Positivepoint:
These are pledges by China but Nigeria has to fulfill conditions for the loans to be despatched. The bottle neck is our national Assembly cutting or reducing counterpart funds or not approving the budget. E.g the Enugu international airport. Budget was cut from 500bn to 20bn in 2018 budget presentation.
Well, I am aware that the Ogun-Guangdong free trade zone (industrial park) is now operational and is being managed by Chinese administrators. If you have a company and you don't want to pay Nigerian taxes, you can apply to site your office/factory there.

Jarus:
Yes, Griezman had a very fantastic season too and I'm sure he would be in top 5 (don't be surprised if this Messi we are arguing about actually finised 5th like he did in UEFA - FIFA will publish Top 10 after final result).

However, Modric beat him in WC as MVP.

He didn't even play UCL knockout rounds not to talk of beating Salah and CR7 in UCL. I hate to say it, but Europa is for losers. No one wins award by being outstanding there.

In other words, he could not have displaced either of the 3 guys. He may displace Messi to 4th position.
I would marginally agree with Messi losing out to Salah. Individually, Messi's performance was greater than any of Modric, CR7 and Salah as he put in more consistent high quality displays throughout the season.

However, it's unfortunate that only two matches cost Messi a chance to win the best player award once again:

vs Roma - UCL second leg QF
vs Iceland - penalty missed WC

If Messi had aced those two, he would have pipped Salah and possibly CR7, who was the least consistent performer of the three nominees. Modric would still have been a favorite though.

By the way, I do not agree that Salah had a better WC, despite being half-fit, than Messi. It's not just the number of goals. Messi's solitary goal and two assists carry a greater weight than Salah's penalty and lob. Overall, Messi's efforts at the WC were superior to Salah's.

Lets wait till end of season and we will see who laf last
Ordinarily, He should score against Sassuolo in their next match at home.

And then I can imagine the headlines: "CR7 sets Serie A alight like never before!" Never mind even if it was a tap-in goal from one and a half yards or the sixth goal in a seven-goal rout. Heck, one of the tabloids reported that his bungled miskick from a few yards out in Juve's second match was an ingenious "backheel" assist to Mandzukic! lol

At a time we supposed to come together and call the bluff of some corporations that are pauperising us we see people like you who have either been brainwashed or paid huge amount defending illegality of foreign investors.
Though we don't like this government, but some of her agencies are still doing superbly well. We shall support those doing well.
Please comprehend matters well before u comment as everything should not be viewed from an Apc/Pdp angle. The issue is not about whether I like this Govt or not. In this context, doing superbly well is subjective.

My point is the illegality is only alleged. And unless there is damning evidence that the CBN has that MTN was complicit in the issuance of an invalid CCI, the negative publicity generated for MTN will be unjustified. If the banks were at fault without MTN's knowledge, then MTN should not be held liable.

Point is proper investigation should be carried out to establish the facts before sanctions are rolled out.

It's so funny that MTN is trying to hide under the kangaroo clearance it got from the Senate after bribing Saraki and other corrupt elements in the senate. It is only those who are not so conversant with happenings in the banking sector that will believe this fraudulent denial by MTN.

Apart from the sanctions that CBN intend to impose on the banks and MTN, there is an urgent need to pass a law mandating companies like MTN, Dstv, Shoprite and Glo to get listed on the stock exchange. That is the only way to ensure good corporate governance practises to an extent by these organisations. Issues like this would have been noticed a long time ago if MTN had been publishing its financial statement and making other statutory disclosure annually.
But MTN prepares detailed financial statements and submits same to a Government agency, the FIRS, every year when filing its tax returns. It would even surprise you that Withholding tax on the alleged illegally repatriated dividend was even remitted to the FIRS.
Business › Re: MTN Nigeria Denies CBN Claims On Illegal Repatriation Of $8.1b by ThierryJay: 8:45pm On Aug 30, 2018
Why should the CBN demand that the $8.3bn be refunded to it? Is the CBN the owner of the money? Even if illegally repatriated, the best CBN can do is to ask them to bring the funds back into the Nigerian financial system as the money is MTN's profits.

That being said, CBN's action has the potential of severely damaging investor confidence in Nigeria. Investors would simply perceive that the Nigerian Government is not faithful to its promises to investors as they can reverse the benefits at any time. So why should they bother coming in at all? Investors are told that there is no limit to the amount of profits they can repatriate out of Nigeria to the extent that they have a Certificate of Capital Importation (CCI) for their initial investment. If MTN obtained a CCI before, which is usually generated by Commercial Banks, why is the CBN now saying that the CCI is not valid, when it was the Nigerian financial system that issued it? Why should MTN be penalized for that?

CBN should have a proper rethink and consider the wider ramifications of this move on FDI attraction as it appears to simply be a witch-hunting attempt.

Point of correction, Barcelona were in a shambles before Pep took over as they barely qualified for the UCL in Rijkaard's final season (Came fourth) and had just been dumped out of the UCL semifinals by Man utd. It is indisputable that Pep revolutionalized Barca. Yes, Messi might have made his job easier but his intelligence was what enabled Messi to realize his full potential in the first place by eliminating unhealthy influence in the person of Ronaldinho and Deco, which also allowed Iniesta and Xavi to flourish. He also changed the way Barca played football. So don't belittle his achievements without basis.

It is such a shame that these folks commenting only do so on sentiments, rather than from a professional, objective viewpoint.

Ramos is a classical example of the good old days defender who would do just about anything to mow you down. It could have been worse during the time of Jaap Stam, Nesta, Fabio Cannavaro and former Real Madrid teammate, Pepe. It is called TACTICAL DEFENDING and last I checked, it is a part of the game

Football is strategic. Eliminate the threat to have an easy passage. However, I believe it was not even Ramos' intention to 'kill' Mo. Mo was naive though. He took the tussle seriously and got burnt bad. You don't drag the ball with the opponent when you know you'd likely be the target. His inexperience implicated him on the night.

Either way, with or without Salah, Liverpool was never going to win that match. The pointers were there. They have horrible defenders, a sorry goalkeeper and a loose midfield. Salah might have motivated his team mates to an extent but the hand writing was too visible.
On the contrary, Liverpool had a very good chance to win with Salah. His threat was so evident in the first 25 mins when Real madrid were all over the place. His positioning and ability to draw defenders also afforded Mane and Firmino to trouble the other defenders. And on the night, Liverpool's defence was actually good as underscored by the only goal they legitimately conceded, Bale's otherworldly goal which is by no means a shameful goal to concede(Barring Karius' fiasco which they had no control over)

Liverpool's problem was that their winning formula was overly dependent on Salah. Once he came off, the attack went limp as Mane had to fill in that role (which he tried for the most part). However, that rendered Firmino and lallana useless. It is no coincidence that Madrid immediately assumed dominance once Salah went off which they never really relinquished. Madrid's quality in depth could not have been more emphasized.

Now to Ramos. A lot of things has been said about him. He was smart, wise ...etc as he identified and nullified the threat which is acceptable in football. Well, Salah might have been a bit naive going head-on with the challenge against Ramos, but one cannot take away the fact that Ramos wrestled him down which was a foul and a yellow card. However, I will never know whether he intended to break Salah's collarbone with that move.

"So my point is, with Salah, the handwriting was not that visible as you stated, it was completely blank. And without Salah, Real madrid went on to write history on the sheets."

Big Brother Africa. This program is the perfection of liberal ideals being used to camouflage the New World Order. The program is really about surveillance conditioning, adapting you to a reality with no freedom. The program uses sexuality as the distracting tool aiding a socialisation agenda preparing the masses for the real big brother, The New World order. It also devalues the understanding of the New World Order making it be perceived as NO BIG DEAL! The emergence of Reality TV is not a coincidence as we entered a new century these programmes popped up out of nowhere for most of these reality shows world-wide are created and controlled by one company called ENDEMOL. They call it endemol we suggest they are trying to END-THEM-ALL. The big brother show uses an Eye as the symbol. This eye is tied to the eye on the pyramid on the back of the US dollar bill, which states Novus Ordo Seclorum, which means New World Order.
Lol Conspiracy theorist. The concept of big brother and its constant surveillance was an adaptation off George Orwell's book "1984". The eye symbol was similar to the description in 1984. In fact, the Big brother franchise pay royalties to the estate of George Orwell for the use of the name and other similarities. So I don't understand where this your New world order conspiracy came from!

There is no indication in the report to the fact that their Nigerian subsidiary was 'highly profitable' as you allege. They spoke of better margins due to cost cutting on alternative fuels. That is not necessarily profit when you have a large unsold inventory because infrastructure projects you anticipated did not materialise such as the Calabar 'superhighway' which within the catchment area of their Calabar plant.

Cement sales tie in closely with infrastructure. Engineering companies did not do well last year due to the poor economy. You don't expect material manufacturers and vendors to be insulated from that.
Oga, check their recently released financial statements. You will see that the Nigerian segment was highly profitable for the year (profit before tax not net margin).

I disagree with the bolded. We all have a duty to hold employers accountable for taxes {including other statutory deductions} deducted from employees salary. And it's a bit confusing when you said PAYE will be cancelled and turn to PIT... Is PAYE not a type of PIT?
What I think he meant regarding the second part of your comment is that while the OP was an employee, PAYE tax was applicable as the employer had the obligation to deduct and remit on his behalf, which is why employer files annual PAYE returns on employees' behalf and not annual PIT returns (regardless that PAYE is a subset of PIT).

When OP lost employee status, PAYE can no longer be applicable since he has no employer. Now, OP will be required to file PIT returns by himself on any income earned.

The key point is that PAYE deducted is only relevant for an employee. On the other hand, the law requires PIT returns to be filed by every person who earns income in Nigeria regardless of their status.

I think the guy knows what he's saying but only conveyed it in an hasty manner.

Somebody who scored two great-goals against a team in a single match recently cannot be said to have struggled against that team. Obviously, it is you that did not comprehend the meaning of what you penned down.

For your information, Ronaldo played Juventus home and away in 2015 UCL semi-final and did not perform well as Madrid was kicked out. But in a subsequent season, he scored against them. Will I then reference his previous failure and characterize his performance against Juventus based on that? No of course not!

The truth is all great players eventually make their mark against even tough teams, that is their sign of greatness.

The height, Bruh. The height is the difference. And then, there's the fact that he had to run in from his position before lifting himself to that height and hitting the ball with enough force that it even stunned Buffon in the goal post.

Hate has blinded you Barça fans, honestly.
Rooney's overhead kick was better joor. If CR7 scored Rooney's carbon copy goal I'm sure you would have justified it being better than if Rooney scored CR7's goal against Juventus.

Rooney had to adjust to connect with the ball as Nani's cross was deflected. Rooney's height of connection was at par with CR7's and from a greater distance and the fact that it ended in the top corner made it more beautiful. The fact that CR7 had enough space to run and lift himself waters down his goal as Rooney's goal was more instinctive as he was being marked despite which he pulled off the remarkable bicycle kick.

Beat that!

Madrid cannot defend, just like Barca. Scoring against them is routine. Ask reliable punters. I was surprised Juventus couldn't get at least a goal. I guess the Dybala red card ended that. What I am saying is that an audacious act like that against a well oiled, defensively reknowned and competent team who prior to that match had a solid home record of wins and clean sheets is significant.

I know the Juventus backline is aging but tradition is tradition, Italian teams donot give goals away, spanish teams do.
I am not taking anything away from CR7's goal and I agree it was a remarkable goal considering that it was during the quarterfinal UCL stage. However, I disagree with your assessment of the Juventus defence and your subtle attempt to hype CR7's goal against that backdrop.

Juve's defence has been found out several times in the UCL this season. They have conceded more goals than Real madrid and Barca in the UCL this season (the supposed Spanish teams that leak goals according to you). Tottenham scored two goals in Turin and should have defeated Juve but for sheer badluck. Messi tore apart their defence at will when they met earlier. In fact, it is only in the Serie A where their defence holds up a tad, and that's against weaker opposition and is also a testament to the declining levels of the Serie A.

This current Juventus team is a shadow of the previous great Juve sides and are at best at Tottenham or Sevilla's level.

Mandzukic's overhead kick goal against RM in the UCL final last season was a better goal than CR7's BK as he actually did that against tougher opposition, at a greater stage (Final) and from a greater distance coupled with the fact that the ball ended up in the top corner. However, it was not hyped because it was Mandzukic that scored it. Had CR7 scored that particular one, we would not have heard the end of it!

The PDP list is tantamount to a self-admission of innate corruptness of the PDP while in power as evidenced by the heavyweights "Saraki n co" in their list. While there's no concrete demonstration yet from the pdp to prove that that toga of corruption has been removed.

In short, its just PDP's way of saying, "I am corrupt and not ashamed to admit it, but APC you are hypocritically corrupt!"
