The sign helps. There is no way someone will know without such sign. Here is a faceless forumn. Though some will still assume but the sign helps alot. Even when i mail Graduate coordinators, its male that comes to my mind first.

No wonder. I have a friend who encountered same issue. He applied for bsc computer information system and but got business/commerce written on his i20. Since you applied for computer science, explain to the V.O the course you applied for which is computer science and say its under liberal arts and science college. Go with your admission letter too. University of Wisconsin-Madison is a very good school, you will get your visa.

It because you are leaving the word Science out ......... The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or some schools call it College of Science and Liberal arts is home to Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Liberal Studies etc .

Also VO knows it a school can pick the umbrella and not the exact match.........

Chemical Engineering is not inclusive though. I agree with others. I wasn't observing the science in his first post before. The school might have used the umbrella as you said

you raise a good point but i think Computer can be under Liberal arts and science . It depends on how the school college is broken down. I20 Classification doesn’t have to be exact , a school can choose the umbrella it falls under ….. But at the same time , even if it not exact in all cases, they cannot choose something random or two things that are not related

I think Gcodded , you need to go back and check that this is not a mistake .. Contact the school , If the school confirms that how they classify it then its ok . What school is this ? , I can check their website

Yeah it can be under liberal arts and science but having liberal arts as a course you are studying will make the interviewer wonder how computer science and liberal arts links. I am still finding it hard to know the relation maybe its a business course

But computer science is not under liberal arts. The person interviewing him will be wondering what he actually applied for.

please I need your help on this ..i was accepted to study computer science , but liberal art and science is written on my i20. the school told me that the norms. should I say am gonna study liberal art and science but major in computer science, or should I just say am gonna study computer science during my interview. to avoid story that touches the heart.
secondly if I say am gonna study computer science, will that make the vo think that I don't know my course?
thirdly, if the vo ask me to talk about my course, should I talk about liberal art or computer science.
my interview is around the corner , please i need your advice on this to avoid negative outcome

My HND is in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Power Plant Option) while the Associate of science degree I am going for in the US is in Aviation Maintenance Technician.

Aviation maintenance is under mechanical engineering, you can do masters in it. Secondly are you working in aviation firm, why doing masters in that area? Try and do courses you can form home ties with.

The OP is one of the many fraustrated HND graduates. US is the only country that accept us directly for a Masters. But you will never know until you stumble upon this kind of thread or meet with people from this thread. The reason for applying to associate degree is because he doesn't even know that its possible to go directly for a Masters. Now that he stumbled upon this thread, I assure you he/she will never remain the same.

I also hold the same degree and I am looking forward to study in the US. Got admitted for Msc in more than four different universities. The Visa is a different issue on it's own.

Well atimes you need to scold some so that they will get it right fast. He might be blaming the V.O for denying him while the V.O is actually saving him from wasting money and his precious time. The associate degree is just like repetition of what he has already studied. When scolded, he will see his wrong and put more effort to get it right. It's not everytime you use soft words.

Information is power, if you were in his/her shoe with HND degree, you will understand better. To the OP, your HNd qualify you for a Masters in the US. That way, you will be sure you are doing the right thing and can continue to reapply for your VISA.

ME: Good morning (Passing my passport and my i-20

VO: (typing and looking at her computer) what year did you finish your secondary school

ME: (I was feeling she asked the wrong question because while filling my forms I didn't include my secondary education) I finished my secondary school education in the year bla bla bla.

VO: After your secondary education what do you do?

ME: I gained admission to study Mechanical Engineering from bla bla bla and after gaining my National Diploma certificate, I started my HND in the same Mechanical Engineering course and I graduated in 2018.

VO: Sorry your Visa has been denied.... Try again later.

I actually applied to go and have an Associate of Science degree in the US, I used my HAND to apply when filling the form. but after the whole interview I finally realized that the secondary education she was referring to was suppose to mean the year I graduated from my HND and not secondary school. So am I answered the wrong answer to her question.

But I want to re apply... I won't give up.

She was right for denying you. For God's sake why will you finish HND 2018 and be going for an OND which is equivalent to associate of science degree in US. Doesn't make any single sense. Apply for masters and try again

The problem is that the courier service used by the school don't accept card payment by Nigeria unless I do a wire transfer or PayPal but the wire do take time and I don't have a PayPal account. University of New Haven won't give you full funding, it is a private university that uses the partial funding as a marketing strategy to win students over.

Recently, most issued visas are usually on the basis of full funding.

Biomedical engineering is a course that should earn you full funding as I know it's a course with enough funds for graduate students/ research.

The thing is that my case is peculiar. I graduated from OLABISI Onabanjo University, transcript takes a lot of time to come out in the school and it's 50k per one international transcript request

Check university of new haven, everything is unofficial and admission comes out in 2weeks
