The governorship ballot paper is so clumsy, an unknown party may benefit because the logo, name is close/resembles that of a popular party in Lagos. Misleading! PEOPLE WERE ACCREDITED AND ALLOWED TO VOTE WITH NATIONAL I. D. CARD IN MY WARD. IS THIS ALLOWED? |

I just got accredited, the officials came 8:30 am, did some preparations and then started. watch the video at www.qik.com/naijaelection11 |
I cant belief this is happening in a free society, what does he think we are, morons or what? Fellow compatriots, go to www.qik.com to download video record/sharing application to your phone, record anything you want and it automatically transmits live to the whole world, even if your phone is confiscated, the information recorded is already uploaded and the trace (I guess) can not be seen in your phone. This I have used before and plan to use during the election day whether Rigging/Riggin orders otherwise. I weep for Nigeria in ijebu. |

Chief Bode George, the jailed chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was again denied bail today, this time by the Court of Appeal. In a unanimous decision, the court, led by Clara Bata Ogunbiyi, the presiding judge of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal accepted the arguments put forward by the lawyer to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Festus Keyamo, that nothing has changed since George was denied bail by a lower court to warrant his latest application. Saharareporters sources said George went back to the Court of Appeal with the bail application in view of the changes within the federal government, which he thought would favour him. One source said that he had calculated that with Goodluck Jonathan in the saddle and former president Olusegun Obasanjo's "extensive" influence over Jonathan, the higher court would become more sympathetic to his cause. It would be recalled that two weeks ago, Obasanjo asked chieftains of the People's Democratic Party to show greater sympathy to the fallen Lagos boy, and to visit him in prison. Today, the Court of Appeal told George to remain in jail and advised him to stop "chasing shadows". Only last week at the Lagos High Court, George also lost a libel case he had brought against three newspapers. http://www.saharareporters.com/real-news/newsflash/6011-court-of-appeal-tells-bode-george-to-stick-with-jail-term.html

It is in the News today that the Supreme Court of Nigeria have reinstated all the sacked University of Ilorin lecturers. What a good news! This is a victory for the emancipation of education in Nigeria. Though justice walks slowly, but truth will always prevail even it it tarries. |

Good initiative Jericho, you have my full support and may give |
Even though I disagree with this appointment, but when I think of the Communication aspect of the job, I remembered GSM in Nigeria, Internet Connections, Saterlite/Terestial Televisions etc and their rates, tarrifs, services, especially GSM and Internet Providers, then I see hope of better services ahead. Let us pray for her. |
For Femi _ko: The amount you pay for incorporation depends on the person handling it for you, the number of share capital and how urgent you want it registered. But the minimum I charge is 80k for 1m share capital for private Company. |
Now I see why many clients lost their matters in Courts, even when they have good cases or when everything should have worked in their favour; the reason is that many consult quacks or are led by "I too Know syndroms" whereby they mortgage their future, the worst when it is a criminal matter. Incorporation though is a small matter compare to what lawyers do, all lawyers are qualified to incorporate companies but not all that can incorporate companies as your LLB and BL is not enough until you pay to get accredited by CAC before you could be allowed to incorporate, very simple but technical. Though a non lawyer can register busines name but advisable to meet somebody trained in the act to do the job for you. Wait! my people dont you want lawyers to eat? Seun, I know that we are in Computer age where computer can do almost everything but still waiting till when computer will handle matters in court, I pray we get to that era on time. Please let lawyer "chop". If one lawyer billed you too high, why not move to the next door at least we have over 50,000 lawyers in this country. Wait please if you dont patronise them we will continue to have more of "Igbosere lawyers". NB All of you reading this should Please send your contact addresses to me so as to send my bills to you, afterall legal advise is not free, abi? |
Everyone knows that paracetamol is for pain relief and headache and anyone can buy it from any chemist or even on the road but there are some drugs that you can not prescribe for yourself unless you are a doctor or consult one. Anyway if you are interested in in getting legal advise, consult a lawyer near you but dont forget that it took lawyers to 5 to 7 years to get to where they are and what they do now, afterall man must eat. That is their job |
Lawyer and Accountant have the exclusive privilege of incorporating a companies in Nigeria. Many of you only talk about the money you pay, but there are many things a lawyer will do before you get the certificate starting from searching to reservation, to registration and some follow ups. The fees varies as many of you have rightly said depending on the person you meet. But inc ase any of you need any assistance, I can be of help. Some of you should be free to approach lawyers for advise afterall that is why they are there for you. Incorporation is not a day, a week or a month job. |

@ Naijaway: I wish to disagree a little with your position on how the situation should be solved though with due respect to your opinions, how do you expect a man who is not properly encouraged and motivated to listen to whatever training you are given or how will he use the so called suphisticated weapon you are purchasing? I think the reform should be wholistic in nature but I suggest that their morals should be boosted first. Why do many Nigeria want to work in an Oil companies and Banks today? Is it because of the Long working hours or the risk of kidnapping or the danger attached to exploiration? I think when you look at the welfare you will not consider the risk and the stress you give to the job. Back to Police, if we are able to guarantee our Officers that; if you die while in active service your family will be adequately compensated and taking care off, anybody then can go ahead and put his life in danger bc he knows that his death will not be in vain and his family will not suffer. Why do you think that people are enlisting everyday to be a suicide bomber in Iraq or world over today? I guess the welfare package in encouraging but in Nigeria, the so called "take home" will not follow you to the road how much more your home because you must settle your last monthsssssss debts. As a lawyer I have had reason to interact and relate with Police and I know what I am talking about. On their response to distress call, we need to pity them at time all still boarder on availability of vehicle, manpower and weapons. You may be suprised to see that even the Police station you are calling may not have any single vehicles, few Officers attached to the stations who are not on duty or gone for some other assignments while the police attached to some of our govt official and their cronies are in many cases more than the ones attached to a whole Police station. How many Policemen and SSS are attached to the Governors of a state alone? How many do you think Adedibu have? We need good leadership in this country |
Amaikama you need to research how much a police officer is being paid before you talk. I know you will be suprised to hear that a Corporal is paid 7000 naira monthly. What do you expect a family man to do with that? Is it for feeding, transport, house rent or what? Imagine the Speaker of the House spending over six hundred million naira on renovation of a house alone. How much is the annual budget of the Police force. When you get to some Police stations you will not see a single vehicle while govrnment official have over 2o cars for their use. I think we have priority problem in this country. |
Road safety may be doing well without gun as they dont even need a gun to do thier Job. Eve at that they also have their own peculiar problems. As for whether one is speculating the contract sum of Ehindero is not an issue here at they beside every rumour there are some elements of truth, even if the houses are 20,000 where did he get the money from? i know he will say that it is from private business as all of us are fools in Nigeria, may be they tot we dont know that the constitution forbid any civil servant from engaging in a private bussiness. Like somebody rightly said, the police problem is leadership, if you donate any good vehicles now to the Police, the senior officers will convert them to their wives and children use while police station does not have even a common motorcycle. Have you not observed how neat the senior police officers vehicles are and how many is attached to one single senior officer. If you are unfortunate to get arrested and detained in any of the police stations' cell, you can only imagine to compare it with the discription of hell fire you read in the holy books, no food, no beddings. no nothing, to even take your statement you have to provide money for biro and papers in some police stations even though these monies are budgeted and released every year. I think our concern here should be to see how we can help salvage our society and help the junior officers to have a better police force in Nigeria. |
