Nichee: Skye bank audit shows negative capital position of N730bn
courtesy BusinessDay
…Mainstreet Bank acquisition partly financed with depositors funds
…Former GMD, Treasurer, CFO fingered
…CBN working out forbearance package to fill hole
(my comment - Nigeria has rewarded too many people for being inept, greedy, and outright criminal. these bankers have no right to criticize the civil servants and politicians. they aren't any better)
A forensic audit commissioned by the new board of Skye bank and carried out by KPMG and PWC has shown that the tier-two lender had a negative capital position of N730 billion by the end of June 2017.
On August 06, 2011, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (“NDIC”) and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria ("AMCON" after intensive negotiations through the night, announced that they have signed an agreement for AMCON to acquire Mainstreet Bank Limited, Keystone Bank Limited and Enterprise Bank Limited; being bridge banks created to acquire Afribank Plc, Bank PHB Plc and Spring Bank Plc respectivel I have to categorize this as fake news because I have searched business day archives in the past month and there is no trace of this story. If true, do us a favour and post the link where you got it from even if it is not businessday. |

Chibuking81: It also involve buying and selling. There is increase, i.e more gain accrue to the participating companies. In this price regulated environment for petrol, with subsidy and all the issues around it not being paid on time, i am still trying to understand how the advantage of increasing oil prices will play out. Eterna is a player in the downstream sector so i imagine the "lifting" in question is petrol. To start with, going from news item, only NNPC still find it attractive to import petrol to the country and distributes to others. This is because of the high cost and unwillingness by the majors or independents to import. If you take time to go through the financials of mrs, forte oil, conoil, the quarterly rev and profitability appear to be declining since oil prices started rising. Now i don't know if that corelation is real but it is worth testing. Having said that, i think Eterna still has some way to go in share price increase but for other "reasons" that i am still studying and trying to grasp, rather than increase in international crude oil prices. |

Chibuking81: Eterna might surprise their shareholders with the dividend between 70 kobo to #1.
Anyway 50kobo and above will be the expectation of the majority of their shareholders based on their good performance, and Fidelity 30 kobo and above. Because of CAR issues, 20k may be the ceiling for FidBank this year. |

WORD ON MARBLE FOR BULL AND BEAR MARKETS
There is the plain fool, who does the wrong thing at all times everywhere, but there is the Wall Street fool, who thinks he must trade all the time. No man can always have adequate reasons for buying or selling stocks daily—or sufficient knowledge to make his play an intelligent play."

Unless I am wrong, my interpretation of their div policy and forecast full year PBT wont support N2.44 as final DPS. |

RabbiDoracle: Decent dividend?
If GTB EPS is 6, however much do you think they will pay as dividend?
N3 is 6% at current price. This will be a record.
Then go to other stocks. Some no go even pay at all sef. Some we never see results for some years.
When the tide is down, we will see those that had been swimming unclad. I doubt GTB will pay up to N3 full year div. They revved up interim from 25k to 30k last year. I see full year div in the region of N2 - N2.10. More likely the lower band. |

And the Dividend Yield Award goes to . . . . .
a) b) c)
pls help us fill Prof For those who bought shares from November 2017, dividend yields on your stock are going to be sub 5%. It may still be attractive to you if you annualize considering how long you have held, and how quickly, and at what price you can dispose. My forecast Y/E dividend for some companies are as follows, so over to you guys. Do the yield calcaulations based on your Av. Cost Price: UCAP - 55k Afriprud - 50k UBA - 60k Zenith - N1.95 - N2.00 Fidelity - 18k - 22k FCMB - 10k Sterling Bank - 0k Diamond - 0k - 10k Access - 50k FBNH - 15k Eterna - 50k Transcorp - 5k DangSugar - N1 Nascon - 80k Danflour - 0k These figures are strictly my personal opinion from proprietary calculation and forecast, and not supported by any inside information. It is also not an invitation to buy/sell in anticipation of predicted dividends. Bottom Line: Be clear on why you are buying each share. |

onegentleguy: ...I don't hype my dear. ...Never had, and never will !! ...It's never in my personality. ...I only try to state facts. ...but I do not need to convince u for I am quite ok with the over 28 persons who have so far reached me to say a big thank u for my tip on SKYE and CAVERTON. ...Their joy gave me fulfilment !! However if u've been following my post, then u would've recalled that I predicted the SKYE to hit N1.5 from 0.50k than take a quick break before a slow rise to near N2, depending on market dynamics. ...and so it naturally makes so much sense for me to reduce my holding given that a target has been met. ...I just had to inform the house because of the homidge I have for it, and also because I am aware that a good no of persons here may have bought from my tip off. ...even though I am under no obligation to do so.
On CAVERTON, my prediction is still very much on course. ...For Mr TIME will soon add proof to that.
DD always advised pls. Okay. I needed to reconcile what you were saying on a public forum with your actions. Since you always advice further DD i guess that's okay. Like somebody pointed out, people should have their inestment strategies. |

onegentleguy: Herein was my revert post prediction on the SKYE when it was still trading @ 0.50k Today the SKYE hit N1.55 up from 0.50k. ...Chances are it could still rise a bit more albeit very slowly, but the probability will now narrow down as u travel down the road. ...And so because its an open and selfless forum, I have decided to bring to the attention of this great forum my actions and inactions today;
ON ACTIONS; Pls be informed that I've sold down 50% of my SKYE holding. ...I also intend to sell down another 40% tomorrow, while leaving the balance of 10% for some future proof of stake reasons.
ON MY INACTIONS; I always talked on the SKYE together with CAVERTON, so if u are wondering if I also exited the later then my answer is NO, and more and more bigger NO. ...For CAVERTON was, is and will still remain undervalued even @N4. ...As a matter of fact take it or leave it, our 'foreign hot money brothers who have been feasting here intend to take it a bit higher than that. ...and so even if there might be bumps on the way, Mr CAVERTON will ride up until it gets near the 5th boulevard.
The proceeds from the SKYE shall go into the next target of our 'foreign hot money brothers'. ...They have 2 core stocks in mind, and as soon as they play the melody, I would've been dancing beforehand. I have since added this 'follow the hot money brothers approach' to my very little knowledge of fundamentalism and technicalism.
...For now I am attending an audition in the black room for a succinct revelation. As recent as yesterday you were hyping both stocks for price gains...when did you get the "aha" moment to sell Skye? |

samzepaparazi: from what i studied in charts, a stock doesnt fall more than 15 to 20% during profit taking before appreciating again.
if this applies to transcorp, then 2.04 will be the 20% drop from 2.55. 20% to 15% is the also the range people place their stop loss.....
be doing mathematics when your money is on the line.
if it closes at 2.14 today, that will be a 16% drop. that falls in the range.
what do you think? How many company charts did you study, and over what time period? |

Chibuking81: Most at times, most of humans are greedy, including everyone. When one succeeded, he will be a smart one, but when one failed, he will be a greedy fool.
For instance, Sky bank has no good news that pushes it above 100% up. Those who joined at @ 60 kobo and 70 kobo, are the smart ones now, but has it been that the price reverse back to car park, without an opportunity for an exit door, many will label them greedy fools.
