No. They rode in that noisy and smoky contraption they just newly welded together and expect the bandits will drum them a festive welcome.

Very simple and short reply.

Go and ask Turkey about all this long baseless rhetoric. And then ask Assad and Haftar how the feel.

Finally, the A10 is being retired and no NATO country has bothered procuring it. I wonder why ❓ ❓
A10 is not for sale just as the Raptor but the Raptor has its own case of not been for sale.. grin but that's not the point here.
Situation in Libya and Nigeria are different.
Hence doesn't compare simple

I would add to what you have said using Turkey as a case study.

Turkey has proven beyond all doubt and raised the game. With its comprehensive wiping of the Syrian army in a matter of days. Primarily anchored on its UAV'S.

The Assad regime suffered heavy losses as a result of the drone campaign: 3,000 soldiers, 151 tanks, eight helicopters, three drones, three fighter jets (including two Russian-made Sukhoi Su-24s), around 100 armored military vehicles and trucks, eight aerial defense systems, 86 cannons and howitzers, ammunition trucks and dumps, and one headquarters, among other military equipment and facilities.
https://www.mei.edu/publications/fight-syrias-skies-turkey-challenges-russia-new-drone-doctrine

In addition these same drones have removed Haftar from his position of dominance to one of humiliation and retreat in Libya.

What I am saying is that UAV technology is changing VERY RAPIDLY the entire battlefield management and strategy.

UAV are the current FUTURE, with zero risk to pilots. Turkey has added another dimension electro magnetic warfare, as a consequence rendering the previously dreaded Russian pantsir air defence system effectively impotent.

The latest UAV by Turkey is the Akinci (Raider) which remains the most noteworthy asset of the next generation Turkish unmanned airpower. Produced by Baykar, the Akinci has a payload of 1,350kg of multiple precision weaponry.

Boko for now do not have anything to shoot down anything at high and even medium altitude so UAV technology will dominate unopposed. Which means Boko will struggle to operate and be very limited in what the can do.
The situation in Libya and Nigeria are not the same bro...
This is where you're getting ur point wrong

Look at how many UAV the USAF have and how often they are deployed.

Then how many light turboprop aircraft they have, don't think they are up 30. That in USAF means negligible and of very little significance and or value.

So the person you are buying the product from doesn't use it or value it. What does that make you who is buying it.
they deploy the drones for high value targets...
The Turboprop aircrafts are experimental cos the need something for COIN
Once they find what suits their need of course it will come in Large Numbers..
It has little value yet they are looking for the right one for COIN operations. undecided

Be very careful.

You are making a statement that is simply not true. The entire programme with regards to light turboprop aircraft is classed as experimental.

Go and do you the research.

Finally, ask yourself, you can do the open source research. How many of these aircraft are in the entire USA inventory in the first place compared to all the other platforms. Take note there are several different platforms not just the Tucano in consideration. Which was retrofitted by the USAF to make it what it is today.

Then how many times compared to the other air platforms have they been deployed across the multiple locations of conflict the USA is engaged in across the globe.
it's the same thing I'm saying why didn't they go for More Reaper Drones instead of Turbo prop light attack aircrafts undecided

1. The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and immobilized one of their gun trucks at Bula Korege, a terrorists’ logistics distribution centre and meeting point, on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. This feat was achieved via air strikes executed on 17 June 2020 as part of missions being conducted under the subsidiary Operation LONG REACH after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft spotted a large number of BHT fighters and a gun truck within the settlement. Consequently, the Air Task Force scrambled its fighter jets to attack the location.

2. Upon arrival overhead the settlement, the NAF jets engaged the target area, taking out some structures and neutralizing some of the terrorists. The gun truck, while retreating from the location due to the strong firepower from the air, began engaging the attack aircraft with its anti-aircraft gun. However, the jets, after conducting evasive maneuvers, tracked the vehicle and subsequently immobilized it a few kilometres outside the village. The occupants of the truck, who attempted to flee, were mopped-up in follow-on attacks by the fighter jets.

3. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commends the ATF for their dedication and professionalism. The Defence Headquarters equally urge them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all other criminal elements in the country.

Look, drones are even more suitable for COIN warfare than the coventional.
With ucavs we could track and take out those bhts in larger numbers.ucavs got a higher service ceiling compared to our gunships and the ucav(s) are 'stealth' compared to our fixed wing aircraft.if u talkin' 'bout drones being too expensive,
You gotta understand that presently nigeria airforce is kinda spending much to get little result.e.g.we spend over 5 million bi monthly on fuelling our aircrafts.if we got ucav(s) we don't require to spend much to power them.we could arm the drones with rockets instead of using 'expensive' missiles to take out bht technicals and bases.if u sayin' drones carry limited weaponry;you gotta note that a wing loong uav can take between 10-20 rockets.thats more than our alpha jets and l 39s.so,with a ucav i could have an increased combat range and have the ability to carry out ISR on that ssme platform, instead of spending on different platforms with little results
arm a drone with rockets and you'll have to fly at a closer range to hit target accurately. You stated with a UCAV you get to Carry out Combat and ISR at the Same,What comes to mind is the Super Tucano Built for COIN operations and has more payload that UCAV..

Yes, let's buy some $ million drones with tethering and reliability issues because we have' crude oil money'.

Nigeria is better off with MALE drones for reconnaissance and intelligence, a few more helicopters and fixed wing assets than payload restricted UCAV. Besides this is an insurgency not a conventional army like used in Syria or Libya. Great to take out one or two targets, then what happens next?

Strafing runs, multiple hits and so are required dealing with BH convoys. Not your one hit wonders.

Holistic mindset not throwing money at a target is what's required here.
They even complained when the army bought Guided anti tank missiles from China saying it's useless against Ragtag BHT Hilux..
And they still suggest for a more expensive Air to surface missile firing drone against the same Ragtag BHT

The use even for the two weeks will save the troops a lot of stress. Even if they are not stacked one on top another, the minimum elevation and protection will go a long way. These bags also don't discourage the use by mobile units as they can be quickly filled and emptied and can be carried around with less stress. Another fact I love about them is that when filled, they offer better projectile resistance and protection than your regular brick wall, all you need is BAG, SAND(and/or ROCKS) and people/equipment to fill them.
In fact trenches can still be dug and the sand evacuated from the trenches used to fill the bags.

Why at this stage in our development and awareness are we digging WW2 trenches in a Sahel savanna.

Things have moved on nobody is digging trenches. You need elevation to defend and to see your enemy, more so in the predominantly flat lands of the Sahel Savanna. The cost is very very minimal.

The HESCO bags have become the standard for for all military bases in this modern day and age.
They are constructed with collapsible wire mesh frame with a thick synthetic canvas type strong fabric covering.

It's like lego you can stack them up 3 levels that gives you up to 30 feet of elevation. That means you can with magnification remote cameras or just plain binoculars including thermal vision have up to 5km possibly more of spatial awareness and vision.

These HESCO bags can be VERY EASILY be locally produced 100% local content in Nigeria for peanuts. Just with simple revers engineering.

That will make a huge difference to our forward bases and defensive positions and stop them from being over run. Giving you protection from Rpg7's and even heavy mortar fire.

Examples below.
As u can see from the pics these are like permanent FOBs so the need for the HESCOSs unlike ours it's not troops don't stay there for up to two weeks they are always moving...

French forces are in Sub Saharan Africa under Operation Barkhan which in itself emanated from operation Serval.

What's the mission focus of the French operation and the support of the EU nations which is predominantly logistical is to complement that mission.

French forces complement partner countries of the G5 Sahel if avaliable and if considered necessary. They do not underpin thier operations.

Since Operation Serval in 2013 that essentially wiped out the Islamic Jihadists in the Maghreb in a couple of weeks. How many French combatants have been killedhuhhuh

To date 46 French soldiers have been killed since January 2013 over a period of 7 years ➕.

Everything can not be air assets and air force required. French forces engage with the enemy on the ground but not relying on air power primarily.

I asked this question before, how many times has ISWAP and it's affiliates attempted to ambush or had any success against French soldiers. Have you heard of any French and or European combatants base been attacked over runhuh ❓ Why I wonder why? ❓

Mali combatants have enough equipment to engage the enemy but somehow they end up with heavy casualties. WHYhuh

France can not legislate for the incompetence of its partner countries poor battlefield management and or take responsibility for thier inability to deal with the enemy.

You are evading the subject at its core with irrelevant comparisons . We are talking about Monguno and that specific situation that took place there. Appraise that particular incident and stop evading the core subject please.

You sound like a PR officer for the Armed forces, trying to clean up a mess, but doing a poor job of it. You have not mentioned one substantive fact with regard to NAF response times you have been assumptive not factual.

A Vickers MBT tank and other lethal armoured assets were abandoned and subsequently destroyed by the enemy, they were not used to engage the enemy, WHY the core question ❓❓ ❓ There is no excuse we have reliable Intel that those assets were operational.

The NA have the equipment and should have capacity to deal with a hundred or so rag tag ISWAP fighters in not more than 15/20 gun trucks.

My expectations are that they should never have been able to get into the town in the first place. Anything that happened afterwards was damage limitation.

There is nothing COMMENDABLE about the reponse prior and or afterwards
.
You know problem with Nigerians they aren't always satisfied.
If The military hadn't done anything in Monguno They'll talk,Now they countered attack and Gave them a bloody nose they still find fault saying NAF didn't respond on time, Despite that fact NAF still eliminated their run-away gang if a 100% came for that attack 90% didn't go back alive...

Now you claim France has been fighting Insurgency for 7yrs with 46 casualties on how many fronts have they fought or Lemme say is the situation compared to what's in Nigeria, France operation and deployment in SSA is supposed to help but nah it ain't helping Dozens of Malian Soilders Where killed in An Ambush 2Weeks ago.

The admittance of FAILURE is the beginning of SUCCESS.

The denial of FAILURE when there has been systemic failure will result in continous failure and the enthronment of mediocrity .

There is an issue of low expectations here. The same way we see our politicians they do nothing, indeed they are comprehensively inept, but we claim they are TRYING.

These incidents have become continous over the past years. Combatants abandoning equipment, thier positions in the face of Boko attack.

Instead of doing a proper post mortem and getting at the root of the problem we paint over the matter and say we are trying. Sorry it's not good enough.

With regards to the bold that's utter Balderdash.

There is a contingency plan, the UK has never fought a war on its soil for over a 100 years. But thier is a contingency plan for one.

There are fighter pilots stationed at multiple RAF bases on "High Alert" standby 24/7/365. At a moments notice within 3/4 minutes they are airborne and going at supersonic speed to intercept targets. There are regular drills to keep them up to scratch, there is no complacency.

On this platform we have hailed the NAF as being highly competent. But with what unit of comparative measurement, l don't know.

I made two assumptions first that we have some air assets ( fighter jets) in Maiduguri, do wehuh ❓ The distance by road between Monguno and Maiduguri is about 85miles however "as the crow flies" and using nautical miles, it is a lot shorter.

With this in mind the NAF should be able to have target acquisition in Monguno within or less than 15 minutes. It is not difficult.

This has nothing to do with being an advanced country or not. It's about competence, organisational culture and effective management.

You claim we have very few operational aircraft. Then who decided to buy 12 aircraft that will take 6 years to complete the supply and three years before we get the first ones. I am sorry it is near deranged thinking.

Is the USA the only country that sells aircraft in the world.

The cost of two A29 will give us 50 Wing Loong II UAV today not in 6 years time. Do you know if you had those UAV Boko will be almost rendered impotent. That will give you complete situational awareness over the whole NE.

They UAV operates very silently not like a noisy turboprop, with a ceiling of over 30k feet. Once again l am talking about the HERE and very present NOW.

What I don't understand is how the NA in Monguno doesn't have any outposts to give them situational awareness. It's like they were asleep when Boko attacked.

But that not withstanding, Boko did not invade with 100 T72 tanks just in my estimation not more than 15/20 rickety gun trucks and combatants with light arms walking around like it's Sunday afternoon stroll.

The Vickers MBT is able on its own to completely halt the advance. It may be old but it's very capable, it's 105 mm gun is stabilised it can shoot on the move 100% accuracy any target under 2km. By the time just 4/5 of the gun trucks are decimated the rest will run away.

Finally, something many will not like to consider this but we should. Imagine there were Chadian soldiers in Monguno what do you think would have been thier responsehuh
And I'll still keep asking the question were was France Reaper "Drones" when ISWAP hit hard on chadian soilders for 7hrs. Even in Niger earlier dis year who responded to the ISWAP attack on their FOB? NAF..... when France has their Mirage and Reaper Drones with Max Loitering time.Quick question why then do u think the US AFSOC is choosing the Tucano why not Aquire More Drones for operations in Afghanistan other than buying Noisy Turbo prop Aircraft Flying 30k feet.
Factors that affect the delivery of the Tucano is unknown but it's what we need.
NAF responding to attacks depends on the time they receive alert.Do u think NAF knew immediately the attack began and spent 2hrs deploying huh Nahh
Seven of their guntruck were captured 4 from the footage of the Airstrike were destroyed so automatically they didn't go back the same way they came.
If it was the chadians I trust them they'll give them hell, they are battle hardened.
