Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed Justice Olufunmilayo Olajumoke Atilade, the nominee of Governor Babatunde Fashola, for the position of Chief Judge of the state.

She was confirmed at plenary, after screening, involving questions and answers, by the lawmakers.

Before her appointment as the acting Chief Judge, Atilade, who is a sister to the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ayotunde Phillips, would be 62 by September.

Atilade who said she has spent half of her life working for Lagos State Judiciary became a magistrate at the age of 30 in 1982 and became a Judge in 1996.

While promising to complete the computerisation process of the judiciary started by her predecessor, Atilade said she would appeal for the appointment of more judges.

“We need about 100 judges to cope with the volume of work we have; right now we have about 50 judges and the work load is much for them, which means we need about 50 more judges”, she said.

She also promised to continue with the effort of her predecessor in the decongestion of prisons especially with those awaiting trial which she attributed to delay in DPP report.

After, answering questions from the lawmakers, Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji, however, urged the acting CJ to work on Section 270 of the 1999 Constitution as amended because a lot of things were being done wrong.

He added that by the constitutional provisions, it is the House of Assembly that should determine the number of judges for the state and not the governor.

Ikuforiji also informed her that it is her duty to write to the House to request for more judges and not to the executive.

Like I said, the election in Osun is not about APC or PDP but the electorates voted for individuals (kinsmanship). Aregbe got more of his vote from Ilesa/Oshogbo while Omisore got his from Ife and you know very well that Ife axis has fewer local governments.

APC, after Ekiti' loss took some decisions to review their elitists policies, paid arrears of salaries, related more with the poor electorates etc. That also work for Aregbe.

I hv said it severally that Omisore can't win in Osun State because of the scandals especially on Bola Ige's death. Pdp would have won Osun election if they had presented a better candidate to compete with Aregbe but unfortunately the outcome is what happened on Saturday. More so, many Christians omisore banked on to vote for him were in different camps and conventions within and outside the state.

PDP will loose Lagos again if they present Obanikoro, but if they present somebody more credible like Jimi Agbaje, then the competition may very close.

Electricity distribution companies have rejected the order for the removal of fixed charges by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The order stipulates that a customer would not be liable to paying the fixed charge if he does not receive cumulative electricity supply for a period of 15 days in a month.

The multi-tariff order which commenced in 2012 provides that a retail tariff be paid by electricity consumers with two components; an energy charge and a fixed charge.

While the energy charge is for electricity consumed, the fixed charge is for capital cost, fixed operations and maintenance which consumers are compelled to pay whether or not electricity is supplied.

Following numerous complaints by electricity consumers, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission then put out the directive to distribution companies to stop fixed charges if electricity is not supplied for 15 consecutive days in one month.

This order has, however, caused uproar among electricity distribution companies. They claim that such an order would create chaos in the industry as there were still no statistical meters to determine which customers were supplied energy at any given time.

While some key players in the industry believe that the fixed charge be applicable only for energy supplied, other say there is the need to protect the DISCOs from running aground with unsettled costs.

The Chairman of the regulatory commission said that all relevant issues must be considered and a middle ground reached to ensure that the regulation on electricity charges is fair and balanced for licensees, consumers and investors in the industry.

This is my prediction like I said earlier: APC will loose all the South West states to PDP except Lagos. Not because people like PDP or their candidates especially Osun state but because there is no other alternative, so, they will have no choice than to vote for PDP Again.
The moment ACN Merged with Northern CPC and ANPC parties was the beginning of their downfall. Yoruba race loves it's identity and would not like to be associated with other tribal parties.

ACN should kindly retrieve their identity before it is too late or else UPN will take over.

Please help a lonely man to retrieve my love and wife from the addiction of Facebook and other Naija news/gossip sites.

My wife spends more of her time on Facebook women group, and most of what she learns from them are affecting our love and trust.

She opens her Facebook group immediately she wakes up before and after morning devotion, when she wakes up to urinate in the midnight etc. I have discussed my reservation with her but she will not change.

I had issues too while porting to MR 3 from MR 2 but i later discovered that: 1, My new memory card of 32gg was bad or the phone can't run it smoothly. 2, the MR 3 rom i downloaded was not complete even though it was 380 mb when i downloaded it with my A+ ucweb and said completed but i later redownload it on another system and it is abt 386.7 or thereabout and followed the installation instruction on how to install MR 2 since it is well explained there and MR3 rom is beautiful.

But while going through aall these, I first restored my custom rom.
