Very 'informative' infographic

Okay so first off it isn't any wonder that the Ministries with the largest budgetary provisions are headed by the most 'controversial' ministers?

Having a 3rd of your budget financed by deficit is simply ludicrous and in the current socio-economic/political environment simply wishful thinking (Oil revenue has been massively eroded due to Bombings)

Oil revenue and Non-Oil revenue are almost equal (this simply assumes that we will make as much money from agric, and not much else as we make from oil..., Really?)

The sum of N529B for works, power and housing is grossly inadequate as there already is a funding deficit for most FG contracts so this is like throwing money into a bottomless pit - summary - we're going to be hearing many many more excuses)

Meanwhile why is the FCT getting a whole N37B (okay now I understand why Bala Muhammed's son allegedly has several supercars and properties) on a serious note it would make sense if Lagos, Kaduna and Portharcourt shared this sum as intended abinitio.

Den come oh! dis $30B wey PMB wan collect by force, d servicing dey inside d N1.6T abi e go still join amhuh!!!

I pass through that bridge every morging on my way to work,

it is cosmetic job they are doing there,

If the goverment is serious about building Lagos ibadan expreesway, they should continue where works stops duing GEJ era.

The place where Julis berger packed out of site after GEJ era, is just before RCCG camp by Christopher university.

they should continue from there if they are serious

I was waiting for a comment from someone claiming to have passed there. I passed by there last Thursday and I can affirm that your assertion is correct! The work asides being cosmetic is possibly the worst job JB has undertaken in Nigeria to date!

This is inclusive of the abysmal traffic management that appears to have been strategized to make road users pause and wait to see that the government is 'working'!

How does reducing a main transport artery connecting the North/Middle Belt to the Nations Port in the South-West from 4 LANES to 2 LANES make any sense?!!!

Really? bhet PMB & Co say 2016 budget implementation is on course na?! Na December be dis oh!

The Federal Government on Wednesday said that the implementation of the 2016 budget is on course.

Addressing State House correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said the budget had "fully performed to date in terms of personnel.

"That is to say, we're not owing any salaries at the federal level. Operational expenditure has been disbursed for eight months and the ninth month is just being processed. Capital expenditure has been disbursed to the tune of nearly 50 percent. About N720bn has been released, from the MDAs, N1.5 billion as at the end of September."

She explained that the $29.9 billion borrowing plan which President Muhammadu Buhari recently sent to the National Assembly was required to fund the 2016 budget deficit.

The minister also stated that the 2017 budget preparation was at an advanced stage as the National Economic Management Team had extensively reviewed it.

According to her, "the next step is that it is going to be brought into the Federal Executive Council for approval. Thereafter it will be sent to National Assembly."

She said the government expected that the legislature would approve the 2017 budget this year so that we its implementation would begin next January.

As usual, all these posturing and alignment has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with a better Nigeria with a better standard of living for the most vulnerable.

sarrki:
In the 2015 election, Jonathan was 19, Buhari was 19.

Both of them needed 1 to become 20....

Buhari owned the North but Jonathan has little control there.

Jonathan owned the SS and SE. Buhari's patronage there is meaningless. Deduct the entire votes Buhari had in those regions and add to Jonathan's, Buhari still won that election.

Where is the 1 that both Buhari and Jonathan are looking for??

Southwest......apart from 1999, PDP always won the SW to have smooth ride to Aso Rock. Buhari has never had up to 300k or so in the SW. But this time around, even though, the Pan Yoruba group Afenifere that supported him in 2011 when he chose a popular Yoruba pastor as his deputy, did not support him this time, CPC elements have always supported him without any meaningful votes. A Pan Yoruba Force OPC was against him.....A notable Yoruba king from the source(now late) was against him....so how is he going to get this 1 to make his 19 become 20huh?

To make the matter worse, SW temporarily became the Headquarters of FOREX Department of CBN. Dollars everywhere. Disco parties with Jonathan in attendance everyday. Media war against Tinubu sponsored by Jonathan Campaign Organization aired concurrently by AIT and NTA......Nollywood, CANwood and other woods are all in the SW to snatch that 1.

But ACN made the difference. Jagaban's ACN genuinely supported PMB and broke the jinx of meaningless Votes Buhari always got in the Southern Part of Nigeria. Deduct the votes of PMB in Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Ondo...then, add it to Jonathan's votes....

Who won?

GEJ was thouroughly inept but to actively (and covertly) lobby and campaign for GMB/PMB is utterly reprehensible!

You CANNOT have been that stupid (forgive my lack of tact) therefore something else must have been in play!

Politics › Stop Making Expensive Demands From Me, Buhari Tells Nigerians by three(op): 5:48pm On Dec 06, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked Nigerian elite to stop making what he called expensive demands from his administration because things would no longer be done in the old way.

He warned them to stop insisting that things should be done the old way which impoverished the nation.

The President spoke during a meeting he had with a group of Nigerians in the Diaspora, on the margins of the 3rd Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa in Dakar, Senegal.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said his administration was on the right track to improve the image of the country by entrenching accountability and probity in governance.

He told the 11-man Nigerian delegation of association leaders resident in Senegal and Cote D’ Ivoire, that the last 16 years of poor handling of the nation’s resources and infrastructure have continued to impact negatively on the country.

The President, “This administration is pleased we won the election, we are pleased Nigerians are cooperating with us. But the problems are so enormous that we need the cooperation of Nigerians, particularly the elite.

“They (elite) should reflect on the condition of the country, and stop making expensive demands because things cannot be done the old way.”

On the welfare of Nigerians in the Diaspora, Buhari assured them that the Federal Government would continue to promote good neighbourliness and improve the negative perception about Nigerians abroad.

“Nigerians are known for their competitiveness and I am very passionate about Nigeria. I will continue to preach good neighbourliness and work hard to improve the numerous human and material resources in the country,” he said.

Politics › Re: Obasanjo Gives Condition To Support New Mega Party - This Day by three:
So supposedly, Obasanjo is seeing something else?

"According to a source, who was conversant with the outcome of the meeting with the former president, “He (Obasanjo) addressed the group that met with him, informing them that he had made too many mistakes in his life and for the nation, including the blanket support he claimed to have granted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, and therefore was not prepared to make any more mistakes.”

The THISDAY source hinted that the former president said that although he was quick to support the APC, however, he was not as quick to support Buhari’s bid to become president in 2015, because he had reservations about his capacity to lead the country.

But because the APC to which he had declared his support had also settled for Buhari, he had no option than to tag along."

I agree that GEJ was inept but the 'Get Jonathan out at ALL cost' is the big problem here as 'ALL cost' is very relative! and it appears there is a tendency to start a 'Get Buhari out at all cost!' campaign.

When does the plan to get Nigeria out of its economic woes and leadership deficit begin?

When will the so-called leaders of tomorrow (currently about 40+ years old) become a factor?

Are there no COMPETENT VISIONARIES in Nigeria?

PS

OBJ started this nonsense with the fight against ATIKU and his third-term moves! We won't have had Yar'Adua or GEJ (or Buhari) if OBJ had stayed focused and nominated a capable person to take over from him.

The 2011 budget was $3b (cbn rate) or $2.8b (parallel rate)

The 2017 budget is $2.6b (cbn rate) or $1.7b (parallel rate)

Inflation rate in 2011 was 9%, in 2017, it is projected at 20%

In real term, the budget has shrunk.

This would hold if salaries were paid in dollars, which they aren't and if ALL of the Lagos State's expenditure is made in dollars, which it isn't

Is this an attempt to reduce affordability and access to Social Media?

Is this not backdoor censorship?

"Pleading not to be mentioned, an employee of MTN said, “What this means is that MTN, Airtel, Etisalat And Globacom will increase their data rates as from December 1, 2016. A data plan of N1,000 for 1.5 Gigabytes will now be increased to N3,000 at N1,000 per 500 Megabytes.”
