boldtruthalways: You don't know what you are saying. INEC allocated 8.7milion to Tinubuu and 6.1million to Obi. If 1.5million is removed from Tinubuu, he has 7.2million. If its added to Obi, he has 7.6million. He'll win and he got 25% in 24states and in FCT. If Obi gets his true figures in Lagos, Plateau, Nasarawa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kogi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Sokoto, Bornu, Adamawa etc, He'll be declared President. That's why INEC is panicking as Obi is presenting form EC8A CTC as evidence. By God's grace, the stolen mandate will be recovered and Nigerians will breath fresh air of redemption. This one isn't worth talking to, his delusions are out of this world |

drlateef: We all know that NLC president is an igbo man. We all know that NLC president supports Obi and LP wholeheartedly, to the extent that when the cashless policy of Emefiele was killing Nigerians, NLC refused to say “pim”!!! NLC leadership has been working hand-in-glove with Obi and LP because they come from the same place. Ethnicity and political affiliation has destroyed NLC. Nobody will go on strike on Wednesday. Ajaero will see pepper. He does not realise that we are wise in Nigeria. Nobody can play underhand politics in Nigeria anymore. Ajaero ti Lulee. And for those asking if petrol is not sold at 550 naira in southwest and north, let me tell you: if you like let them sell petrol at 10,000 naira/litre, the fear of IPOB terrorists is the beginning of wisdom in Nigeria. You never raised this when NLC went on strike for other issues |

satelliteDISH: This is a very tough one. The girls mother is very bitter. She has been nursing that bitterness all her life since she got pregnant. She doesn't want the man that got her pregnant and abandoned her to reap from the gains that come through the girl. That is her revenge. To her, that is justice served.
To go see the biological father might not go down well with your mother in law and she will hate you for this. Since your fiancee and her mother have disowned the man. They have acknowledged the step father as their father and husband, go and honour the step father with the necessary traditional items.
The biological father cannot come out of the blues and reap from where he didn't invest for over 20+ years of the girls life. It is an unfair trade. I think this is very shallow and myopic thinking. Imagine someday a medical emergency happens to their children and they need a close biological relative 's anatomy to solve the problem. Is it to the step father who has no blood ties to the kids he goes to or what? Think far ahead |

Hamachi: It's almost tempting to say lack of education or opportunities to make a decent living, but that would be me condoning their actions because both situations are still an issue in Nigeria.
Scamming in Nigeria is a byproduct of a judgemental society.
Scammers are nothing but greedy people who are trying to live up to a false image. They don't use the money to survive, they use it to live a pretend life. Nigeria has a big problem of marginalization and discrimination when it comes to social status. If you don't have this car or that house then you're a failure. Of course no one says this to your face, but you'll feel it based on how they treat you. You feel it from friends, family and even from a complete stranger.
He(the society) who holds the ladder is as bad as the thief(scammers).
The framing of this question is unfair to Nigerians as a whole, and that’s because of the word “culture”. Scamming Nigerians are the exception, not the rule. There is as much a culture of scamming in Nigeria as there is a culture of let’s say, xenophobia in South Africa, or a culture of homicide in the US. Scammers have inhabited the earth since the dawn of time. Nigerian scammers probably revolutionised the process but it is hardly a malaise deserving of cultural attribution.
That said, I will reiterate what others have said that the scamming epidemic in Nigeria ( which is actually in serious decline since the turn of the 21st century) is merely a symptom of some other far more debilitating disease - corruption.
Corruption in Nigeria goes far beyond the everyday definition you know which barely covers bribery and dishonest gain. It goes far beyond that to the realm of what Professor Pius Adesanmi aptly describes as an “ontological unfairness” of the Nigerian space which describes the ubiquitous brand of corruption that makes it inconceivable to live totally via an honest wage, or to totally be bereft of any corrupt act in your daily life. It is an almost impossible scenario, and a society like this will always have people in significant numbers who will latch on to any corrupt fad and explore it to the furthest frontiers. This is what makes Nigeria’s brand of scam look like it is a culture. It is not.
People do not train their children to be scammers. If they did, that is a culture. Scam artistes, save their brash show of wealth, are still very much inconsequential in general moral coding of the society. If it was otherwise, it will be a culture.
But it must be said that the abject leadership ineptitude and corruption in high places is slowly eating away the moral fabric of the society. There is gradually an erosion of consequences for corruption, mostly because the ruling class are neck-deep in it. When the trees were still the playground of the squirrels, if you made sudden wealth, people (your parents especially) will ask questions. That is no longer the case.
Parents now even tacitly encourage their wards to get rich by all means. Churches and places of worship which are the conscience of the society blatantly compete for wealth to the point of active engagement in ponzi schemes.
In the final analysis, the upcoming generation are left with the wrong incentives to respond to, which makes it harder to blame them, which exercabates the and widens the diameter of the vicious corruption circle.
The malaise is dangerously getting close to the notorious toga of culture. It remains to be seen if the slide can be arrested. Don't waste your time trying to educate that criminal. The day he finally gets caught is the day his education begins |
