Oh wow, you see why I hardly argue with guys like you anymore? It is because when you have someone teaching you life lessons, your inferiority complex starts flaring up and you start stating that, one is being emotional-obviously because I am a woman. Grow up please.

You did not say roles can be reversed you said you have a problem when a woman says they won't do something just because they are a woman. I educated you on that, now you want to start taking jabs. Why do you still keep on disagreeing when you say you agree? Abeg, jor! I am even insulting my own intelligence by staying here to have this discussion with you. Have a good day!

You're the one who wrote this above.

You're the one who started taking a jibe and that is why I said you were getting emotional and rightly so.You are the one that needs to grow up.
Go through my posts from the beginning,it's right there.Everyone can see it.It puts a question on the so-called intelligence you speak about if you can't see it.I said I agreed on any sex taking up roles but disagree with a woman saying she won't do something just because it has always been a known female role.
Inferiority complex?I laugh!

Let's stop having the discussion like you said.
Goodnite.

Is it such a bad thing? After all, that is what women do everyday. Or does that mean men are too weak to cope with it?
I'm laughing at you.I said show me one you know, not stylishly dodge my question by asking if it's a bad thing. It's not a bad thing anyway.
I don't have a problem with men doing stuff around the house anyway. You need to know me.
I wake up to feed the baby,i clean the house, sometimes stay home all day with the kids.
All i'm speaking about is the idea of a woman in marriage not doing something just because the society thinks it's a woman's role.

kandiikane:
Like I said you are confused. You still do not get it, the whole point is not to do something just because you are a woman, one can still wash dishes but she should not do it because society has said that is her role but she does it because she is not a dirty human who wants her home riddled with cockroaches and mice. When you both work and come home late tired, you will not expect her to go in the kitchen and cook just because she is a woman. When you finish at 2 for example and she finishes at 7, it's common sense for you to say ooh, my wife will be tired, I should maybe run a bath for when she comes home and make something for her to eat. Same goes for a woman if it was the other way round. It does not matter who it is, whoever is at home more should make more of an effort for the tired spouse coming home, be it male or female. There are instances where the woman's job might require longer hours, so you should be considerate and realise she is human and not a donkey that has to do everything just because society says so.
Even if both of you are home, you help each other out. There is nothing wrong in your partner saying, "hunny, please can you wash the plates or hunny, I feel like eating stew, can you make some" without you feeling like your manhood has been detached from your groin.
You haven't said anything here that I have not agreed with.It seems the confusion is on your part and you are getting emotional about it.
I have said roles can be reversed and that is all you have also written here.

That's fine, let there be roles but for those who are not interested in such roles, they can live their lives without conforming to such roles. Is chidinma not married? Just like you believe it is wrong for roles to be changed, there are men who are not bothered with the roles and they do what works for their marriage. It's simple be with someone who share the same values with you but know that many of our generation will teach our children male or female the same roles equality, without any gender discrimination.
Don't get me wrong,i don't have a problem with equality and i do not support gender discrimination.
Like you said,it's a question of what works in each person's marriage.

@bold.There can never be role equality in marriage. There's always going to be percentages which could swing in any direction.

Yes I can say I should not cook because I am a woman. unless it is naturally in you like child birth and even that you can choose not to give birth. Any woman has the right to not want to be part of the societal structures put in place. We need to break this gender norms as cooking or cleaning is not gender specific anyone can do it. Same way, you have the right to not pay for a woman's meal just because you are a man or a man trying to impress, you do it because you are generally that kind of human and would do it regardless of who it is. I have a right to choose not to be allocated to something just because I am a woman.
I agree with you on the issue of rights.A woman actually has the right to choose not to marry.
If she does however,i just don't see how this right in a marriage will help the union. There will always be roles.

Why are people so scared of the female nipp.le? grin It's no different from that of the male.

Some men enjoy cooking & even cook better than their wives. It's all about doing what you're best suited for.
Can you come around so we compare yours and mine(na joke o)?

Some men enjoy cooking and do it often or as occasion permits. However, you naturally won't find a man who daily and routinely feeds his family. That is what I'm taking about.

In all honesty do you think if buhari was a woman with all his experience and good qualities and al that APC would have made him their presidential candidate?

Can you homestly say nigeria is in a state where Men will vote women as presidents ( evenwhen they are fully qualified)? If your answr is NO.. it raises the question ; why??
it depends on what you mean by qualification. You need to know that in politics,it's not about degrees for instance. There was a female presidential candidate in the last elections and from the votes she got,it's obvious even the women didn't vote for her.

Who talked about timetable, are they children? You are saying the same thing she said. Like I said earlier you have confused yourself. It could be done by a man at anytime because he is human and he needs to eat so can a woman.
I'm only using a timetable as a reference. There is nothing confusing here.
There are roles a man takes up in the home and there are some the women take up too. However, those roles are flexible and can be taken up by anyone at anytime. What I'm trying to point out is that you can't say just because you are a woman you wouldn't do certain things just so you don't fit into the perceived roles of a woman.I only used the cooking part as an example.

I believe you confused yourself, it was quite straight forward.

I'm not speaking of what she said here.I'm talking generally of some of the things she says
.

She is right, you do not have to cook because you are a woman, you cook because you are human, you guys are hungry and need to eat. If you don't feel like cooking and the guy is at home, he can do the cooking because he is equally human, hungry and needs to eat. What exactly is ridiculous here?
You cook because you are hungry and I already said the cooking could be done by the man sometimes.Having a timetable for who should cook or not would be ridiculous to me.

Isn't it contradictory that women shouldn't do some things because they are women, yet they want political offices in Nigeria because they are women and should be given the opportunity..

Not because they are women; because they are humans who want to serve.. and it shouldnt be an "opportunity" makes it sound like its a "favor" of some sorts to a 2nd class citizen.
Isn't it what the women portray? They say the men don't give them a chance and that they should be given the opportunity. Some of the women in these position are there just because they are women, not because they got the votes.

Thorpido, women have been marginalized for thousands of years. At this point, we have to ACTIVELY fight to have an equal voice. For example, to make a poor man a millionaire like his neighbour, you give him a million naira. And you give the neighbour nothing. It's a crude example but it's basically what women want now.
I'm for equality and i support the movement that empowers women, protects them and ensures they have a voice in the society.

What I just disagree with is the movement that wants a woman to do whatever a man does.An example is the free the nip.ple movement that some are promoting.Just because some men do not wear a shirt in public(not that it is right), a woman also should do the same.
Another example;in the home,if it's time for dinner and food is to be cooked, should there be a need to throw a dice to pick who should do the cooking?I'm not saying it has to always be the woman who should do the cooking or that she should even cook if she is not in a good position to do so but to say because she's a woman she shouldn't have to do it will be ridiculous to me.

Isn't it contradictory that women shouldn't do some things because they are women, yet they want political offices in Nigeria because they are women and should be given the opportunity.
As per doing some things because you are a woman, well who should stay with a breas.tfeeding baby? The woman because she is a woman or the man?
I believe man and woman are equal, they are just not the SAME.Like some silly girls (and men) started the free the nip.ple campaign.

Ladies should be taught to aspire towards their best and deserve all that men can get too.

Get your point. I believe female doctors should take delivery of babies with help from female nurses. I sometime wonder how Muslim men manage in such circumstances.
How many female doctors are available to take care of the female population? Some female doctors don't even like female drama.
In muslim countries, only female personnel deliver babies. There are some in other countries who also insist on females. You have to be sure you have that alternative or else you will have to use the available.
Some women have ended up with complications or even died because they do not want a male personnel to attend to them.

The lovers should be the one taking care of person now since he/she has one.

What people would say shouldn't really matter. They should know how it has been between them all this while.

There is no difference whatsoever between a sixty year old man and a forty year old woman in terms of the ageing effects on looks, physique, sexual prowess and libido. Normal women age and burn out faster than men. This woman represents a small percentile, the sexually hyper active with a malfunctioning moral compass riding on the wings of an evil spirit.

But what's with these third world press reports. If you have the facts why can't you simply name names. What is the meaning of 'a certain Jane Doe working in Generation X bank'. It is when facts are hidden that rumour prevails. May we know her please.
Who says at bolded? Most women peak around that age.A lot of men who are ignorant are part of the reasons why this kind of situation arose.

I may not agree with all the points made by the OP, but of what use is the abortion tale to the man? This is in a situation where nothing went wrong, that is.
How can one tell if nothing went wrong? Most times you only find out something is wrong when a couple starts trying to conceive. It may not be a direct cause of the infertility but it's better to let your partner know.

Eg. A friend of mine once told me of a friend whose husband of 6yrs doesn't know that her father is not really her father but her uncle. I was like 'what'?? Such minor issue? So, what if the guy happens to find out someday(which I'm sure he will)? Will there still be trust?
Why is she hiding such information from the husband?Even if the father abandoned her as a baby,it is needless keeping such from him.

I won't agree that you keep all details of your past as a woman.A woman who has lived in the past as a prostitute should tell.If you have had an abortion too,you should tell(many sexually active girls must have done one at least from what i see in the hospitals).
If a married woman cheats on her husband, she should confess and ask for forgiveness. For most women, their conscience wouldn't even let them rest though women are becoming hard-hearted nowadays.

I hear guys asking a girl how many men she has slept with.I don't think I will answer that question if i was a girl as long as you didn't meet me a virgin.
