Culture › Re: Ooni Of Ife Vs Alafin Of Oyo, Which Is Higher? by timawoku(op): 8:00am On Jan 06, 2016
saxywale:
Some questions for the op, and some other wannabe historian.

Question 1:
Did Oranmiyan (the founder of Oyo) ever reign as an Ooni in Ife after he left a oyo ile, and other smaller settlement to contest for a far more superior throne?
when you answer that question, then I would know what response to give you.

Question 2:
Loading.....
In 1903, long before the birth of Lt.col General Adeyinka Adebayo or before the formation of Nigeria, why did the other obas reject the Alaafin as judge, but advised the Colonial Governor of a greater king resident in the Yoruba hinterland, to help settle the dispute involving Elepe of Epe and the Akarigbo of Ijebu-Remo?
The Alaafin was side-lined, and the Ooni was invited by the new power, the colonial Governor to the Central Native Authority in Lagos to advise on the dispute between Akarigbo of Ijebu-Remo and Elepe of Epe in Remo over Elepe’s right to wear a beaded crown.

Question 3:
If Alaafin was the youngest of the grandsons of Oduduwa, what makes him superior to the likes of his elder brothers you listed above in your write up i.e Oranmiyan, Olowu, Alaketu, Onisabe, Orangun, Olupopo, Oba Benin?

Question 4:
How can the Alaafin apoint an Ooni, when Oduduwa himself was an Ooni?

Question 5:
Why is the Alaafin bowing, and also collecting his certificate of ''occupancy'' from a lesser king in the picture below.
Note: Oba Lamidi Adeyemi became an Oba in 1970.
Oba Aderemi was governor between 1960 and 1962.

I am glad the new Ooni does not have time for any supremacy battle, and has displayed an high level of maturity.
this is quite interesting and educating, I really thank you sir! I always knew the supremacy battle between the 2 kings is quite uneccessary as Ooni is the highest ranked king in yoruba land. Saxywale thanks for the exposure...

you need to separate it, point of correction the headquarters is IBADAN , IFE is just ancestral home of the yorubas
baba ife na ancestral home of yorubas na also the headquarter of the whole yoruba. Omo gbon, agba gbon ni afi daa ile ife..(Child is wise, adult is wise, on that basis ile ife was formed)

Well by this standards. Size of empire ruled, the Alafin is greater in fact the official Yoruba language for all Oduduwa states is the Oyo Yoruba, for example the Oyo Yoruba was used to write the Bible and not Ife language .it's due to political affiliation that made the Ooni of Ife to be rated higher than the Alafin
but where did all yoruba come from? Is it not ife? Should ooni of ife then not have strong political affiliation? Methink it was during d war that alafin came to stand, I stand corrected though.

Your foreign exchange restriction policy is meant to discourage import of goods that can be produced locally. that's good.

Buh one question for you baba; what are you doing to encourage already established businesses within the country?

Take for instance the automobile industry. Local manufacturers like IVM and others need supports, incentives and concessions because such an industry can be a huge employer of labour in the country when fully harnessed. keep trying baba.

2) How solid is the foundation?
3)Is the plastic bottle beneficial to the structure of the building or simply for design?
4) Is the mud heated or just plain mould?

Thank God I voted out the impunity party...

Now stealing is corruption, all the die hard thieves under past administration must pay.

Although I understand that the corruption fight is one sided, it is still a good step if we start catching one or 2 people out of 'political security' and bring them to book. Who knows, the next dispensation might go after the thieving thieves who are presently favoured and lodged in buhari's cabinet now...

For now...

You are one of the very few people whose comment make sense...

Dangote brought down the price of cement to N1000 with the hope that it would help reduce rent, more affordable to build house, etc. The selfish eediots are still selling for N1700 just to capitalise on profit, we are the major problem of ourselves because we don't love each other...

Simple rules they can't follow
my sister it is not that simple

I for one, I work in a place were every minute counts. I can't afford to even go and withdraw in the bank, I usually send a person, and I travel around an awful lot. The problem is that it is not much convenient for people, they should make it easier to do and everywhere too not just banking halls (like sim cards). It is well!
Nairaland General › BVN: Unregistered Customers Can't Withdraw Even With Atms by timawoku(op): 12:04pm On Nov 03, 2015
I went to an ATM to withdraw cash today and I was unable to because I did not register for BVN, went to the banking hall and same thing!

I know I should have registered long time ago, and I am guilty of not registering before the deadline, but, should we really be banned from collecting our deposit?

For crying out loud it is a demand deposit which implies that on demand, our deposit should be given to us. There was no BVN clause when I opened an account with my bank, left for me, CBN should create a much easier way and access to this BVN thing, it is plainly too over rated, after all, we register our sim cards effortlessly and ongoing, so why can't CBN employ the same strategy?

Please nairalanders (esp. BVN unregistered) what way(s) can we withdraw as an unregistered customer? Maybe one can transfer online to another person's registered account or better still, use POS and collect cash (soji peops go understand this level)
