y'all want to know which of Man-U & Arsenal team played better against Barcelona in UEFA CL 2011? If you really want to know, ask Barcelona players and pitch-side staff. I would suggest you add real madrid to your enquiry and listen to what the blaugrana has to say.

The dispositions and attitudes of each member of the blaugrana (from coach to reserve goalkeeper) says a lot about who threatened Barcelona the most.
Against Arsenal and Real, Barcelona players sought every opportunity to harass or beg the match officials for favors. Deceiving the officials was there hallmark in those two matches.

Many pundits have portrayed Messi as the world's best ever player. I've never heard ANYONE making the same argument for Ronaldo. Messi is being compared to the likes of Maradona. Ronaldo on the other hand, is at a lower level.

I agree. Ashley Young is overrated BUT Alexis Sanchez is being chased by too many top sides too. Mata, on the other hand, is also an excellent prospect but we would have to pull some serious strings since Valencia would offer him Champions League participation next season while we wouldn't. I really won't mind Ezekiel Lavezzi in a red shirt though.

I'll gladly eat my words; Maxi is on fire!! Suarez is a spectacular with his movement and drive (see bgees post above) and as for Kuyt, he's been my favourite this season. That man's so honest it's unbelievable!

I dont know the definition of negative approach. No team can beat Barca with an "open" play at this level. The last time Arsenal try to do that they were 3 goals down within 45 minutes.

Really? The last time Arsenal tried it, they beat Barca. Hercules, Real Sociedad and Real Betis weren't ultra defensive but still beat Barca this season by putting their defence under a bit of pressure.

Though i do not blame him doing that, the last time he played footy with Barca, he was trounced 5-0 but you do not play defensive in your home ground when you have world class players in your team. Does it mean Jose have so much respect for Barca considering his defensive formation?

I agree he had a massive respect for Barca but it is absurd that with all the striking force Madrid posses, they decide to go so defensive. You have players like Benzema, Kaka, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Higuain e.tc What a waste!!! With such a striking force, and a postive approach even Barca would retreat and it would be a beautiful game, infact ecxiting. Capello won the League title and was sacked hours later for playing such negative football!

All those saying that the red card won the game are just awfully lazy! Mourinho's 'tactics' consisted of;

1. Playing 3 Holding Midfielders and NO Striker AT HOME!!

2. Deploying Pepe to kick the Barca players into submission (had worked till this game)

3. Leaving Cristiano alone in attack (AT HOME)

4. Leaving the Santiago grass untrimmed for weeks to discourage Barca's passing game and encourage lobbed balls to Ronaldo

5. Attack Guardiola verbally

The truth is that they played negatively, awfully and had only 22% of the possession. These short-comings had NOTHING to do with the red card. A total of 2 goals in four matches against Barcelona this season (so far) is hardly worth calling anyone 'special' for.

As for those who detest Messi, it can only be for his brilliance (and their lack of it). How could you hate such a humble, ruddy talent? As someone mentioned, he reminds me of Damien in the Omen movies!

I really do hope for a 5-0 drubbing of Madrid by Barca. Annoying club made more obnoxious by an infuriating manager

With barca only scorin a goal in the first half,and bosquet scorin a equaliser,the ref knew that barca was on their way out of the CL. So he took it upon himself to push barca thru. I have never seen a striker collect a second yellow card for being offside,or 'wasting time'.
Everybody except fools know that that single ref decision is the reason barca went thru.  
We arsenal fans have nothin to be ashamed of. We have shown that at full strength and without any bias,we will knock barca out over two legs.

Silly comment. I think it's easy (and lazy) to blame the referee for the outcome of the match and Arsenal always does so. A smarter manager would concentrate on finding out why his team could not muster a single shot on goal for 90+ mins!! His players should take a long, hard look at themselves and question their performance. After all, the ref would never place a ban on them from getting on the score sheet.
