the Op's situation where the husband does not see an issue with his wife's actual or relative illiteracy or lack of ambition; and others whose marriages are threatened as a result or others who simply manage the situation by deriving satisfaction from external quarters. Saying his wife should be left stagnating is not healthy for the family development, especially when the husband and the kids are progressing.

In summary, the Op should be more diplomatic in dealing with her and try to win her over before actively participating in the developmental initiatives they both agree on. I agree with you on the dressing. However, the Op is right to insist that she learn under an experienced dealer to increase the chances of success at her intended trade. There is a reason why feasibility studies are done even if it is tomatoes you want to sell. Moreover, the Op is simply adding value to her from his own knowledge of financial management.

All the best Op.

Op haba! If Dbanj didn't have a good 2016, U can as well say Davido/Wizkid, Flavour did not have a good year as well which is untrue.

D, banj's emergency was a massive hit as you rightly said, how then can you say he did not make a strong impact musically since d breakup? That's a contradiction in itself.

Dbanj also featured in a lot of European tours like in Uk this year, and has been in the news for positive reasons a lot of times this year.

I think Dbanj had a successful year based on the above. Including him in there therefore suggests a biased and unobjective opinion from your side.

Nice one bro, u were really a pro. I think I've read the Rebel. Was it about a tribe setting in eastern Africa and some land tussle between the main characters and the subsequent introduction of the white man and his "Gun" which was superior to the local weapons? If it is, then its got to be one of the finest most interesting African reads. Simply unputdownable!

My own other reads not previously mentioned include:
Arrows of God - Chinua Achebe
My Father's Daughter - Mabel Segun ( very emotional)
A gift to the troubled tribe- Segun Okunoren (my best part was when Dawda backflipped the leopard and macheted it)
Near the Rainbow
Horombo

Foreign
A tale of two cities
Ivanhoe
Robinson Crusoe
Beyond Pardon - Sir Lionel Rydal & Lady Lynn
Moby dick
Sherlock holmes

and many others. between, is there a difference between the passport of mallam illya and an African Nights Entertainment? Methinks they may be the same books.

Politics › Re: Why We Are Buying N4.7billion Worth Of Cars- Nigeria Senate. by ThierryJay:
God, this is terrible, laughable and outright shocking!

The reasons are so lame and totally unacceptable. Just imagine, from the report,:

- the vehicles are to be used for execution of committee assignments. So Saraki alone requires 10 new vehicles to carry out his duties?

- they claimed that they were extremely frugal and responsible and that's why they are spending only 4.7billion on the cars. In essence, they would have spent 47billion, but just decided to pity we nigerians small

-the media should assist them in shoving this down our throats! What an insult on our collective intelligence! A modicum of economical, financial and social intelligence would have made these guys understand that spending that amount, especially at this time of economic harshness, would be deemed grossly insensitive and untenable!

I give up. Our lawmakers are irredeemable.

Trevor is over rated and if it has been healing asthma, the news would have gone viral. I wouldn't condemn Trevo as I know it's generally good for the body and could help your body supplement or lost nutrients and ensure well treats of the tissues and cells. This could help reduce the asthma because most people suffer due to poor management and food like yam, bread, cold weather, dust and perfume could trigger it. I don't like to see people sick. I have had relatives who suffer from this and my uncle is a doctor.
U are mostly right dude. Trevo is not tailored specifically for asthma but for general improved and sound health. However u have to consider that most reported cases of healed asthma were actually cases of proper drug/disease management. There are still conditions that may cause a relapse e.g teargas/Snipper. So there's no proven absolute cure yet.

Consequently, I wouldn't call any therapy that would better manage asthma over-rated.
Art, Graphics & Video › Re: Who Dies In This Picture? by ThierryJay: 2:06pm On Nov 03, 2014
Lmao funniest comments to a great puzzle. There's really no single answer as there are different possibilities based on different assumptions.

The most likely outcomes are;

1) Only B dies. as the wedge on the see-saw will likely catapult the high-velocity moving ball onto an unfortunate B. A seems out of reach.

2) Nobody dies if the ball does not have enough momentum to flip over the wall protecting B

3) B and C dies alone. B for the reasons stated above and C cos although the hollow ball has less weight than the other ball, it's momentum plus gravity gives it a greater thrust force which temporarily pushes the see-saw down enough to seal C's death wish.

D appears to be safe but there are other factors that may kill him. If the hollow part of the ball does not fit properly or the stoneball does not rotate down perfectly. But that E guy wicked pass Hitler sef .

TREVO supplements or other supplements have no proven efficacy against asthma.. Please don't waste your time, money and hope on supplements that will fail u.. Before you try out anything also try and check up on the internet to substantiate what anyone tells you.. And you also need to get that kid back to the hospital.. See a specialist if possible she shouldn't be using close to that much..
Well, I have used Trevo before and I can certainly say that it noticeably improved my chronic condition when I was using it. The frequency of my attacks was reduced. and I felt much more active and energetic. it may not have cured it, but it helped manage it.

However, Trevo is quite expensive (abt 10-12k) lasting for only a month. So I'm thinking of trying out the moringa option.

edi287:
Giggs better than henry, cantona, bergkamp, viera??...This list was def compiled by a bunch of morons.

For the guys talking about trophies; well Pedro and Busquets have won more trophies than cr7...does that make them better than cr7??
U and many others misunderstand the intent of the list. It's not about who is the better player but who has had greater impact/influence while playing in the EPL. it's for this reason that CR7 who didn't score up to 100 epl goals in 6 seasons is in 6th position. his Madrid exploits don't count.

Players who have won trophies at the highest level, received international recognition, played for many EPL seasons will be deemed greater than those who performed brighter for only one or two seasons. This is why Giggs is no 1 and why Nicky butt is ranked higher than JayJay okocha.

For the records, I think Thierry Henry has produced the greatest scintillating and consistent world class performances ever seen in the premier league and as such should be the greatest EPL player. However I understand the rationale for honouring Giggs for his longevity and impressive trophy haul.

In my opinion, Alan shearer should be no 2 after Henry. Beckham should be higher up cos he was nominated twice for FIFA world player of the year (99 & 2001) and came second. Michael Essien should definitely be in there as there was no better bombarding EPL powerhouse during chelsea's conquering season 04-07. Same could be said for Damien duff whom I think had more impact than scott parker. Give hazard one more top flight season performance, and he'll be in. Kanu can't be there as Wiltord isn't even there.

On the whole, fair list.
