If I trust and throw my weight behind a man, and then the man fails/disappoints, there's absolutely no law in any of the books of life which states I don't reserve the right to criticise the same person. This is actually common sense isnt it?
If the man was predicted based on previous track record to be a monumental failure and you still vote him and then turn around to 'criticise' him for the very same things he was predicted to do, that is nothing short of mercurial stupidity.
Politics › Re: Youths In Abuja Protest Age Limit In Nigerian Politics (Photos) by three: 2:57pm On Jul 25, 2017
Why do 'youths' who DO NOT vote want to run for office?

Who will vote for them?

Youths MUST show themselves capable. We can't come and vote a 'Buhari' type person by mistake JUST because he is a youth.

As he would.

When a person raises that he does not have the monopoly of falsehood in one's own party talk less of the general citizenry the next move is to try to regulate falsehood.

Don't tell lies. The government hates competition

As a safety professional, I do not agree with the op.
The risk of visiting a petrol station is very low.... That's why you can visit or send kids to buy petrol without first requesting for the fire service to be on standby

As long as you have all hazards under proper control, and risked reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), you have nothing to worry about.

Most petrol stations are designed to be safer than your domestic kitchen.
Yet you freely walk in and out of your kitchen, ignite your cooker, without fear of the open flame.
You probably have your dining and sitting room close to your kitchen.
Your kitchen is also part of your house, and not detached from the main building.
As per having fire detectors, gas detectors, fire extinguisher and fire blanket in your kitchen to deem it safe, that's story for another day.

Enjoy your day
Kindly apprise which safety certification you possess to enable cross referencing with your stated assertions

greenpasture:
First off this is not a new development. There is a hotel on top of a petrol station in toyin street that has been there for over 10 years. An environmental impact assessment was carried out and the design was allowed.

Such designs are common abroad, particularly on freeways.

Such petrol stations generally have deeper underground tanks and a whole plethora of fail safe devices which makes them more expensive to build than conventional stations.

Having said this, anyone is at liberty to decide whether a particular risk is too high for them and to act accordingly. I would therefore not criticize you for not using one of such stations. I only want to correct the impression that these represent administrative oversights or errors. This is not true. These designs must comply with stringent conditions for such builds.

Have a great week.
Can you vouch with your word that this structure the OP complained about has been properly certified?

Can you vouch that ANY such structure in Nigeria has been properly certified?

Feel free to list those you know
Politics › Re: Ambode Gives Quit Notice To Property Owners Blocking Drainage Channels In Lagos by three: 10:49am On Jul 24, 2017
Okay,

Why this should be an issue is somewhat of a mystery.

Why do we pay tax
Why do developers pay separate monitoring fees (that should normally be included in the standard building application fees)
Why do developers pay the ubiquitous infrastructure development levy?

All this and the government then 'allocates' land on drainage channels to people?

No excuses please, it's been the same party in power for 18 years!

Even abroad, filling stations has grocery stores where u can buy your chilled drinks... So your drink argument holds no water.
Grocery Store is different from event centre/eatery
Nigeria is different from abroad (responsiveness to incidents)
Politics › Rainfall On Election Day - A Bit Of History by three(op): 8:35am On Jul 24, 2017
Below is an account by Hon. Oladipo Olaitan, the National Financial Secretary of Afenifere given in an interview with the Vanguard Newspapers,

"In 1993, I contested for the Senate in Lagos here with Tinubu, Odi Onikosi of blessed memory and Dominic. Tinubu was just coming into politics at that time.

On the day of that election, we were all filed up, you know it was Option A4. Sarunmi was the person we knew as nobody knew Tinubu then, so Sarumi stood in front. Sarumi was the head of their group then known as Primrose.

It started to rain so heavily that the electoral officers asked us to go home, but to our chagrin, some people came back, and they were counted, and the rest is history, and that is how Tinubu emerged as a senator, and we all left it. That is when also Bucknor-Akerele also emerged with four votes at the Island."

Optimistic.

See the caliber of 7 passed

How do you say someone fulfilled a promise to make something public but finish the sentence with 'but the details are yet to be provided'.

Very nonsensical deductions.

Mere presentation of a strategy makes the cut

Located in a built up residential area with poor traffic movement for trailers or normal passenger vehicles.

If only Lagos knew how much more beautiful she could be.

Many have decided that the Lion of Bourdillon will rule in perpetuity. This is understandable if one is fairly on in years, probably gone past 60, for young'uns however, how do you let go of so much potential, so much hope, so much possibility, so much wealth, so much fun, so much achievement with so many years ahead of you?

DO YOU KNOW HOW SO MUCH BETTER LAGOS CAN BE?

DO YOU?

Ago Palace way road was built with drainages at both sides. People like you blocked those drainages with their indiscriminate dumping activities. Should Ambode be blamed here? Should people be taught every minute to dispose wastes properly?
Would this be Open Drainage or Closed Drainage?

GEJ?... Tufia! Had GEJ been in charge of Nigeria in 2016 when oil dropped to $28 and everything went south, the Op wouldn't have even had the data to open this thread.
Just shows you how Low we have sunk. After 2 years of Change the OP can actually open a thread that compares the two men when instead the Jonathan era should have been consigned to the dustbin of our mediocre past.

APC/Buhari and his minions have rebased mediocrity. Congrats!

Governance is about planning

Planning for eventualities

Seeking creative solutions to stretch scarce resources to all parts of one's constituency

Uplifting the quality of life of residents. Enabling dreams.

Nigerians are NOT used to good innovative, transparent governance

Like that fineeee babe that's tickled by that BADT GUY, She knows his lying but coos, "tell me more - I like it". Everyone tells her the guy is a player, he's got other girls, but in her eyes they are - enemies of progress. She hooks up with him. He beats her.
She says it's love.

Nigerians will take a 'Fine Boi' over a good guy each and every time. "See how people look at me when I'm with him". No self worth.
Politics › Re: 2019: Inside Pdp’s Plans To Topple APC by three:
Unfortunately (and especially because of armchair online warriors without an iota of political clout offline) PDP still stand the best chance to topple APC.

I am VERY concerned about this. Imagine a PDP with the Propaganda capacity of APC. Nigeria will be FINISHED!

The intellectuals in the APC (many hid their true affiliation under the canopy of fencists but turned out to be vociferous albeit two-faced APC supporters) were arrogant, they believed PDP was finally dead and buried.
