I dont get why God decided to tell the bible using diffreint persons , i mean y not one person. Y not one Jesus. Y nott just tell the bible through him instead of using various persons to avoid all these missunderstanding. It could have been better. |
9. Bus Conductor There’s the long working hours. There’s the life threatening occupation of hanging half-outside a speeding bus while keeping an eye out for passengers. There’s the smoke and the people you have to deal with everyday. But the worst -ultimate worst- part of being a bus conductor is having to shout out the unpronounceable names of bus stop names while mentally calculating how much changeyou owe the guy in the distracting pink shirt. It easily combines our two worst activities: Shouting unpronounceable bus stop names and mathematics. That’s why they sweat so much. You would too, if your entire day consisted of shouting such destinations as: Oshodioshodioshodiosh OjuelegbaOnipanPangrooo. And then solving maths while doing all that. It ain’t easy, we assure you 8. PHCN Electrician/Technician First of all, working for PHCN is already considered not cool by the general populace. There was this guy in Secondary school whose dad worked for The Authorities, and every time the lights went off, we’d all look at him and shake our heads. So not only is working for PHCN not cool, butbeing the Electrician/Pole Guy who has to goaround cutting people’s power lines just hasto suck in the worst way. You’re like the bad news guy the Army sends to tell families they’ve lost someone in battle. Only imaging if it’s an army that’s already generally hated by the populace. It’s up to you to ride in that van with the ladder, get to someone’s house, climb up thepole, disconnect the power, look down, see the crowd of angry faces waiting for you at the bottom, and decide whether descendingthe ladder is the best option for your generalhealth and longevity. 7. Traffic Control Officials (eg LASTMA) Everybody’ in Lagos knows who the LASTMA are. Nobody likes them. There job description consists mostly of stopping you when you desperately need to be somewhere important and having the most dull drawn out conversations. You’ll never hear a conversation like: “Oh, there are the LASTMA. Let’s go hang out with them.” Or “Hey, let’s get them some drinks shall we?” Never. You just know you’re in the wrong line of work if the mere sight of you causes 20,000 people to start saying mean things about your uncle’s father’s friend in the village whom they’ve never even met before. Plus you are always at the risk of being hit by an angry driver who is hellbent on not getting caught by you. 6. Banker Okay, some may not quite agree with including this on the list. To everybody who wants to be a banker: Undeceive yourselves. Do yourselves a favor and change your future ambitions as soon as possible. It is a trap. Banking jobs are sort of like babies. You see them all cute and cuddly and you’re like, “Awww, I’d really like to have one of my own.”. Then you decide to have one of you’re own and one day you’re up by 3 a.m changing diapers and you realize that somebody, somewhere, engaged in a bit of false advertising. Bankers have it the worst. Their working hours are horrible. The Tellers sit behind counters all day counting money (other people’s money for that matter) and dealing with the most obnoxious customers (to be honest, we ourselves have been the obnoxious customer many a time). Then youstay back after work closes and balance accounts. And if you make some small computing error, you can’t leave until you sort that out. And then they’re targets and goals and deadlines and stuff and about 100million fresh eager graduates out of school just waiting to take your job. Next time you go into a bank, show a little compassion will you? Those people have it hard. There was this guy behind the counterwhere I formerly used to bank, and every time I went there, his face was a cry for help.It was like dud, get me out of here. You do not want to be a banker. Especially not in Lagos. Trust me. 5. Internet Cafe Owner Remember 2001? Internet Cafe Owners had it good that year, didn’t they? Nobody understood what the internet was really about and we were all easy prey. We’d spend1 hour waiting for an available system, hoping the guy with 12 minutes remaining wasn’t going to purchase more time. Then you’d pay some ridiculous amount for your one hour ticket. You’d sit there in front of your system for 30 minutes waiting for Yahoo Messenger to finish loading. And at the end of it, you’d look at the owner and say Thank You Sir, For Letting Me Use Your Internet Facilities. Now if you’re an internet cafe owner, it may be beginning to dawn on you that maybe, just maybe, you’re in the wrong line of business. Maybe it’s those empty seats. Maybe it’s the drastic reduction in cashflow. Maybe it’s just how people don’t really need you anymore. Maybe it’s how people don’t even bother to accuse you of harboring Yahoo guys. Everybody’s got a laptop now. And those who don’t have smart phones. And guess what, they can access the internet too. Internet cafes have gone from this: |

What does it evenmeanto be a "Christian"? Should we argue endlessly over whether the LORD God exists in "all possible words"? Should we fabricate ridiculously sounding terms like "particularism" or "providentialism"? ...or, are we called to live like Christ, simply and to ourselves? For me , it's the latter. I spend time reading the Bible, and studying the Old and the New Testaments, not because I wish toargue with peopleabout it, but rather so I can enlighten people and draw them nearer to Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior. If people were convinced by defending our faith in philosophy, then they'd already be Christiansand we could already have these conversations with them So I leave you with one final sentence...think about it...God called us in the Bible to spread the Gospel and the good news of our risen Savior...not to come up withboring logical outlines |
. First, yes, there are some atheists that, admittedly, don't want a god to exist. Consider Thomas Nagal: "It isn"t just that I don"t believe in God and, naturally, hope that I"m right in my belief. It"sthat I hope there is no God! I don"t want there to be a God; I don"t want the universe to be like that." So, yes, there are atheists that don't want there to be a god. Any god. However, it does not follow from this statement that they want to go to a place of eternal punishment. What atheists like Nagel don't want to exist is theentirescenario: Heaven, Hell, God, the entire package. That does not, itself, lead to any preferences should all of that actually exist. If you tell me that someone is behind me, waiting to stab me in the back, and I don't believe you, that doesn't mean Iwantto be stabbed in the back. Second, it still possible for me towanta god to exist yet still not believe in one. Since I acknowledge that reality doesn't conform to my wishes, I realize that what I want isn't always the case. This seems like a very basic and fundamental thing to believe, but it seems that some Christians don't. They believe that reality is whatever they want it to be; whatever they believe is the case, they also want to be the case. It seems odd, personally. Regardless, there are plenty of things Iwantto be the case that I don't believearethe case |
Compare Islam"s heaven to Buddhism. In Buddhism your reward for following it is enlightenment and all knowledge of the universe and life. The prize for Muslims is to offer you indulgences in excess sex. Wisdom is not mentioned, or if it is, I have not heard of it. Muslims. Is such a heaven really something to strive for a nuances of reality or want to live in a porn movie. It's truly fast food for the masses, an advertisement that everyone can comprehend because it appeals to one'sbasest drives. Our Sexuality. Do you really picture Jesus and Mohamed in heaven with a bunch of virgins moving on and off their engorged members? Do you picture Mary, watching such activity with pride? |
Is Islam shallow for using sex in heaven as it"s main draw for Muslim men 70 virgins in heaven. Are Muslim men shallow for falling for such an obvious lie? Compare Islam"s heaven to Buddhism. It's difficult to get computers to think like humans, so mathematicians are trying the opposite. A proposed mathematical framework forces humans to think more like machines in order to harness the remarkable ability of computers to rapidly check proofs. The framework provides the possibility of proofs that can't be wrong – and so wouldn'tneed to be laboriously checked by humans. It could also be the first step towards computers carrying out mathematics by themselves, and perhaps even more advanced forms of artificial intelligence. Mathematical proofs are becoming so complex that even other mathematicians have a hard time following them. One solution is to use computer-verified proofs, in which software double-checks each logical step in a proof to ensure its correctness. There's just one problem – the current foundations of mathematics, laid down around a hundred years ago, make it difficult to translate human-written proofs into ones that machines can follow. Now a team of mathematicians led by Vladimir Voevodskyof the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton say they have a new, 21st century way to do maths, working in collaboration with computers by speaking their language. http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21829233.400-mathematicians-think-like-machines-for-perfect-proofs |

What comes to mind when you think of street preachers, street evangelism, etc.? What do you think most Christians think of these things? For many in the Church these ideas bring to mind images of crazed arrogant people with a bullhorn and a few large signs with Bible verses on them. They imagine the presentation of such evangelism to be centered on external sins and even irrelevant issues (fornication, smoking, drinking, etc.) with a minor mention of Jesus if any. The phrases “turn or burn” or “hellfire and brimstone” may come to mind. These stereotypes are understandable. These people do exist and do head out to the streets and the front of concerts every weekend. you hear statements like "God is angry with the wicked every day…” –Psalm 7:11This is true. This is Scripture. What was missing however was the other side of the story… the grace of the gospel. While these people have good intentions and seem to miss the mark we can’t judge all of it and say it’s wrong or that only some people are gifted for street evangelism. Anyone can do this and it will be a rewarding experience that will challenge your personality and perceptions. We can correct this stereotype without ignoring both the truth and the grace of the gospel and do so in an attitude of earnest loving concern for souls. how do you view street preachers ? |
post reasonable quotes about theism here e.g This most beautiful system of the sun, planets and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.” ― Isaac Newton, There seem to be only two kinds of people: Those who think that metaphors are facts, and those who know that they are not facts. Those who know they are not facts are what we call "atheists," and those who think they are facts are "religious." Which group really gets the message?” ― Joseph Campbel There is no indisputable proof for the big bang," said Hollus. "And there is none for evolution. And yet you accept those. Why hold the question of whether there is a creator to a higher standard?” ― Robert J. Sawye “It is either coincidence piled on top of coincidence," said Hollus, "or it is deliberate design.” ― Robert J. Sawye “No one disputes that seeming order can out of the application of simple rules. But who wrote the rules?” ― Robert J. Sawyer, “The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.” ― Criss Jami No man will say, "There is no God" 'till he is so hardened in sin that it has become his interest that there should be none to call him to account.” ― Matthew Henry I am not here to merely argue about the perplexities regarding theism or philosophy, but to be a light to the world and to reach out to those who long to be a part of that light.” ― Criss Jami |
Atheists Becoming More Aggressive in America? Billboards promoting atheism and attacking Christianity have popped up across the country. The American Humanist Association has launched a special website for children to indoctrinate them in atheism. An atheist rally in Washington DC last year had a special promotion to encourage kids to attend their atheist camps. Atheists have been increasingly using terms like “child abuse” to describe the efforts of Christians who seek to teach their children about creation, heaven, and hell. Many atheists claim that children belong to the community, not to their parents. Atheists have actively opposed any effort in public schools to even question a belief of evolution or suggest there are any problems w A friend of one of the parents who has a child enrolled in the fourth grade class posted the quiz sheets on the internet. The parent, like all parents who have children enrolled at this academy, had signed a statement, which acknowledged an understanding that sending their child to this Christian school would mean they would be taught biblical Christianity. The parent expressed dismay that his daughter was taught a biblical approach to dinosaurs. The quiz’s posting to the internet resulted in a number of atheist websites reposting the questions and answers, and many of them responded in rage and vehement attacks on the school. The school administrator, relatively new as the head of the academy, was shocked to find her school becoming the target of atheist attacks and even some threats. Articles on mainstream websites (like a Seattle TV station over 2,500 miles away), a UK website, and other places on the internet made the controversy grow even larger. Now, this Christian academy is not a large school. Yet the atheists went after it with incredible fervor. The school administrator informed us she knew that the school would be involved in a spiritual battle after the quiz went public, but she was not expecting such ferocity. She told us she was shocked at the level of hate that the atheists poured down upon her, the teacher, and the school in general. For the next two years, our special theme for the Answers in Genesis ministry is “Standing our Ground, Rescuing our Kids” (Galatians 1:4). We, too, have experienced recent increased attacks by atheists, especially whenever they discover we are influencing children with the truth of God’s Word. These anti-God people hate the fact that Christians are teaching children to stand on the authority of the Bible; they want to be the ones teaching children and indoctrinating them into atheism. Even children’s TV host Bill Nye has recently made many harsh statements against those of us who teach creation to children. In a way, what is happening to this Christian school and also to the Romeike family should be a warning to all Christians: the atheists want your children. They are aggressively trying to demonize and marginalize Christians in their attempts to recruit your children for atheism or secularism. Though we praise God for the minority of Christian “missionaries” who work as teachers in the public school system (and who need our prayers), government schools have increasingly become, in essence, churches of atheism. We are aware that the overwhelming majority of children raised in the church attend public schools, and thus it should not be surprising that with all the secularist indoctrination in schools, about two-thirds of our young people brought up in church are walking away from it by the time they reach college age. (See the book Already Gone for details.) As we wrote yesterday on this website, the growing anti-Christian attacks in America should be a warning to the church that a chasm is widening between what is Christian and what is not. Christians can no longer straddle both sides of the chasm, for it’s getting wider. They will ultimately have to decide which side they will stand on! And if those who are on God’s side stand their ground on His Word without compromise, then they may face persecution of various forms. More than ever, God’s people need to be standing up publicly and unashamedly for the authority of His Word. The authors of this web article have been highly impressed with the spiritual quality of this school, the administrator, and the teacher involved as they have had to cope with some very vicious attacks.1 We were encouraged to read on the school’s website that the Academy believes, “God’s truth is authoritative and is the foundation for all living and learning in order to develop a biblical worldview, while both understanding the culture in which they live and being ready to confidently defend their faith.” It must be frustrating for Blue Ridge Christian Academy for another reason right now. Like many Christian schools, it has been struggling financially during this recession. And, of course, they don’t receive the tax money that public schools get. At AiG, we want to help this school be a good example to the entire Christian community of how all believers should defend our faith and stand our ground so that more of our children can be rescued from this evil world. Galatians 1:4 states that Christ “gave Himself for our sins, .answersingenesis.org/articles/2013/04/30/atheists-attack-christian-school |

[quote author=ghostofsparta]Why are most atheist Professor or Scientists is dead WRONG! The correct title should have being Why Are Most Scientists and Professor Atheists? And my answer is, simply because: 1. The abrahamic God haven't the slightest proof of existence much less of being a concept subjectable to experimental test. Unlike the ancestral Yoruba deities like Ogun/Shango/Sopana, who are easily testable/verifiable by defying their taboos(easy proof of existence )2. Atheists disbelieve not only in Gods and deities, but not in the supernatural, thinking everything that can exist can be analyzed scientifically, which I think it's true but only to a certain extent otherwise how can modern science explain unable to being affected by a bullet/machette cut or teleporting or how can they explain this. 3. Sixty Symbols have answered it long time ago. [/quote i think you are mmisunderstanding the question. Many african scientistt and proffessor are God belivers.. |
