blackbee: I said more to come later. Here is the transcript of how it went. I lodged some where around Obalende, I woke up the next morning and had a cab pick me up at around 5 am, the night before, I was shaking in fear but I just thought I should sleep on the fear.. I woke up differently at about 5 am and headed to the Embassy. Omo the kind of rigorous checks that was happening at the Embassy was like hell. After all the checks I went into the hall waiting on the queue to do my biometrics, after a while, I was called by the Chinese guy to do my biometrics. He did the biometrics for a while and the packed some of the passports he and just processed and started interviewing... He called the numbers serially (at that time, my mind skipped because I was focusing on him, he called and interviewed from numbers 100 to 112 and my number was 114, made up my mind that I was going to face him anyways because it was most likely that he would be the one to interview me.) The next thing I saw was that number 113 was now called to be interviewed on another window inside my mind I was like that you Jesus, meaning that I was going to be the next. After that window interviewed the girl then my number flashed on the screen, I quickly rushed down and here's how it went.
Me: Good morning Sir, VO: No answer Vo: what are you going to do? Me: To study VO: What are you going to study? Me: Bla Bla bla VO: Where exactly? Me: bla bla state VO: What schools did you apply to Me; named the schools from different states. VO: Why did you choose this specific school? Me: It was recommended to me by someone who is known in the educational sector here in Nigeria. VO: Oh you mean like an educational consultant? Me: Yes. VO: Do you have the contact of the consultant? Me: NO VO: (brings out blue denial paper and gives it to me, at that time I wasn't shaky) Please write down the name of the educational consultant and the name of the of the consulting firm. Me: Wrote down what he wanted. VO: You finished your secondary school in 2005, why? Me: I was born in a non English speaking country and by the time I came back I had to adjust to the new language, it took me some time to do that. VO: when did you come back to Nigeria. Me: 1989 VO: Hand me the file you have, all the documents. Me: Hands them over VO: He flips through all my documents. VO: did you write any tests? Me: I have a waiver from my school but I still registered for TOEFL. (he kept flipping through my documents. I never registered or wrote TOEFL oo) VO: Who's paying for your trip? Me: My father. VO: What does he do? Me: He's a civil engineer and he also does contracts for the Rivers State government. Vo: What does you Mother do? Me: She's a Medical doctor. VO: (brings out my WAEC and looks at it closely though I attached my scratch card to my certificate) Me: Takes off my glasses so he sees me well without my glasses. VO: I see you're coming from far, you can either tell someone to pick up your visa for you at the address I have circled on this paper or you can come pick it up yourself. Me: (inside my mind) Thank you Jesus. Me: Thank you Sir.
Ricky Rozay thank you again... But make una Thank baba God, na him do pass. Congrats for others going for their visa interview, it is better you tell the VO that you learnt about the school you wish to attend through an extensive internet research |

jcaribie: Hey Guys...: want to thank everyone in the house for the pieces of advice and information. My relative got his visa today. Please note that he was denied twice in September, as he went with an i20 belonging to a community college, after which he got admission into Valparaiso Uni, into a four year programme. V.O: Goodmorning Guy: Goodmorning ma. V.O: 1. What course are you going to study? Guy: medicine, and biomed is foundation to studying medicine V.O: 2. What degree are you going for? Guy: Ans: am going for an undergraduate degree V.O: 3. You have applied twice and now you are applying to a different school, why? Guy: I was adviced to apply into a 4 year programme in a proper university because community colleges aren't really considered to be serious schools. V.O: 4. Why the us? Guy: cos it's scientifically advanced in terms of medical research. V.O: why Valparaiso? Guy: bla bla bla V.O: did you take any SATs? Guy: Yes ma'am. Hand SATs and TOEFL test scores. V.O: who is sponsoring? And what does the person do? Guy: bla bla bla V.O: Ok, your visa would be ready...bla bla bla. LoL! Meen... Prayer and patience is the key guys. Thanks to everyone for the answers and support. congrats |

simplejayy,
Apart from the fact that Community Colleges are RED FLAG at the embassy, you need to do more research on why you chose to study in a particular school. The answer you gave the VO did not portray you as a serious student. So my dear brother, you have to apply to a 4year university, do some research about the school (find out some unique facts about the school) then you are good to good.
All the best! |

Ricky Rozay: Even before the person starts applying for Emergency appointment, He/she should MAKE sure his/her sevis fee has been PAID and reflected on the sevis website.
Because the US Embassy will give you a date @ random and you might Not be prepared by then.
So it's good to get everything READY and set before you start scheduling an emergency appointment. |

Amefrica: There are rooms for you to correct ur mistakes, that's why you'd have to fill anoda form for anoda interview. Tho' there are some implicating corrections like you fiil married b4 you fill anoda one with single, you should know that's a red flag..
Put your job/work experience and you may want to say you didn't earn wages/salaries.
Goodluck! Thanks bro...... u get mouth! |

Hello everyone, happy sunday to you all.
I am in a big mess, I was denied visa some months bk, I am preparing for another interview now and I decided to read tru form DS-160 I filled for my previous interview, along the line I discovered some mistakes I made (not including my work experience and monthly income). I want to know how advisible is it to include them this time?
Will the VO compare my previous DS-160 and the new? |

Ricky Rozay: #GBAM!!! You just hit it right on the head. Perfect!!! That is a very perfect idea.
Also, if I were you, If asked about your income, I will let the VO know that I'm NOT earning while working as your services were voluntary, because you were there to gain the conceptual skills needed to develop Expertise in your chosen field pending when you gain admission into the University to pursue your Bsc degree, as getting a Bsc degree will make you highly prized in the company when you return to take up a suitable position in the company. ok |

sevule: Hi Guys I am quite new in the travel section of nairaland and I must say tha I am thoroughly impressed. You guys are like one big family and everybody is genuinely concerned about evreybody else. That said I need the advice of the gurus in the house and I hope that you would be able to spare some time to help a brother out. Here goes:
I have scheduled a visa appointment but I am a little confused cos of my situation.
1. I have an online masters degree from a school in America but I haven't been to America before. I am wondering if i should tell the VOs about this but from the advice you guys were giving on the forum it appears that this may actually work against me. My fear is that if I do tell the VO he would want to know why I want to pursue another degree and would ask why I dont want to do it online again. Should I reveal the info about my masters degree?
2. I have a full scholarship that covers tuition and expenses(this is why i want to travel for my second masters).I did TOEFL and GRE back then but the TOEFL is expired. Is it okay if I present the GRE alone when the VO requests for standardized test? Would the lack of TOEFL count against me?
I finished school 2007 and I have been working since then. Any other advice would be most welcome. I await to hear from all the gurus in the house if they can spare the time.
Thanks a mill!! I think you should not tell the VO abt ur online masters, but if u filled it in your DS-160 you do not have a choice unless you fill out a new DS-160 |

imperiouxx: @ Cold, lols. Check my last year posts during last winter. I don't use any accessories other than my jacket. Some friends here don't pay me visit in winter because may place is usually cold and sometimes, I don't sleep with the heater on. Most of this long wall-side heaters are not really good for health and they proliferate fever cells in you.
@Lisa...., I always wonder what the meaning of the id is and what always crosses my mind is that. you have not replied my PM |

sevule: Hello Tochim This is actually my first post post in this section. Forget TNT as they stopped their pickup service 2 weeks ago and they are still yet to resume. It was a real downer for me cos TNT is the cheapest and they charge about 12k for their pickup service. So I had to use UPS to pickup my I20 and it cost approximately 17k. I could give you their details if you are interested. I will check on fedex. Thank you so much for your concern God bless you. |

Gombs: Doctors n nurses do that, it is nothing special....y would you think pastors wont do that? You all are fools for saying that doctors/nurses touch their sick patients with bare hands. You all have shown how uninformed you are. You are blinded by ignorance. FYI, the catholic church shouldn't be compared with all these new generation profit seeking churches because catholic church is nobody's personal business. The pope we are talking about does not have a wife nor children, if he dies a new person will become the pope. The pope is doing a selfless service. He isn't the founder of catholic church just like most pastors who open churches just to enrich themselves. As for healing the man, only God heals. We are not myopic about pastors fixing miracles and using charms to do miracle just to attract CUSTOMERS! |
