Sir Richard Branson has been labelled many things – entrepreneur, adventurer, risk-taker – but there is one accolade he has long coveted: grandfather.

Happily, the Virgin tycoon’s eldest child, Holly, has granted Branson his wish – twice over – confirming yesterday that she is pregnant with twins. ‘Freddie and I are delighted,’ says Holly, who wed Virgin investment manager Freddie Andrewes in 2011.

Branson, 64, has harboured a desire to become a grandfather ever since he walked his daughter down the aisle, when he said: ‘I can’t wait – and with luck I’ll be one soon.’ Holly, 32, hasn’t yet revealed, however, whether her pregnancy will affect her plans to blast into outer space.

She is booked to fly alongside her father on Virgin Galactic’s first commercial space flight, scheduled for the end of the year. Will she board the flight and risk being the first woman to give birth in space? No doubt Branson, famous for his PR stunts, would relish the publicity.

The 'Mystere', spotted in wealthy Knightsbridge, is a £150,000 version of the famous British car which has been given an overhaul by German tuning house Hamann. The car, with the registration plate '666', has been flown over to the UK by its Saudi owner and is parked outside the expensive Wellesley Hotel. Last year, residents of West London complained the capital was being inundated with supercars, which they claimed were leading to unruly driving.

Meet nine-year-old Suman Khatun – one of the fattest kids in the world. Standing at just 3ft 5ins, and tipping the scales at a flabbergasting 14st 5lbs (203lbs), this child weighs five times more than she should. Captured on film, Suman is roughly the same weight as two Kylie Minogues, a Great Dane, or former England rugby player Jonny Wilkinson.

In one week, Suman, from West Bengal, India, munches her way through an incredible 14kgs of rice, 8kgs of potatoes, 8kgs of fish and about 180 bananas. All my friends are thin, but I am fat,’ says young Suman disconsolately. ‘I have problems in standing, sitting, sleeping, playing and running with my friends.’

Her parents claim they are powerless to prevent her stomach-defying eating habits. ‘I am very concerned about her future, as my other kids are normal,’ says mum Beli Bibi. ‘It’s painful,’ she adds. They have requested the help of the local doctor to manage her weight, who says: ‘We think she has hyperthyroidism, but she needs to be examined. ‘If it’s not controlled, she might get diabetes or heart diseases.’

Prisoners at a jail in Italy have produced a video of themselves performing Pharrell Williams track ‘Happy‘. The video, which was made with the blessing of prison officials at the Casa Circondariale Luigi Bodenza prison in Sicily, also includes prison guards and staff. It starts with an inmate cleaning the floor and according to a message at the start of the video, proceeds to show that ‘even inside it is possible to take part in the global movement for happiness’. The movement was sparked by the Pharrell Williams’ hit song of the same name. An introductory message says: “It’s the story of a dream – to try to be carefree – even behind bars,” before the video starts, which is called ‘Happy Dentro’, or ‘Happy Inside’.

The Vatican said Pope Francis had ‘a very affectionate’ meeting with Meriam Ibrahim, 27, her husband and their two small children. Ms Ibrahim, and her family arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport at around 9.30am on a plane provided by the Italian government (inset). The Sudanese mother in Rome who was put on death row for refusing to become a Muslim, blessing both her and the baby she had while in prison. Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said: ‘The Pope thanked Meriam and her family for their courageous witness and constancy of faith. The girl was discovered hanging from a tree near the village of Kaliabazar, West Bengal, this morning and angry villagers quickly rounded up a local ‘Tantrik’ holy man and his two friends. The trio were mercilessly beaten. One later died in hospital and the two others are still being treated. It was a grim reminder of the recent gang-rape case in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, where two sisters were raped and then hanged from a tree outside their village. After a string of high-profile cases, India has become notorious for savage sexual attacks on often young women and girls.

The victim in the most-recent case had gone missing last night, after apparently going out to the neighbourhood shop. The Hindustan Times reports that people went around the village to gather a search party, which found her body handing from a tree. Word spread and rumours began circulating that she had been gang-raped, spurring villagers to round up Ratan Das, a local Tantrik, or Hindu witchdoctor, and two of his associates. The mob beat up the men and also set fire to a house belonging to Das, who had been seen with the victim yesterday morning. Then they went to police.

According to The Punch a businesswoman, identified as Lizzy, has been found dead at her apartment on the Odusanya Oduguwa Crescent, Green Estate, Amuwo Odofin Area of Lagos State. The incident happened on Saturday morning. The 39-year-old indigene of Anambra State was murdered in cold blood by her boyfriend who also carted away her money, ATM cards, jewellery and a Range Rover Sport.

Our correspondent learnt from a police source that Lizzy, an executive in a networking firm, was planning to travel to the United States on Thursday (today) when she was strangled by the suspect. The source said,

“She was into networking and owned houses in different parts of Lagos. She was an international businesswoman and travelled round the world. “She had said she would be travelling to the US this week and had gone to the bank with her boyfriend to withdraw N4m. “When they both got to her house, the man tied her hands and strangled her. He took the money and went away in the car.”

When our correspondent visited the victim’s residence on Tuesday, he saw that the house was locked up. A security man, who did not identify himself, said the house was shut by the police. “The police have been here and they locked up the house,” he said. The deceased had four children from a previous marriage which had broken down.

He said, “She was initially married and even had four children. We learnt that her husband impregnated their maid and she said she could not live with the shame. She separated from the man.“Since then, she had had several boyfriends who promised her marriage but only duped her. She even had one of them arrested. The case is still with the police. “This last one that killed her, they had been dating for three months. The woman fell into this because she always opened up to those close to her.”

Our correspondent learnt from a police source that the suspect, after the crime, fled to a neighbouring country. He said, “The boy is on the run. He ran to Ghana with the woman’s Range Rover Sport and money. But he has no hiding place under the law. He will be arrested. You can’t kill a human being without expecting retribution.” The Police Public Relations officer, Lagos State Command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident. She said the police had begun investigations. She said, “Yes, the incident happened. She was murdered in her house on Saturday morning and investigations have begun to unravel the cause of her death.”

Israeli football team Maccabi Haifa’s game against French side Lille had to be stopped after pro-Palestinian protesters stormed the pitch. Supporters of reportedly Turkish origin ran onto the field in the Austrian stadium where the game was played and headed for the Maccabi players, sparking ugly scenes.

One of the players is seen to trip a fan before punches were thrown. The Maccabi players – some of whom retaliated – managed to leave the field unhurt.The incident comes amid fears of growing anti-Semitism in Europe at time when Israeli forces are locked in a violent conflict with militant group Hamas in Gaza.

Mario Balotelli has posted a photo of himself posing with what appeared to be a gun on Instagram. The Italian striker can be seen pointing the gun at the camera in the photo, which was accompanied with the message ‘big kiss to all the haters’. The 23-year-old later deleted the post. A 17-year-old girl from Turkey who stands at 7ft tall has been officially declared the world’s tallest female teenager. Rumeysa Gelgi who has a standing height of 213.6 cm (7ft 0.09 in), received the Guinness World Record award in a special presentation in her hometown of Safranbolu, Karabük. Rumeysa is an 11th grade high school student and lives at home with her parents and older siblings, who are all ‘normal’ height. Her height is caused by a condition called Weaver Syndrome – a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid growth.

In addition to her height, Rumeysa’s hands have grown measure 24.5 cm and feet 30.5 cm – the equivalent of a 12 in men’s shoe sizes. Her size causes her mobility problems, and she has a custom-built wheelchair and walking frame to help her get around. Rumeysa’s shoes are also custom made in America for her. She said while she has been subject to cruel taunts about her appearance in the past, people’s negativity no longer upsets her, and she puts it down to ignorance.

She said instead, she concentrates on the positives of being tall: ‘I like being different from everyone else. ‘It’s interesting and makes me feel special. It also provides me with easy access to high places, and looking down at people from above isn’t a bad thing either.’ Doctor Ömer Hakan Yavaşoğlu carried out the official measurements of Rumeysa, which in accordance with Guinness World Records guidelines were carried out at three different times in the same day.

Guinness World Records Official Seyda Subasi-Gemici said: ‘Guinness World Records celebrates diversity and recognises extraordinary people all over the world. ‘Rumeysa Gelgi has shown tremendous courage in the way that she has dealt with her condition, and it is an honour to meet and award her with the record title of Tallest Teenager.’ Rumeysa has been told that she is not expected to grow any further, so will not beat the record of Tallest Living Person and fellow countryman, Sultan Kösen, who measures 251 cm (8ft 3 in).

The Tallest Ever Female Teenager is Canadian Anna Haining Swan (b. 6 August 1846 – d. 5 August 1888), who reached a height of 241.3 cm (7ft 11 in). The Tallest Man on record is American Robert Wadlow who measured 272cm (8ft 11.1 in) in 1940.Rumeysa’s record will feature in the 2015 Guinness World Records book, out in September.

A New York woman has been arrested and charged with second degree murder after she made one of the sickest Facebook status updates ever, posting pictures of her dead baby’s corpse after smothering the helpless tot at bedtime.

Nicole “Nikki” Kelly uploaded an image of 11-month-old Kiam Felix Jr. lying in a white suit and tie with the caption “RIP Tinkabutt,” alongside a picture of his body in a hospital bed. She also posted a rambling Facebook screed in which she admitted she failed to “protect” the boy. Kelly wrote:

“Missing my baby boy so much wish there was some way I could bring him back to life. I feel horrible knowing he passed away. Am his Mother, I was supposed to protect him. I
know his spirit will always be around me . . .”

However, what Kelly didn’t say was that, she had killed the boy on Sunday by putting a sheet over his face as she tucked him into bed. Kelly watched the tot struggle to breathe before callously leaving him alone to die. When she came back a half-hour later, she found him blue and unresponsive, said Queens DA Richard Brown. When the boy’s father, Kiam ­Felix Sr., arrived at the family’s Elmhurst home several hours later, he rushed the boy to Elmhurst Hospital. Brown said that Kelly, when cops asked why she did it, allegedly said, “I reached my breaking point, I didn’t want him anymore.”

Kelly was charged with second-degree murder and was undergoing a psych exam at Elmhurst Hospital. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years to life behind bars.

During an interview alongside sisters Kourtney and Khloé with CNBC's Closing Bell on Monday, Kim Kardashian was asked her thoughts on whether she believes women can raise a family and have a successful career at the same time.

'I mean, I think that's just not really, like, a positive outlook,' she said of Nooyi's declaration that women simply 'pretend' they can have it all. 'My mom kind of taught us girls we could have it all.'

While the 33-year-old is of course in the very fortunate position of having a multimillion-dollar empire, with her bulging bank account affording her the luxury of hiring nannies to help with 12-month-old daughter North, and with a husband to share the load, she simply puts it all down to ‘prioritising’.

‘You know, [my mom] works hard. She taught us that if you work hard, it’s just all about prioritising,’ she continued.

‘I think that, yeah, it could get tough after you have a baby. There are so many times when I just didn’t want to get up and work on something and I just wanted to be home with my baby, but, for
me – and I think I can speak for my sisters – it makes us feel good when we are out working.’

She added:

‘If anyone really feels like they can’t do it all, I feel like it’s a little bit discouraging to say that. Even if I couldn’t and it wasn’t possible, I would try. And I would, you know, try my best to do

'I'll change into something sexy that he likes, whether that be booty shorts or a pair of boots, and I'll make it all about him and I'll do my little sexy moves. 'Sometimes he likes to use a camera because he likes photography, so he'll take pictures of me and we'll incorporate that into our sexy sessions.'

In addition, the model stresses the importance of 'tuning in to what your man likes'. She says:

'I know he loves shoes, he loves heels on me. I usually keep a pair of heels on the side of the bed, so I can just pop 'em on. 'I also know that he loves booty shorts and he likes me wearing them around the house. So that's another thing I tune in to. I try to cater to what he likes. I might not necessarily like it, but I know he likes it.'

Coco also explains that another 'big thing' for the long-time couple is their regular date nights.

'People, when they've been together for so long, they fall out of what was hot when they first got together,' she reasons. 'So what we like to do is dress up for each other - whatever he wants to see me in, whatever I want to see him in - and we go out to dinner, we'll go to a movie or we'll go to a club.'I think people should continue, no matter how long they've been together, to set around one day of the week and do something sexy for each other just one-on-one.'

Doctors have removed what is believed to be the world’s largest tumour from a man’s leg – after it grew to more than 17 stone. Yang Jianbin, 37, from Shanxi Province, China was born with a dark birthmark on the right side of his lower back – and noticed it getting larger when he was nine. By the time he was 12, it had increased to the size of a fist and he had surgery to remove it.

But despite medical intervention, it started to grow again and a recent hospital check in Beijing revealed that the tumour had increased to an enormous 110kg – more than 17 stone. Chief surgeon Chen Minliang said Yang suffered from Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that affects the normal growth and development of cell tissue. ‘We have seen neurofibromatosis patients before, but this is the biggest nerve tumour we ever saw,’ he said.

Yang had said previously that the huge tumour was so big he could only lie down or sit on bed all day. He was given two hospital beds to accommodate the 1.2m tumour, which made up two-thirds of his total body weight. Removal surgery involved nine doctors and lasted 16 hours. During the procedure, the patient received 5,000ml of blood, which is more than the entire amount an adult's body holds. But he is said to be recovering well and is expected to be discharged from hospital in Beijing later this month.
