Are these demands still valid? Got sellers to fulfil them today at good rates. Share details via DM Kapose: |
You can buy directly from Premier Seeds depots in Ibadan or Sango or Kaduna or any of their depots. They sell at N375 per kg. You can also request that the sales reps send to you after you pay them. Some seed dealers here too sell Oba 98 gbyg: |
Let's DM for rates. Got demand. Exxkay: |

Good thread. 60K to clear one acre of land is too much even if the land is virgin. Look for options or choose a tractorable land. @stagger. Nice breakdown. Few observations: 1. Please share details of the seed planter. Few of us asked on the other thread. 2. It will be great if you can share your yield per hectare for this regimen. 3. NPK 15.15.15 is now N7,000 per bag. Have you tried Diammonium Phosphate (DAP 46.0.0) especially mixed with urea for maize? You need to use 'tried and tested' vs this organic fertilizer. Shelled maize is better especially when one understands and leverage the timing for maize. Maize prices go up from January. Current price is over 150Kper ton. Fresh maize comes with risks especially glut and therefore very low price. For army worm, be close to the farm and immediately you notice any attack, use Army Force for mild attack or Ampligo by Syngenta for severe attack. |
It's free. Distributed by USAID or FAO or WB. The claim alone is interesting. And then no price? stagger: |
Is there anything you cannot discuss here in public about buying fresh maize ?nisimi09: |
No nisimi09: |
What quantity of maize do you need and when? We have more than 100 acres of maize in Abeokuta. Ready for sale |
OK. Location please so I can calculate transportation cost? Is the 160K asking or final? nurey: |
What's your price per ton for maize? nurey: |
50K is rather small (almost impossible) for one hectare unless the farmer will be actively involved and do most of the work himself. I believe an acre will need between 100K to 150K so one hectare will need close to 300K shyenar999: |
A bundle of cassava stems typically contains 50 (practically between 40 to 50) stems. Each stem is approximately 1m long. The picture shows bundles of cassava stems Hondo27: |

Facts necessary to consider: Nigeria's national average for maize yield is 1.8 tons per hectare. Some local seed companies have seeds with yield potential of 5 to 7 tons per hectare. There are improved imported hybrid seeds that promise 5 to 10 tonnes, some as high as 15 tons per hectare for sweet corn. So all in all, the following factors determine your yield: 1. Seed, 2. Soil, 3. Agronomy practices, 4. Fertilizer application, 5. Weather, 6. Spacing urstruly1: |
Take pictures and show so we can determine what type of pests and then recommend appropriate pesticides |
These things don't add up. First FG does not have lands in States except when allocated to FG by the State government and cannot be re-allocated to individuals on short or long term lease. Is Ogun-Osun River Basin Development the entity issuing lease documents? |
Sold for N70,000. Solokad Ventures at Ogunpa in Ibadan. Some have slots for fertilizer |

Get those experienced hunters to come and hunt on your farm for a week or two. Let them kill some of them. The rest will not return. Adieza: |
Prices are going up though. N130,000 is the new price for CABSTER. nigeriafarmer: |
One tonne of cassava is between 30K and 45K from most farmers. The local farmers prefer to use CABSTER (currently sold for 100K) or big basket (sold for 7K) to sell. Others sell in those taxis fully loaded for 45K. Different farmers may have different ways they measure nigeriafarmer: |

Most species are good for garri production. For yield (good start content and good tubers), use TME 419 gr8ofnnetwork: |
I agree the OP might not be ready. I am a commercial farmer. These are the few things I can see through this post: 1. OP does not have any knowledge of farming or cassava farming. Knowledge in farming cannot be substituted for money. CAVA II Directors call them Pen Farmers. 2. Size of the farm is too large for an absentee farmer who does not have any farming experience. Trust me, after this, he will most likely write a post on 'Why No Investor Should Venture Into Cassava Farming'. If you do not have experience, you muse be available to learn. If you are not available, you must be have experience. Both are very important but in this case, both are missing. 3. OP does not understand the variables in the complex algorithm of farming. The fact that a farmer was successful on one project does not guarantee success on another project. The farm manager does not determine the land (already leased), soil type, fertility, rainfall, etc. 4. OP already determined the variety he wants to plant. Not sure if he matched this with all other variables involved in cassava farming. 5. OP sounds knowledgeable in the business aspect of agriculture but there is deficiency of passion, if it exists at all. Farming is first about passion, then business and not the other way round. Sometimes the variables work in other ways (such as drought in Uganda and Kenya recently) but passion keeps you on the field. 6. He does not have a feasibility or business plan. Farm manager will provide same. That means he does not have an idea of what he wants. He has money, which is good but no business plan. My recommendation. Seek a partner not a farm manager. A farm manager is only an employee, whom you want to carry all the risks in the business Seek a partner who knows about farming, can joint-fund the business and you can learn along. If after one or two seasons, your passion does not jump up, cash out. Farming is not for everyone. Seun: |
