TravelRe: Ask Me Any Questions About America, straight Talk from a Nigerian in America by Tochium: 8:53pm On Oct 07, 2013
I am preparing for my visa interview for spring semester at Utah State University though I will transfer to San Jacinto College Pasadena, TX when I arrive US.

My questions are;

1. What is the chances of getting employed in the aviation industry after graduation from College with an associate degree in Aviation Management? What is the pay like?

2. How is Pasadena, TX? What is the transportation network like? Is the city developed?

skoloppy31: what steps do you think I can take prior to the completion of ma degree and what if I dont have an account bearing my surname, is there a way out?
There is no step you can take for now except you want to start preparing for your standardize test (eg GRE) . You have to graduate and have your transcript ready then u can now start thinking of applying to schs

ovusbaby: Pls I need a tangible well connstructed reason to give the next Vo for my denial cos they will always ask
What they normally ask is "what has changed since ur last application?" You have to prep well cos u have a big gap to cover (2007-2013). I am facing the same issue, mine is 2005-2013. I will use my work to cover it cos the job I do is related to my course.
"Tribalism is a million times worse" Where are your sources? Citations? References? Or are you just assuming in your "thick skull" that it should be so SINCE you THINK SO? I gave you facts, please support your BROAD claims with FACTS

Colossal lawsuits, you mean like the Trayvon Martin law suit that ended up with...Zimmerman acquitted? Oh yes, of course the justice system in the US is VERY VERY fair.once you get racially profiled you will get GAZILLIONS of dollars in compensation - OH YES! Lie to them.

Boko haram is slaughtering for religion, and you don't have psychos who do so in America in the name of the Lord? The CT shooting? Oh, of course you are FALSELY encouraging immigrants, so why mention that to them. Afterall, AMERICA IS PERFECT!

85% of people live in worse places? LMAO WOW the way you COME UP with your MAGIC numbers. Citation? References? I am waiting for TANGIBLE thoroughly researched EVIDENCE

You and the guy who claims magnet research is science, I don't know who is worse. I guess it's a nigerian thing huh, not having concrete facts
Ozone Emeka pls kindly let us be. We r tired of ur lies. If I may ask u what r u still doing in america? Now let me tell u, I have visited America as a tourist, u cannot deceive me. Who does not kw abt tribalism in Nigeria? A frnd of mine was denied employment cos he isn't a muslim.... I saw the pics u share in ur thread, I can tell u that those places r no ghettos when compared to some places in Nigeria. Pls enough of ur argument and let us enjoy this thread.

Ricky Rozay: To some Peeps taking ONLY TOEFL is Enough..

But MY Policy is SAT for Undergraduate Or GRE or GMAT for Students going in for Masters...

Although Some students who tender just Only TOEFL as Standarlized test @ the embassy also scale through....

But You Never can tell the VO you will meet that day.. I have seen so many cases whereby some VOs SHUN AND IGNORE students who Just took the TOEFL only..

They want to also see students taking SAT for Undergraduate and GRE or GMAT for Masters students..

If you have the Money I will STRONGLY recommend you take the Two test! Both SAT and TOEFL if you going for Undergraduate Studies and GRE/GMAT and TOEFL if you going for Masters...

But If you don't have Much Finance, Take ONLY SAT for Undergraduate and For Masters take ONLY GRE/GMAT.

That will be much ACCEPTABLE @ the Embassy...

I don't know why you guys keep avoid taking SAT, GRE, GMAT and will prefer taking Just ONLY TOEFL..

Even this TOEFL of a Test is more expensive and twice the amount for the SAT test...
How long does it take for SAT to come out after the exam?
TravelRe: You want to COME TO AMERICA - Do You REALLY Know America? by Tochium: 8:29am On Oct 06, 2013
jimtosam: Nice thread...

What I keep telling people is that a lizard in Nigeria cannot come to America and turn to lion. I have seen lot of Nigerians established here in USA and they are doing legal business. the same USA, a Nigerian just sold a website to Apple for about $1b....Where you are does not matters, who you are really matters...I personally believe I can make it anywhere in the world. whether Kafanchan, Benin Republic, Ghana, Togo, Vietnam..

Change yourself before you start changing location. But, to be really candid USA is a good platform to launch one's idea.
You can never compare Naija and America. Have you ever imagined what 68% unemployment rate means? Have u ever imagined working so hard and at the end of the month you get owed even up to 3months by the so called govt in Nigeria? I imagine if American Universities have experienced a 3month strike action in the past 10years. Racism is everywhere, a friend of mine was denied employment with Nigerian Army simply because he is not a muslim. I don't wanna go further, all I am trying to say is that a lizard in Naija can become even bigger than a lion in America take it or u leave it.

No do not snap at the embassy, its always more expensive there( more than ×2 the normal price)

obotubong: yea actually i am going for an associate degree in a community college, i may be the 1st you see granted visa for a community college if GOD permits. so my fingers are crossed.
Faith does it...... The visa is urs (ur faith has seen u tru)
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by Tochium: 4:43pm On Oct 03, 2013
obotubong: most community colleges too offer SAT free admission cos it is an open admission system schools. i am going for my visa appointment on 23rd. i know with GOD all things are possible and i would come here to share my testimony on 23rd. AMEN
the chances of securing visa wif a community college r slim. He should go for a 4year Uni. I forgot to include Louisiana State Uni in the previous list. All the best in ur visa interview.

Utah State Uni, Uni of New Orlean
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by Tochium: 1:39pm On Oct 03, 2013
Ricky Rozay: Sure you can scale through.. You have good grades which is above average. But you still need one more thing to complete your File and get Ready to Shoot for the US Embassy.. Which is the SAT score report..

I see you going for undergraduate studies.. Hope you have taken the SAT test.. Becos your good grades will be a waste @ the embassy without Standarlized test scores..

The VO will definaletly ask for your SAT since you going for undergraduate studies..

Cheers bro.
Don't u think TOEFL is enough standardize test?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by Tochium: 11:36am On Oct 03, 2013
@Amefrica, Don't give up, still try again. It would have been better if u had ur father as ur sponsor. Again, u have to show strong tie to Nigeria which will convince the VO that u would return after ur studies.

Chars1289: the shutdown is abt the us budget.the senate n reps cldnt reach unanimous decision.doubt if it hs to do wit d consulate shutting down.
No I do not think it will affect embassies and consulates; read below

The state department would continue processing foreign
applications for visas, and embassies and consulates overseas
would continue to provide services to American citizens.

Ricky Rozay: Sure, there are some things you need to do before your i-20 arrives, If ONLY you have your Sevis Number with you.

You will need your Sevis Number to Fill your DS 160 form and to enable you book appointment. You will also need the sevis number to pay for your Sevis fee.

If you DON'T have a copy with you, Email your School and ask them to send you a scanned copy of your i-20, so you can use it to book appointment.

OR if they refuse to send you a scanned copy of your i-20, you can also tell em to email your Sevis Number to you.

Things you Need to Do before your i-20 arrives;

1. Pay your Visa fee @ GTBank for #26,400

2. Fill your DS 160 form as accurately as possible and Fill in your Sevis Number correctly where Required.

3. Go to the appointment window and Book appointment with the Application ID generated from the DS 160 form.

4. Pay your Sevis fee of $200.

The Above mentioned are the things you need to do while waiting for your i-20, by doing this things, you have automatically speed up the whole process.

Cheers.
He also needs his school code

bigfrancis21: I've seen people get their visas for undergraduate study with their ages like yours(26 and above). And I've also seen such people get denied severally. However, its risky. The odds of getting the visa as an undergraduate going for studies at 26 years are more of denials than approvals.

I'd advice that you apply for masters instead. A few US universities don't discriminate between HND and B.Sc and these few universities accept HND results from Nigerians.
He said OND not HND

They accept scanned copies of transcript but will not release I-20 untill they receive original
