Ricky Rozay: Why can't u take it one step at a Time..

First Step - Apply for admissions.

Then mail your admission application and essays to the school..

AFTER doing the above mentioned, then inform your US school by email that your high school will be sending your transcript and recommendations to them soon so they will be expecting it.

Also, make sure you correctly write your FULL Name in the email you sent them for easy identification and for them to locate your file and make remarks on pending documents which will be received soon @ their Office.

Do it that way, it is much better and organised in that manner. Because by doing so, they will start creating a file for you there and as soon as they receive your transcript and recommendation letters, they will add it up to your file which will make it much easier for em to locate and run your admission processing as fast and as efficient as possible without making things more complicated..

Regarding mailing of documents to schools in the US, the best method and most RELIABLE means of them all is by using FEDEX, UPS, DHL,TNT, EMS or any other Private courier to mail your admission package to the school which will get there within 4 working days..

But the only issue is the amount they charge for this service. Depending on the weight of the package, the least they charge ranges from 12k and above to send documents to the US.

DHL is the Most Expensive for Both Sending and Receiving.

But the cheapest of them all is EMS, they charge as low as 7k to send packages to the US depending on the weight of the package.

But another option you can use is NIPOST Registered mail, if you don't have much money on you. They are also Reliable for sending packages to the US but they are NOT Reliable for Receiving packages from the US to Nigeria.

I used Nipost Registered Mail to send my admission package to 3 schools in the US and I paid Just ONLY #700 for each package I sent, and all packages were received by my US schools in just 8 working days.

Some peeps here also used Nipost to send packages to the US and they don't encounter any troubles. Just Make sure you correctly write your US school's Full address..

Cheers.
,
Pls what is the difference between Nipost Registered Mail and the regular Nipost Mail delivery? How can I use the Nipost Registered Mail? I want to send my account statement to Utah State Uni

imperiouxx: I didn't misunderstand your question, you're the one that stated your question wrongly. However, sorry for the whole misconception. Yes, you can do on campus job starting from your first semester if you are smart to get one.
No wahala!

lisadem: Correct but guess off campus during CPT or OPT
The school I am processing said in severe hardship that the student may be permitted to work off campus. The ISO will assist the student in filing for that.

imperiouxx: Yes it's very possible if you like to be sent back home immediately you are caught.
You seem to misunderstand me, I mean on-campus job. I know it is not illegal to work 20hrs per week on-campus

[quote author=FIZIK]Just one month in the US and I had to use password help to log into my dear Nairaland.

Education is fast-paced and demanding, with loads of homework that makes me wonder if I am not gonna break down.
I understand why people rarely post when classes starts (not because they don't want to).
I am wondering how Imperiouxx et al does it.

My suggestion based on experience:
GTBank mastercard is accepted in most payment platforms.
Rather than having people do FX transfers from Nigeria with attendant transaction costs(fixed and %'s), You can have them pay into your Current/Savings account while you use the money here.
Note that for each ATM withdrawal, GT charges #1,000. so what I do is to take out a money order on my GT ATM at Walmart (60cents) or Wells fargo bank ($3 for 3 leaves) and deposit into my domestic checking account here where I don't incur ATM withdrawal charges.
You can take a maximum $5,000 out of your card in a day but you will be required to provide your passport if it exceeds $3,000 for the day.

Be outspoken, ask for clarifications when you do not understand.
Don't think your accent sucks because there are lots of Indians and Chinese who can barely speak the way you do. ( I have been told many times my English(British accent) is great and sometimes I like the idea of an American asking me ''What did you say?"wink
90% of my class composition are Chinese, 5% Indians and few Americans.
At first I wondered how they follow in class but you will be damned to write them off because they are really smart.
Do not isolate yourself, nobody sees you in that way.

I use a calling card (African King) when i call Nigeria.
45 minutes for $5.
Some of my friends use Keepcalling.com.
Its also cheap and convenient because you can pay online.
Skype(I mean purchasing skype credit and calling the Nigerian GSM) is most convenient if enabled on your mobile and not just on your computer.
For domestic calls, visit a cell phone carrier and get a plan tailored to your individual need.
Limit your international calls, you are here to study.
Be sure of what you subscribe to, bills add up real fast.

Be careful what you sign at the leasing office.
It may put you in bad rating if you don't follow through.
Judging by where we come from, you dont need a sea view or pool.
All apartments have relatively the basic amenities you need.
Off campus apartments are usually cheaper if its on the free bus route or you have a car/bike.

COOK, COOK and COOK.
Not only will stop overs at Mcdonald's and Subway for pizza and sandwitch drain your pocket, you'd be imagining how fast you got obese each time you look in the mirror(there's always a big one in the bathroom).
My groceries come from HEB and Walmart.
Basically Rice,egg, chicken, milk, bread.
Who has an idea of alternatives to Beans and garri which I order from Houston at a cost?
Convenience stores are not as good.
Come with condiments if you can.

Come prepared.
It takes money to settle in here no matter how you try to cut cost.
There are many side attractions, only you know your priority.
Maintain a positive outlook and Lastly NETWORK,
That's what you'd have left after graduation.

God bless Nairaland

Is it possible to do a part time job inspite of all these?

There is no particular dress code, the most important thing is for you to appear neat and decent. As u said that knotting ur tie makes you comfortable, I will suggest u knot ur tie.

Ricky Rozay: 25 year old is almost of the same range with those going for masters as well. But a 25 year old person can still stand a high chance of getting his/her visa if the person can prove to the VO by showing Strong Genuiness and willingness to study.

I am not talking of those students going for undergraduate studies between the ages of 26 to 29 and Won't bother taking any standarlized test and they will still expect Magic to happen at the Embassy. A BIG NO NO... RED FLAG!

So, Like for example, taking standarlized test like SAT or ACT and NOT just taking them for the sake of doing so but must try to perform brillantly well in them. The sky will be your limit if the person can do this.

The following age range is the perfect age for students wishing to study in the US;

UNDERGRÀDUATE:
AGE; 16 - 23

MASTERS:
AGE; 24 - 30.

Note: If any of your ages doesn't fall in between the above illustration and you intend going for any of the following listed above.

There is No cause for alarm. Just sit yourself down and work on how to build a strong profile. Which will sound good and acceptable to the VO which I have illustrated on my previous post. Then you should be good to go.

Cheers..
I already have a job since 2006, and the course I am opting for is related to my job.....I guess its not bad if I use this job period to cover it. (I have written Toefl)
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by Tochium: 3:50pm On Sep 20, 2013
Ricky Rozay: See One thing you need to know is that, MOST VOs won't spell it out to your face the reason for your Denial. They can't even tell you it is because of your age. They will expect you to keep applying and wasting more money on Visa fees while they make more money on it.

But only the smart ones will code the reason for their denial through the VOs expression & Reaction to questions been answered.

Some peeps who were between the ages of 26 to 28 going for undergrad studies @ the US embassy last month. They narrated their experience to me. They said the VO just asked them three questions. Which were;

What is your name?.
What course are you going for?
How old are You?

After that, the next statement he heard from the VO was; Sorry, You do not qualify for a visa at this time, But you can re-apply..............

So you see it my bro. But everyone's case is different sha. But I still use it as a medium to learn New things and cover the loop holes so I don't repeat the same mistake they made twice and still get the same wrong result.

Although, Luck might shine on you. But I know veryy much well that your Age will raise a RED Flag @ the US Embassy, and you will see the way the VO will tackle you because they will be expecting you to go for Masters or P.H.D

So that's why I illustrated in my previous post, the things that needs to be done, that will enable you sound convincing enough to the VOs and give him/her a very good impression that you are a GENUINE student and promising one who is willing to study at any level and NOT an intending Immigrant who just wants to take advantage of the system to leave and work Permanently in the US.

Cheers bro.
What about a 25 year old going for Undergrad?

kelvin50: Tankz ricky rozay nd d-tus @ ricky guys dat were denied were they told d reason for their denial waz their age or u js guessd so
I am 25, I was denied 2months ago. The VO said my application does not qualify me for a visa....... I guess its cos my school was a community college. U have to trust God and have faith, with God all things are possible.

9raCash: Got to the Embassy around 6am in my broda's car, did all the security check and went in for the verification of docs. I went with the scanned printed receipt of the money order my friend used in paying for d sevis. The man checked all d docs and tried to verify my sevis payment on his system but told me he my payment has not been uploaded online that I suld take a seat that he will call me soon. After some time he called and gave me a document that I should come back any monday or wed by 1pm as soon as I verify my payment online.... Still trusting God for the best. Ricky Rozay: The school is a veryy good school. It is among the TOP universities in the US. But the only issue here is that they have a very Low acceptance rate. Their admission is competitive. So your friend must really worth is onions before applying to that school..

While applying to that school, Let him also consider averagely ranked schools with High acceptance rate, just for him to be on a safer side.

Cheers bro..
Thank you

it's obvious you have been too cool with her.

Irrespective of what some silly girls have posted,

here is what I have to say:

1. Start planning your exist strategy now.

2. Stop begging or petting her

3. Reduce the attention you give her.

4. Start flirting with other girls and make her see you do it so that she wiil get the sense that she can be discarded, replaced and displaced at any fvcking giving time.

5. Stop spending money on her. Yes, she is not worth it!

6. Stylishly get ready and set the platform to launch a sporadic fvck on her. Yes, fvck her brains out. Give it to her real good and make her gasp for breath.

7. Don't repair the phone but make it a promise that you will do so. Make her long for it and learn to make promises that you wont fulfill while you use it to fvck her.

8. NEVER borrow money to please any girl. No matter how much you love her. Be man enough to tell her you don't have, there is no shame in that.

9. When you have fvcked her to your satisfaction, then get set to dump the fool.

10. She is likely dating someone else and that is one of the traits they exhibit. They become arrogant, aggressive and easily get pissed with you.

I desperately need your advice.

Hello Everyone,

I was denied visa 2months ago and I am planning to reapply by November, I have a question to ask;

While filling my visa application 2months ago I didn't mention that I have been working since 2005 I finished my secondary
school, now that I want to reapply, I wish to include it especially as it relates to the course I intend to study. I want to ask if this will be an issue at the embassy since I didn't not include it previously? would it increase the tendency of being
denied again?
