[quote author=Obidike jr.]hello homies, hope ya'all having a nice day...
gotta couple or more Qs to ask and i'll really appreciate your comments on them...have gotten admission in a school up west and i'll be preparing to go for my visa interview come october...a friend left for NY four days ago gave me few tips b4 he flew ova but ah need more...

1. How do I pay my SEVIS fee? heard d online debit card payment doesn't work for Nigerians

2. the financial/bank statement is exactly 9 months old, if am going for the interview do I need a new one? note* mi sponsor ain't sponsoring me anymore am jus using the bank statement in her name, so I wont be able to ask her to make a fresh one for me again.

3. note* i got admission in a community college (2yrs)...While reading through my i-20,
something struck my mind. On my
i-20 it is written that I will be
spending 2 yrs in the states (for my
studies), but I have plans of
transferring to a four year Bachelor
degree awarding uni. The question is,
if am eventually asked during my visa
interview how long am I going to stay
in the US. would my reply
be 2years or 4years (explaining to
them the reason) ?

4. Also, since i will be extending my stay
in the US to four years (or more for Ms), my
International passport will be expiring
june 2015, just to be on the safer side
and avoid any risk should I renew or
apply for a fresh international
passport before going for my Visa
interview?

Thank you
Obidike Paul C.[/quot

If you have anybody in the US can help u pay ur sevis fee via money order or cheque or western union. if you are asked how long u will stay in US just tell them 2yrs, don't even think of telling them that u will transfer to a Uni after 2yr at CC. I dont kw wat to say abt ur passport.

You friend that traveled 4days which school is he studying at, Uni or CC?

@Ricky and everyone,

Gat info about transferring immediately you arrive US..... READ checkout the link.

Initial Status Transfer

If you arrive at a US school from abroad and decide to immediately transfer you must first report to the school listed on your Form I-20. The School DSO should activate your SEVIS record and transfer it to the new school you plan on attending.

Travel During Transfer Process

If you plan on leaving the country during the transfer process keep in mind that you must reenter with a Form I-20 for the school that holds your active or initial record. So travel must be either:

Started and completed before the transfer release date with an active Form I-20 from the transfer-out school
Started and completed after the transfer release date with an initial Form I-20 from the transfer-in school

You can send it yourself but you have to package it to make it look official. You can customize and seal the envelop.

dahonestboss: Hello Mates

Just thought I might be of help to prospective Applicant who would like to apply for a MASTER degree programme in Finland. The application period will start in 1st of December 2012 to January 2013, And if you would like to apply and need genuine information, kindly post it here and I will get back to you.

Note that studying in Finland is entirely free, from the online application till when you are accepted and there are no tuition fee thereafter. Degrees from Finland are highly respected worldwide and they have some of the world best university that features in the top hundred universities every year e.g. university of helsinki, Aalto university, helsinki university of technology etc.

Many international organisation has rated Finnish educational system as the best in the world including WEF (world economic forum). Finland is also a Schengen country, which gives you an advantages to travel around Europe visa free.

I did everything myself when I was applying to come here recently, and it was successful, and I would like to share some info to genuine applicant who wish to apply in the upcoming application period.

you can visit www.universityadmissions.fi to get acquainted on how to apply and the school requirement on each courses, its very easy and straight forward.

For undergraduate student, I might not be able to help because Nigerian applicant would be invited to Finland instead of Ghana (of which you cant get a visa to come for exam, its written boldly on the Finnish embassy website in Abuja), but if you live in another schengen country, or has a passport with visa free to to the schengen states, then I might help, but familiarize yourself with the info on these page first

https://www.nairaland.com/577919/study-finland-september-tuition-free

Master degree are the easiest, without the need for any entrance exam, gmat, SAT etc.

Scandinavia is nice and peaceful, smiley smiley smiley

Ricky Rozay: See let me tell you something, Many schools in the US will always want you to do ATLEAST a semester with them before you can transfer to another university or community college of your choice..

Although, it it NOT imposiible for you to transfer immediately when you get to the US, but it depends on your school's policy for transfers. So you will need to check with the appropriate department in charge of transfers in the school when you get to the US before you make any decisions..

So another useful tip I can give to you is that when searching for your desired schools, put into consideration their per semester tuition rate, if it is affordable for you or your parents just incase you are NOT allowed to transfer immeditately, you can easily find a way to struggle to pay for the first semester tuition fee then you can quickly transfer to the community college of your choice and start the second semester with them.

So you need to be careful as not to get stucked with a school with high tuition rate for a semester which you won't be able to afford and If you can't pay your tuition fee when you are currently enrolled in your school, you will fall out of status and get deported back to Naija. Which I know it is something you don't wanna pray for.. So search wisely bro..

But for the main time, you can check out this link below; it will be helpful to you as well;

Ricky Rozay: Many US schools DON'T accept scanned or faxed documents for admissions.. It's Only a few of em that accept it.. The least they will ACCEPT from you is a Notarized copy of your academic certificate..

See what you will do, Search for your desired schools and after short listing em out, then send an email to their international admissions office to ask if they accept Scanned documents OR Notarized documents..

They will let you know which one is ACCEPTABLE for admissions...

Cheers...
Thank u so much. You guys are wonderful. Again, if I get an F1 visa with a university and wish to transfer to a community college, is it possible to transfer immediately or will I be required to do one year in the university?

Thank u. Do u know any good university that accepts scanned
or fax copies of documents?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by Tochium:
Ricky Rozay: Pls Bros, NEVER send your certificate to any school for admission if requested because you are Never getting it back from the school..

Any documents submitted to schools becomes the school's Property, so if you send your Certificate to them, they will NEVER send it back to you because it has become the school's property.

If they accept scanned copies, then you can scan and send it to em by email,

But if they DON'T accept scanned copies then the Best you can do is to make a Coloured photocopy of the certificate which will look exactly like the Original one, then take it to a law court and have it NOTARIZED... Simple!!!!!!

Cheers bro...
' Thanks, u are right. pls how do I forward my Toefl score to from ETS? Do u know any good university that accepts scanned or fax copies of documents?

foohard: Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) is a public university in Weatherford and Sayre, Oklahoma. It is one of seven state regional universities in the state of Oklahoma. SWOSU is placed at Tier 1 in the category "Regional Universities (West)" in the 2011 U.S. News & World Report.[4] SWOSU has 15 nationally accredited academic programs--the most among Oklahoma's senior regional universities.

@bolded.. sounds good. relatively small in endowment though but I feel you are good to go with it cos it a public school.
Thank you, I just filed my application to Southwestern Oklahoma State University (they accept online application), next week i will FedEx my documents and certificate to them. Please how do i send my TOEFL SCORE to them from ETS?

Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Drexel University accept my Toefl for normal admission, please i want to know if Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Drexel University are good enough, can i get a visa with either of them? I need reply before i proceed with their applications.

foohard: I dont think it will affect your chances. However, wait for gurus in the house to throw more light.

As regards ESL, I bet you want to retake your TOEFL/IELTS because the cost of taking ESL can do a lot for you in your proposed program as against the 27k/35k that you would pay for the english test here. If you financially buoyant sha, you may take the ESL option.
Thank u bro for ur advice, the truth is that I already have admission at a community college in TX but I was denied visa last month, I deferred ma admission at the community college till spring. I was advice that it is easier to secure a visa using a university instead of community college then when I arrive I can transfer back to community college.

Guys i need your advise, is it good to opt in for conditional admission in a university? My TOEFL Score did not meet the required cutt-off for the university i intend to apply for admission. The school said they can grant me conditional admission which means i will do ESL before i begin my course proper. I want to know if this will affect my chances of getting a VISA at the embassy.

dyvinson7: Hmmn interesting Kings University www.kingsu.ca says they are interested in admitting Nigeria students

I was looking at U.K, U.S and Canada Universities and i found this school as the cheapest of all per year.

I called the school and the school said yes they are interested in Nigeria Students and as a matter of fact they have people they have consulted for admissions at Kings University.

The School said they are waiving TOEFL for students with A's and B's in English at WAEC and NECO

I went to their website and i found out that their tuition per year is 9331 per year.

i think lots of Nigeria Students will rush this school, especially with the easy of getting Canadian Students VISA, unlike U.S and U.K
