Nairaland General › Cheating Couple Forced To Walk Unclad In Benue by tomakint(op):
Terrible things are indeed attached to superstitious beliefs in Africa! Read on......

They say this happened on Thursday 19th September at Orokam, Obadigbo Local Government area of Benue State.

According to the story, the woman is said to be the wife of a popular school proprietor in the area who was caught cheating days after he died.

She lost her husband on Tuesday.
They say according to the Orokam culture, there is an oracle called “ALEKWU” in the town which punishes married women who cheat on their husbands and also deters people from committing atrocities.

This oracle warns husbands of adulterous women to perform certain rites for cleansing of himself and family or die.

They claim the proprietor died because he didn't heed to the warning of the oracle so the cheating couple had to walk the town naked to cleanse the land and she was sent back to her father's house and banned from attending her husband's funeral.

Politics › Reps Speaker, Tambuwal, Says Members Can Now Join APC! by tomakint(op): 11:09am On Nov 27, 2013
The tsunami which swept through the political landscape in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon is set to hit the chamber of the National Assembly, with the House of Representatives as the starting point of the move.

Reacting to the merger of the All Progress Congress and the new PDP leadership, the Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, welcomed the development and declare the floor open for any of the members who are ready to join the merger, officially.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, he said: "Members of Parliament will decide collectively on when to defect. They have their internal process if they decide to cross carpet."

Tambuwal, who made his position known in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media, said it is left to members to activate the process. "Let us wait and see whether they can activate the process or not.”

The 1999 Constitution allows defection of lawmakers if there is division in their political party.

effizy123: GEJ has shown that he doesnt understand the game of politics. Tinubu from holding one state in 2007 has moved on to 19 states in 2013. whatever you think about this does not matter at this time, politics is a game of numbers and that is what Tinubu has targeted by building that number. How can a sitting president be loosing key stakeholders like 7 state governors to opposition party and somebody will tell me that 2015 is sure for that president. GEJ needs to go and learn how to play chess. Tinubu is using him seriously, right from the election of Tambuwal as speaker. I also note that Timipre Silva is also in the fold of the APC. Now we have seen what an inexperinced president can cause a party and a nation. I rest my case and see how 2015 plays out.
I think what should be of great concern to you and something to really worry about is that, out of the 19 States you claimed your APC grabbed, how many of your supporters will vote for whoever emerged as your Presidential Aspirant? How many will still vote for Jonathan from your 19 grabbed States and how do you intend to turn many votes to your almighty APC from PDP/Jonathan controlled States....these are the points you all are missing and the reason I don't know! APC permutations may work under a Gubernatorial election but Presidential? I think not, now think again bro, think huh

Too many of them here, just emotionally attached unnecessarily to APC, not even minding those who make up the Party....imagine some dissident members of the same PDP they love to hate just cross-carpeted to their Almighty Party (Alabosi Progrethieves Conmen) and the next thing....they roll out the drums celebrating, somersaulting on top wetin undecided

Obiagelli: tell me you don't feel threatened one bit.
Threatened? Is that a new word in the Lexicon of the APC apologists? Just asking.....with Tinubu, Tom Ikimi, Lamido, Atiku, Oyinlola, Baraje, and other recycled, tested (but failed) politicians you expect Jonathan and his supporters to feel threatened? It seems you are still in one long sleep, don't worry when it's time I, Tomakint will wake you up!

Built2last: wake up bro, PDP is like Nigerian railway system. they have found their way in every facet of our lives.

Jonathan cannot loose election in 2015. remind me of this post in 2015.

He has INEC, ARMY, AIRFORCE, POLICE, NAVY, CBN, NNPC, FIRS ministers from all the states of the federation and the merchineries that determine election in Nigerian are under his control.

mind you, some ministers are more powerful and wealthier than their state governors. We play money politics in Nigeria and i wont pretend about it. Will PDP loose some states? YES. what of presidency? capital NO.
Truly, you are "Built to Last" cool
