MasterforceII: Will you be making same research in both schools? How would you rate your advisors at both schools? Personally, I'd go for Kentucky. I prefer the research areas in UKY than MTU and UKY covers the whole health insurance while MTU doesn't. The stipend from UKY is far higher than MTU stipend coupled with the fact that Michigan is a very cold state. I will choose UKY. |

PHRANTAD: It seems migri wants to use €40k now, because a friend who renewed his permit here in Finland was asked to supplement his application by sending an insurance that covers €40k instead of the €30k he uploaded earlier, and it seems Swisscare is the only insurance company that can provide such limits amongst the recommended insurance companies by migri. Other recommended international insurance companies can provide it but their charges are more expensive. |

PHRANTAD: Mutual benefits and AIICO are both down because they both offer 30,000euros cover Yeah, that's what both told me and they said they can't increase it to 40,000Euros. Aside swisscare, do you know of any other that has cheaper price and covers 40,000Euros? |

Mutual Benefits and AIICO only provides insurance cover for 30,000Euros. Please which other Insurance company provides cover for 40,000Euros. Swisscare provides that cover but it's expensive, so am looking for alternative |

SnazzyBaba: You can try Mutual if they have the 40k insurance cover required by migri. But I doubt. A friend had to use swisscare. Google it. Did it change from 30k€ to 40k€? |

mrcodebreaker: The tuition is 14,500 per semester and I have 4 semesters. making it about 50K usd which is 18m. That is just tuition without upkeep and accommodation. Sense fall on me bro. I am picking the norway call. I have discussed with my family. I am not even going to the us visa interview. I no wan dent my record with rejection sef. Thanks for the advice. You can aswell pay the money to UIS, go for your U.S visa, if US Embassy approves your visa, you can request for a refund from UIS. This way you won't lose on either sides. |

iwriterng: A bit of update:
The department is willing to grant GTA, but the policy is that all GTA spend a semester as Graduate Teaching Apprentice (No waiver, No stipend for the first semester)
I’m confused/worried because I’m not sure the I-20 will show any form of funding with this arrangement.
Your i20 won't show any form of funding with such agreement. It means they only give GTA after the student must have spent a semester with them |

frankie2K: I was once in your shoes. I had HND and applied. They replied me that they don't accept HND for masters degree. I enrolled into PGD in Nigeria, completed it and reapplied. I was accepted.
Aalto will not admit you even with HND and PGD. Anything less than B.Sc is a red flag for them.
LUT don't accept HND for MSC oooo Oh, so it's HND plus PGD. I see |

For postgraduate studies, you don't need any entrance exam though some schools do conduct interview. |

Demonicide: can HND apply for Msc? and again I just got an admit from New Haven, I didn't see any form scholarship. How did you get yours? Most schools in finland doesn't accept HND for masters, only few does e.g LUT. As for UNH scholarship, just accept the admission and give it 1week to 2weeks, then check your portal again for scholarship decision. |
