komekn: I am perplexed beyond reason with the preoccupation with "gun trucks" in our discourse.
A gun truck is in most cases a rickety pick up trucks mounted with a heavy machine gun , without stabilisation and or optic sights.
It is not a IFV, MBT, LAV, MRAP, and or APC.
A single shot from a M107 50.Cal. (or similar) into the engine block of one those soft skinned pick ups. Will make it completely immobile and easy target.
This is where I get completely BAMBOOZLED how can a military base with HARDENED combatants with MBT's and other armoured fighting vehicles. Be overtaken by group of rag tag untrained deranged Jihadists in 15, 20 and or more gun trucks.
One Vickers MBT should very easily take out 15 gun trucks in a matter of 15/20 minutes, with a well trained tank crew. bro first of all The base wasn't over run. Secondly It's unclear whether there was any MBT there According to SamuelAnyawu they're not even up to a brigade... Why are you bringing to play what didn't happen? |

kabe1: I doubt you know what a Main Battle Tank is.
Cameroun has none.
So how are you sighting Cameroun army MBT that does not exist?
Clear this confusion for me. maybe he's mistaking it with Tracked armoured vehicles or 8x8 IFVs |

komekn: But using your sentiment we don't need them we are currently blasting Boko Haram leftist and center. They are on the retreat. We are slaughtering them, etc, etc
Our battle HARDENED combatants are winning.
Why them do we need the assistance of Cameroon ❓ ❓ After all we have overcome Boko and they can't do much.
I am using the substance of your narrative. I'm not understanding you. My Narrative!? We need Assistance from Our Neighbors (MNJTF) especially if we're going to take control of Lake chad Area... Secondly Terrorists are likely to Run to Border villages so we'll need a Blocking Force. Yes we're BLASTING terrorists Left Right and center Evidently... And our HARDENED Troops are dealing with them. In other for these to be sustained countries affected by this insurgency will have to contribute one way or the other. Cameroonian has Been helpful in terms of ISR, Chadians in Troops deployment, |

Whyem15: In order to realize the magnitude of the counter insurgency operation in terms of area, I decided to compare the land mass of some local governments in Borno state with that of some state. Figures in km² Lagos state - 3,577
Marte LGA - 3,280 Mobbar LGA - 3,280 Biu - 3,423 Abadam- 4,172 Magumeri - 5,057 Kukawa - 5,124 Bama - 5,158 Konduga - 6,065 Damboa - 6,426
There are several other local governments in Borno state with landmass greater than 2000km² Imagine the immense size of the campaign map!
Note: All figures were gotten from Wikipedia, if you have a trusted data, you can bring it here and we can compare. +sambisa-Approx 60,000 |

BabaOwen: After my own research, it seems ISWAP gave the Nigerian army a bloody nose in Marte, the soldiers had to retreat to dikwa and call for air support.
After little research, I found out there is an army battalion and an army brigade in Marte. We are talking of nothing less than 2000 soldiers
Thousands of soldiers were overpowered by hundreds of terrorists and some people dey talk about one useless ambush for here... Nah wah o.
All thanks to the Air force sha, if not for them, the terrorists would have over run the whole of Marte by now. Very bad research you did bro... |

OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE: AIR TASK FORCE DESTROYS TERRORISTS’ TRAINING CAMP, OBLITERATES AMMUNITION STORAGE FACILITY AT NUWAR IN BORNO STATE
1. The Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorists’ (BHTs’) Training Camp, along with a suspected ammunition depot, and neutralized several terrorists at Nuwar in the Bama area of Borno State. This was achieved through air strikes executed on 14 January 2021 sequel to intelligence reports indicating that the cluster of huts and other structures in the settlement were being used to conduct combat training for the terrorists on a regular basis.
2. Consequently, the Air Task Force, after conducting series of confirmatory aerial surveillance missions, dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter gunships for a night air raid on the location. The helicopters scored devastating hits in the target area which led to the neutralization of several BHTs as well as the destruction of some of their structures, including the terrorists’ armoury, where multiple mini explosions were observed amidst the raging fire. Several other terrorists were taken out in follow-on attacks by the helicopter gunships.
3. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, will sustain the offensive against the enemies of our Great Nation. We shall not relent until peace and normalcy are restored not only in the North East but also in every other troubled region of our beloved Country.
