I had never heared of you guys before now. Comparisons with HBR etc. aside, are you an online publisher or do you have hard copy editions? If you do, where can it be bought?
allCopacetic: WARNING if youre in the market right now for cables you need to be very very careful!!! the recent increase in prices of “Made in Nigeria” cables has further widened the gap between real Nigeria cables and thier imitations or fake.
Note: when i say imitation or fake i dont mean some imported unknown brand that merely has onething-onething Nigeria wire and cable engraved on the body,( these you can easily avoid just by thier name) I'm talking about imitations of our major cable brands… same name, same label, packaging same all that.
The current price increase has practically doubled the profitability and hence increased the supply of imported variants of these real Made in Nigeria cables. Its a gold mine right now for many sellers. They remove a few hundred bucks from the prevailing market or distributor prices so the price doesn’t appear suspicious or too good to be true and…. slam dunk! Buyers be falling over themselves.
The first time i heard that an exact imitation of COLEMAN was in the market was last week saturday when i ws discussing with another distributor about another impending (possible) increase .He mentioned it and I thought he was exaggerating and it was probably just another closely spelt name. between saturday and today, i have confirmed this inforamtion from two other reliable sources. that this cable is infact growing in circulation and is being secretly sold to sellers on a tight man-know-man arrangement. obviously no benefactors will be willing to point a finger. What makes these cables even more dangerous is that for an end user and many electricians its impossible to detect from mere visual inspection of the coil because the engraved name, label and packaging are identical. you have to dig deeper.
So Since they're identical, whats the big deal in buying them??... they're only identical in appearance (branding & packaging) In terms of value quality and content... what you're getting is a far cry from the real deal.. at almost the same cost.
You looseout in one or more of these three areas: (1) conductor diameter (2) conductor material (3) cable length
....contd
I got the shock of my life when i got a quote direct from a reputable manufacturer in the East. This explains it. They have increased prices and i think this just creates opportunities for foreign cables to take over the market.
Are you sure these pictures are pictures of your works? I have seen or know the real contractors who did two of the jobs in the attached pictures and it is not you?
brabus: @ TLAX, Meet Brabus at Suite H52, Ikota Shopping Complex, off Lekki/Epe Expressway, Lagos at anytime of your choice tomorrow. Just imagine how they'll rush to tell you that I quickly rent back the office this night and refurnish it again before the cock crow. I don't operate on the street and I don't expect you to pick words from the street. #StreetTiTakeOver ________ Meanwhile, I'm enjoying my Obey Commander music to help me relax this night.
3strikes: please stop using Suite H52, Ikota Shopping Complex, off Lekki/Epe Expressway, Lagos...This shop belongs to Omega fashion design now. words on the street is that previous tenant was evicted. Deny and I will post some documents.
Really? ...but...but..he said he is still there just a couple of weeks ago.
After all that elaborate work in makeover of the place? Damn!
MrDavidson: Please let's not allow tribalism kill us. I'm sure many of us were expecting to see names like Chuk... or Ade.... The truth is, we need to know that the north is very diverse ethnicity-wise. Someone bearing names such as Aliyu could be a Hausa man from Kano, a Fulani man from Sokoto, an Ebira or Igala from Kogi, a Kanuri from Borno, a Yoruba from Kwara, etc - all in the north.
There are at least 50 languages spoken in Adamawa state alone, not to talk of the Nupes from Niger or Kwara. Let's stop lumping the north as one. It's possible that Buhari has not even appointed up to 18 Hausas since he took over.
However, when you hear names like Chukwuka, you're 100% sure he's Igbo unlike in the north. Or when hear names such as Ayokunle, he would be a Yoruba person. Please let's try to understand this very important truth.
Nonsense. Chukwuka is a name answered by people from south east, south south and north central. You don't know what you are talking about. Apologist.
AZUH: @ egunmogaji you and I knw the truth . Are you building that house for a client ? Be careful some people don't have power to fight like mavverick they will just go to baba . ...........I am a business man and I think I am we'll exposed . Bosun is a professional builder . For mavverick case I don't really know what happened sometimes it's like that .
Finally Azuh...you spell the name correct. I dey clap for you o.
n3xt: Since you love my stories, here's one from my PH project to teach you some lessons.
You'll recollect the 6" block saga in the "Let's build this house" project.
Here's the other part of the story.
There's no need to recapture how the client came on Nairaland with his builders estimate to build the house and everyone including myself told him that the quote is fair to some extent even though all of us are not really familiar with the terrain.
You'll think I've done what I should have done. No! I went ahead to request that they should get me a local engineer who is familiar with the terrain to work with till we have a good understanding of the work environment. This will help us a lot especially in an environment where the major prob is language barrier. I never knew I was setting up myself for failure with this singular act.
To cut the long story short, we left the project and the same man you see in blue jean in the picture below finished up the house.
Halleluyah!
Brabus ________ Moral of the lesson | Beware of the praise singers.
I am not sure the situation you described above is the same as the one these two young men faced. I remember that build...let's just let by gones be by gones and not try to rewrite history. E no go favour you.
back2sender: Baba oshi radarada. Its you that your life and that of your generations are useless. An old man covering fraud which means you are a fraudster yourself because it takes 2 to tango. I will keep saying it you are a sissy and a foooolish man, your tail behind your back.
Look at the way you are displaying your foolishness and stupidity. So because I didn't come to nairaland property section to open a thread it has become "covering fraud" to you.
I repeat, it is nobody's business how I deal with what happened at my site. No rule that says anyone should open a thread and let the whole world know what happen at any work site.
Continue to exercise your right and display your foolishness on a Sunday afternoon.
You are such a foolish and hopeless nonentity looking for someone to put you out of your misery.
It is your right to wail, cry, and eventually kill yourself. No one cares.
Here is a noose. Go ahead and kill yourself.
Are we still on this? The matter has shifted to this thread. This thread is even more active now than when the building was in progress.
Nothing as good as an "insult trading opportunity" to stir things up.
It was a Smoot ride for us, we settled well in the locality, people there were friendly and they missed our absence. Ethnicity was never the issue for us because my cast were ethnically diverse. My iron bender is an ibo guy from imo state, electrician a guy that has been with me since port Harcourt is an ibo guy from ebonyi state, my carpenters were hausas and yorubas, Amy brick layers were hausas and yorubas, most of my labor were igbos and hausas. I have a very diverse group of committed young men working for me.
We started the project with one Mr prince (a civil engineering graduate not too sure), he was in charge of logistics, procurements of materials and general running around. He was very helpful and humble and he is guy that was interested in the good of the project, he was a young guy in out age bracket and we enjoy working with him. He put in lot of effort, sometimes I do pity him from the stress inflated on him from Mr in lagos.
He was always around and made things easier for us. We settled down quickly with him. Later run Mr Chidi (the main owners relative) join the party, he was also good and we get along very well. All these men were good people and have nothing to do with what happen here.
Mr understanding of the whole issue was that Mr Tony wanted people he can control any how, he saw young enthusiasts people like us and he taught that yes!! '' These guys are small and they can be treated any how job wish''
I may be a small dude but I am not that naive to understand basic things, a man in his late twenties and early thirties in a country with life expectancy rate of 45years is not that small. I am not any way insinuating that we have seen it all but I know I am old enough to make decisions for my self, I am a responsible father and a husband, podosci is also a father.
I don't believe any of those two guys were responsible for what happened since Mr Tony told them not to visit the site again after we left and he refuse to pay them the money he was owing them.
As a matter of fact, Harney team leader (either or podosci or abdulwastecx or both) were always on ground throughout the whole duration of the project, we supervised the whole project based on the structural design and where errors were made with the design we called on the parties involved before any correction were made. We have all the conversation recorded.
You and Pososci have discharged yourself well and you have nothing to worry about. The way life works is that the dividend for this project is further down the road in many folds.
Thanks for the epic lesson to Brabus about work place diversity and not seeking the well beaten path of blaming personal failures on ethnicity, religion and the devil!
