Dear UK-based Global Freelancers:

1. How do you receive money (USD) in the UK?

2. I saw a USD account feature on my Revolut app, can it be used for USD inflow?

3. How are Freelancers that earn from abroad taxed in the UK?

4. If I have a Nigerian USD account and receive USD into it, then convert to Naira, then convert to GBP, would that make sense and will the inflow be taxed?

Thanks

1. Use Barter by Flutterwave. It's a virtual USD card. *Use Google for more details*

2. Any Nigerian bank USD account card.

3. An international Master or Visa card.

4. Get a family, friend or trusted merchant abroad to help you pay while you transfer Naira to them.

Quinton45:
It was quite a good exchange rate today so I changed about 1000 dollars I earned on freelance. The exchange rate was 417.5 so I decided to change it. You can always check the best exchange rate here and compare it to your local exchanges. At least you will know which one is the best.

The highest I've paid for PCC is 4K.

Used to be 3K until February when the man said they've increased the rate to 4K.

You can starr negotiation from 3K.

I presume PCC is meant to be free for citizens.

Did it 5k at Alagbon when I left naija last year even though I still no use am.

So I reckon you start bargaining from 5k……

You get it in less than 30mins

Romance / Re: Who would you marry? The one you love or the one who loves you. by tolajay: 8:45pm On Apr 07, 2022
Quite unfortunate, bro.

The solution is that we all grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and be not babes tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine.

May I state that spiritual intelligence vis-a-vis im/maturity in Christ is not essentially about time but conscious commitment to growth.

Some persons have been saved for decades yet they like babies without power and fire, while some newly converted are deep and firing.

We can't excuse spiritual immaturity, because grace and resources are available to all.

In the long run, everyone will take responsibility for their actions and inactions - spiritually or physically.

Nebes:

Beautiful observation. But remember that our Christian journey is akin to a school. Some of us are in kindergarten, while others have spent years transforming. Some keep repeating classes.
In all, till we learn to love our wives like Christ loves us and our wives submit as we are expected to submit to God, failed marriages will be seen even in the church.
Romance / Re: Who would you marry? The one you love or the one who loves you. by tolajay: 7:46pm On Apr 07, 2022
Intrinsically, women are unable to love (in the context of amorous relationship).

They simply mirror and respond to acts and words of love from their male chasers. grin Sad truth!

Look around, who does most of chasing in a relationship? Who does most of the giving?

In fact, structurally (actually biologically) women are the receivers...pun. wink Mind you, the man is often pleased to be the giver (intrinsically and egotistically), all things being equal.

Spiritually, there's a reason the Bible commanded men to love their wives. Because it knew that women can only respond to love (they can't give). However, the response of the woman is meant to be submission. Read Ephesians 5.

The woman's love is wrapped in her submission.

This is the sequence: Man submits to Christ (as Christ submitted to God) > Man loves his wife (as Christ loves the church and died for it) > Wife submits to man (as Christ submitted to God). It therefore tells you that everyone in the family is submitted to Christ either directly or by proxy. Submission is actually both ways and all rounder in the Christian family.

When these scriptural commandments are obeyed to the latter, no storm or satan can break the family.

I have noticed that it is easier for a man who truly loves a woman to tell say "I love you" than it is for the woman.

Do you know it's harder for a woman to stay in a love-less relationship than it is for man to keep up with an obstinate woman?

Summary 1: It's the man's responsibility to LOVE.

Summary 2: Christ is the premise for a happy life and a successful marriage. God instituted marriage and it can't be operated with mere human psychology or theology. Jesus is the way!

Toks2008:
Let me paraphrase this so that it can make more sense. Would you rather be with someone who wishes to be with another person? Because this is the case if you find yourself married to the one you love who does not love you and YES people marry without really wanting to be with the person they are married to...

So let us have your opinion.

Good advise but with a couple of contradictions.

How does one profess to be a "Christian" without being submissive? shocked

No way! Submission is a lifestyle of Christians.

Perhaps we should distinguish between "Christians" and "Church-goers". One can't be a Christian and not Love like Christ (as a man) or Submit like Christ (as a woman).

The best marriages are modelled after Christ, who submitted himself to the Father's will even till death. For a blissful marriage, the Bible commands such act in Ephesians 5.

Nebes:
As a Christian male, please marry the woman you love but be sure she is a woman that can respect and submit to you.

Christian ladies, please marry the man that loves you. But if you don't have respect and can't submit, please stay single.

Do you have an idea if the Binance currency switch from Naira to Pounds is till valid?

Considering the options of transferring some of Naira assets on Binance directly to a UK account without the aboki pathway.

Travel / Re: Will You Relocate Abroad If You Have This? by tolajay: 9:43am On Mar 27, 2022
This is it!

One of my uncles who was/is doing continually laments and regrets why he didn't relocate. He got offers from Multinationals but he turned them down. Not relocating is his biggest regret.

He now encourages young people to leave, irrespective of their Nigerian earnings.

sharpman1:

A lot of people talking here don't even understand the situation. They think people running from Nigeria are poor or struggling.

I met someone in Houston that left Shell in Nigeria to relocate about 4 or 5 years ago.

My last salary in Nigeria was over 10m per annum (which was/is small in my opinion) in 2018 and I still relocated in 2019. I was an accountant in Nigeria and I got a job in a mid-size public accounting firm the same month I got my work authorization. At exactly 2 years, I moved to a big4 firm. The same big4 in Nigeria refused to employ me because of age or class of degree.

I am currently paying cash for a master's program that will end this year. My program cost over $27,000 but I am allowed to pay per semester based on the number of credits I register for. No way I would have been able to afford $27,000 for school fees if I remained in Nigeria. The value of my retirement savings account in one year alone is more than my over 10 years pension fund account in Nigeria. One of the companies I worked for still owes me over 1 million Naira pension deductions not remitted to my PFA. So many other things that have happened that I won't want to disclose here so as not to give away my identity.

I will always advise anyone. LEAVE if you have the opportunity to relocate legally. Staying in Nigeria was a waste of time for me. If I had come earlier.....I can imagine what I would have achieved.

That's why he's your "senior colleague".

He knows and sees what you ain't seeing, hence, he made such decision that you can't comprehend.

Nigeria is too fragile! It's always not about money, which one would eventually make in excess abroad.

Five Children at 35 years? Did you marry at 25 or you adopted some?

Given your stated realities, I'd say 700K is small money to get by per month, especially, if you're in any of the big cities in Nigeria.

You're earning an average $1300/£930 pcm and $15,000/£11,500 per annum.

Let me ask; what's your monthly/annual savings after expenses?

About relocating or not, you need to do some deep personal research and pray for God's leading to know what to do.

We don't know all the factors or realities about your life to aid better advise.

Best wishes.

drpossibilities:
If you are currently working in a company that pays you N700,000 monthly and you are on the right path to becoming a director in that company by 2030 (8 years from now), will you resign and relocate to Canada? Note the following:

1. Directors earn not less than N2,200,000.00 monthly and salaries are reviewed upwards in the company annually.

2. You and the company both contribute to a pension fund with a reputable pension fund administrator monthly and your pension fund account balance in just 6 years of working with the company is over 8 million naira.

3. The company caters for the health needs of you, your spouse and 5 children at no cost to you under HMO.

4. You enjoy performance bonuses annually.

5. Your next promotion is to Assistant General Manager where you will begin to earn about US$6,000 per annum as foreign trips allowances.

6. You are married with 5 children.

7. You are 35 years old.
