Nairaland / General / Dr. Udofia, The World Lost A Great Human Rights Crusader And Corruption Fighter by Tonway(m): 12:23am On Feb 17, 2023
A leading Nigerian human rights crusader and corruption fighter of the International Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Society, Abuja, Engr. Dr. Chief (Prince) Udo Isong Udofia has passed on. Dr. Udofia, until his demise, was the Director General at the International Human Rights and Anti-corruption Society in Abuja. He passed on last year in August, after a brief illness. He will be interned on the 18th, February, 2023, at his country home of Mbat Esifon, Obot Akara LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

Late Engr. Dr. Prince Udofia carved a niche for himself as a a leading human rights crusader and a corruption fighter, who feared no individual holders of public office, and never compromised his stance on the actualization of what he stood for. He can be heard exchanging verbal attacks with Police Commissioners, police officers, court officials, and not living politicians out in his advocacy. He dragged them to the courts, and petitioned relevant agencies and organizations, all in the quest to defend human rights and insuring that people are properly guided by the law of the land. Dr. Udofia was a human rights fighter of international repute, a human rights status holder with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC), African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council (AUECOSOCC), and an Observer Status with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Dr. Udofia was also a permanent member of the United Nations Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

Now that a dogmatic, unbiased, uncompromised, and uninfluenced human right interventionist and a fighter of corruption of any form in any public or private, public-private, (Governmental and non-governmental organization, suppression and depression between individual, and individuals, and individuals, between government and individuals, between military and Para-military and anyone is gone, Nigeria, the international community and those that seeks a free life and freedom have so missed a great asset.

A quick look at some of the interventions Dr. Udofia doggedly undertook During His Life Time.

· In 2007, Dr. Udofia intervened via his unique instrument of human rights and anti-corruption undertakings in the electoral case between the elected governor of Abia State, HE. Dr. Theodore Orji, now a Senator vs. Onyema Ugochwukwu, former MD, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and in the end, his intervention paid off for Sen. Orji, the Gov. Theodore Orji.

He also played an instrumental role in the IGP of Police establishing the police community policing body that is yielding much fruit in crime fighting today.

· He is a trusted and respected election observer.

· It was Dr. Udofia’s intervention with his human rights and corruption fighting that resulted in the confirmation and installation of Hon. Justice Abdul. A. Kafarati as the substantive Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, in which he was in an acting capacity, a position he had held for too long, all in an attempt to infringe on his rights by the then Senate’s clearance, Presidency accentuation, and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)'s confirmation. Case with Ref. No. IHRAS/AR/NIG/NJC/VOL.111/200, dated, 22nd, Nov, 2017.

· In May, 2017, in Calabar, Cross River State, Engr. Udofia intervened in rights abuse case between a police man SGT. Ibiang Ofem and Naval personnel in a Discreet investigation and reporting panel,

· He was fully involved in stopping the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from initiating and implementing speed limits, as he foresaw the agency using that to victimize motorists and road users.

· He used his human rights engagement to bare on Etisalat, now 9Mobile to reduced their then high tariff, among many others.

· Adieu Dr. Engr. Udofia, the Great Human Rights Crusader and Corruption Fighter.

This is the kind of generalisation that no one wants to be caught in its web. Just imagine you being associated with what you didn't do just because one or two people from your tribe have been caught doing that! =117946900]Op, how did you know that musa is innocent? All ABOKI now are suspects! undecided[/quote]

Musa Abubakar, now in police custardy for kidnapping that is not true.
All family members, friends, and community care now is “if he is still alive”,
Police won’t allow his people to see him.

Call it travesty of justice or another unprofessional method synonymous to the Nigerian police force and you won’t be wrong, as innocent citizen Musa Abubakar become the next unlucky victim of their barbaric unprofessional method of crime investigation.
And contrary to the popularly perceived notion that the southern people of Nigeria are the only target of Nigerian police and other security outfits high handedness and unprofessional approach, an innocent Musa Abubakar, a Nigerian man from Ngorore, Adamawa State, now in their nest has punctured that notion, as their crooked method is uniform to all Nigerians, tribe, religion, or morality not considered. And trust as always, Musa’s life will never remain the same.
According to the tale by almost everyone we spoke to/about Musa in Ngorore, Musa is not capable, or known, or even thought to be an inter- state kidnapper by any inclination. This so because, Musa doesn’t look it, he is poor, he has never been known or seen not to be in Ngoroge, his home town for even a day in the last, over ten years. He is poor, he is not educated, he is not ostentatious, he doesn’t even have and can’t afford to be ostentatious, he has two wives, he serves his boss, as one of the many boys of his master, a big time cattle dealer. His master, who craved anonymous, is a very upright, law abiding, discipline, truthful bridge builder and unity promoter, who want the police to do their work and treat Musa’s case according to how conventional and international best practice required. Until Musa’s worrisome arrest by the men of the Nigerian police, Akuzu, Anambra state, who came all the way from Anambra state to Ngorore Police Division on the investigation of a traced telephone number they claimed was used to called and threatened family of kidnapped victim not to call and demand for the released of their held love one anymore, the people of Ngorore never had any reason to spent day and night, across religious line praying for the quick resolution of Musa’s unfortunate mix up.
Musa’s master was at his post at the cattle market when his phone rang. He was directed to report to the Ngorore police division, Adamawa State. On his arrival there, he was asked if he knows a certain Musa, whose description resembles his boy, who was as at that moment in Genye, another local government area’s cattle market to buy cattle for him, (the master), and to navigate how the transportation system which they also facilitate would meet their objective of delivering cattle to their customers, who are scattered across every state of the federation.

By the time Musa found his way to the Ngorore police division, he was simply greeted with a mask man, whom after his unveiling, he simply pointed to a flabbergasted, tired, confused, and lost Musa.
“Shi ne wana’n”, the hooded man pointed.

According to the eye witness report, Musa was handcuffed immediately, and ferried to the dreaded Akuzo police division, Anambra state. The report claimed that the police on kidnapping investigation from Anambra have traced a phone number, which belongs to one Uba, who held from Mayobelwa, another local government area still in Adamawa state.
As confusing as the entire episode of this unfortunate event is, that is the lot of an innocent citizen, as he languished in police custody under extreme brutality for a crime he knows nothing about.
It was alleged by the police that Musa once used Uba’s phone number and spoke in pidgin English, to whoever he (Uba) didn’t know until the police showed up for him. They picked him up, tortured him, and he agreed that Musa once used his phone once upon a time, but what they discussed, he didn’t know.

Musa does not hear even a word of pidgin or English, may be very few like “gudu moni”, yes, or no. H has never left his boss’ operational posts for the last fourteen years to anywhere outside Adamawa or Taraba state, since his elder brother, who is the Imam of a village in Ngorore suggested and handed him over to his master to mentor and to have him doing something, Musa has earned the respect, trust and confidence of his boss. Musa survives only from wages or reward he gets from his boss’ business, he has married two wives in the fourteen years of getting income as Islam tradition and tenets allows. Since Musa was picked up, no relations of his has been allowed to have access to him. After rounds of tortures and his folks denied access to him, they have kept on paying money to the police, as requested so that Musa can be taken to the hospital for some medical care, as his body do so need it so badly, after his drilling to get him speak the truth, accept, or whatsoever.

The police feel that Musa is a criminal and may know more than he is accepting that he knows. His people are calling on a thorough investigation under the law to unravel the mystery, even as they called for voice analysis, and other forensic investigation that can retrieved and analyze every call from the said phone. They fear that Musa might have been killed, as the police would only take money from his folks on his behalf, but has never allowed them access since he was wheeled away from his state to Anambra.
They are calling on the general public, the police IG, human right groups, and all concern Nigerians and men of goodwill across the world to intervene, so that this inhumane precedent would not continue.

Politics / If You Love Peter Obi, You’ll Love Pastor Cole. (photos) by Tonway(m): 12:52am On Aug 25, 2022
If there is one shocker that is going to shock many Nigerians as we head toward the 2023 general election, it is the fact that we Nigerians are not going to be voting along party lines anymore. We will be voting based on individuals' contestant’s integrity and track record of progressive leadership that means well to our country and positive accomplishments. This is going to be so, going by the recent upsurge of interest from first-time voters and many young people who in times past had not shown interest in the electoral process, and who hadn’t identified with any political party as bonafide members.

Though many electoral robbers who think they have mastered the infamous act of swinging electoral results in their favor, courtesy of their criminal interference may be scheming and banking on the hope that it is going to be business as usual, unfortunately, they’re going to be met with utter disappointment. Such confidence is captured in their usually expressed statements like, “they don’t have structure, they don’t have the pedigree, money, ability to spend, bribed the umpire, security operatives, and the voters, buying votes, and so forth”. Unknown to them, Nigerians today appear resolute in being part of the process of choosing their representatives that will be representing and running their affairs in the next four years; from the State/Federal House of Assemblies, the Senate, Governors, and the President, respectively.

And as the electoral blues permeate our national discussion, one obvious characteristic that is going to characterize the voting pattern next year is going to be the trending pattern of voting for individuals based on their pedigree. This, we can comfortably state, is the very reason the candidate of the Labour Party’s (LP) flag bearer in the 2023 presidential race, HE. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi is resonating with many Nigerians. His prudence, integrity, priorities, steadfastness, discipline, demonstrating knowledge of our country’s problems, and going all out to proffering modalities to tackle those problems, and of course not given to the ostentatious living, as synonymous with many politicians in the country, have been identified as the core value system a leader needs to be able to lead in today's world successfully. And so if that’s what Nigerians are looking for, irrespective of the political party the individual is standing election on, then River State is lucky to have such individuals as Peter Obi in Pastor Tonye Patrick Cole. Pastor Cole is the Chairman and Managing Director of Sahara Energy, and the gubernatorial candidate of APC, Rivers State.

Nairaland / General / What Many Akwa Ibomites Do Not Know About OBA--- Retired Principal Ubeng. by Tonway(m): 10:18am On Aug 19, 2022
Yesterday in Obot Akara local government area, a retired principal, who served for many years as a Principal in Ibionno LGA of Akwa Ibom State brought to the fore the other side of the Young Progressive Party (YPP)’s Governorship candidate in the upcoming governorship election in the state, Senator Bassey Albert, that many don’t know about.

Chief (Mr) Ubeng, who doubled as the political adviser of Nto edino clan, of of the three clans that made up Obot Akara LGA revealed to the chagrin crowd that he got endeared to OBA because of his magnanimity and unparalleled generosity in providing scholarship to every student in Ibiono Ibom, who gained admission into an institution of higher learning irrespective of their political affinity or any difference. The retired Principal reiterated that this is not something that someone told him, but as a Principal in the secondary schools in Ibiono for many years, he witnessed virtually every student that passed out from the many secondary schools he administered getting a scholarship courtesy OBA once they received and can tender their admission letter from any higher institution in the country, including abroad.

The former Principal stated that this is a tradition that he hasn’t seen with any politician in Akwa Ibom State. He further pointed out that that act alone is the motivating factor that made him decide to come and identify with YPP and OBA aspirations to govern the state, stating that OBA will be a good and compassionate governor of the state. He called on the people of Obot Akara to give their vote in block to OBA, assuring them that their future and that of their children is guaranteed with OBA as the governor.

Politics / Justice For OBA, Using Pastor Sunny Ibuot’s Testimony. (PHOTO) by Tonway(m): 5:02pm On Aug 16, 2022
Pastor Sunny Ibuot, former Ikot Ekpene LGA Chairman, and the immediate past Commissioner for Labour and Productivity is a minister of God with Living Faith Chapel, also known as Winners Chapel. He recently voluntarily resigned from his appointment as the Honourable Commissioner for Labour and Productivity in Governor Udom Emmanuel’s government on the ground of personal conviction, principle, and loyalty to Senator (Obong) Basey Albert, the Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, and leading governorship candidate in the Akwa Ibom state 2023 governorship race. Obong Senator Basey Albert, popularly known as OBA is being intentionally victimized, falsely accused, painted black, and labeled a cultist by the government of Akwa Ibom State and its agents in order to make way for the Governor’s preferred candidate and stooge, Pastor Umo Eno.

The above facts clearly exemplify Pastor Ibuot's life, his inherent impeccable characteristics, his unwavering support and loyalty to the distinguished Senator, a man government hatefully and falsely tagged a cultist, and not fit to govern the state. With the open sponsored media attack over an allegation that has not been proven by anyone, but based on the selfish hidden motive, motivated by hatred by some people to stop him, OBA from clinching the governorship ticket of the PDP in favour of the governor’s stooge, Pastor Umo Eno, one would have thought that such a man with Pastor Suny Ibuot’s testimony would want to have nothing do with him (OBA), but reverse become the case, as Ibuot, like his God, does not judge as man judged.

Akwa Ibomites and all mankind should be more objective in their assessment of the Senator, and the issues at stake. Pastor Ibuot’s righteous’ testimony and tenacity in followership and loyalty can be the new prism glass to look at OBA, as against the government’s sponsored narratives. We don’t need to be in limbo anymore as to what to believe. We don’t have to be swayed by the ill-motivated propaganda and victimization by someone who hasn’t done well with the mandate of the people that was given to him but seeks to provide a stooge to cover for him. We should consider Pastor Sunny Ibuot, a good man following a perceived bad man, and come to the conclusion that there is more than meets the eye.

With Pastor Sunny Ibuot’s virtues, some rare virtues to find amongst people in this climate today, if true OBA is a cultist, wouldn’t Pastor Ibuot be risking his steadfastness and righteous calling in faithfully following and supporting such a man of questionable character? If true, Umo Eno is God’s will for the State, wouldn’t Pastor Ibuot be going in contrary to God’s will with his tenacious followership of OBA? But if the Pastor, who, like the three Hebrew boys that would not defile themselves with the King’s meat, could truly be led by his inner intuition by taking such life and political option that he is toying out of conviction and principle, then justice, truth, and equity call on the people of Akwa Ibom State to reassessed the accusation against OBA, and as punishment for the people who intended to deceive and lied to them, boycott the government (PDP) and see their Umo Eno as a decoy to their hidden agenda and reward OBA with the vote to become the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

I am sharing this thought with you because not quite long ago, I used to be one of those swallowing hooks, line, and sinker, the many fabricated demonization theory out there against the person of OBA by the “holier than thou puritanical assembly” of the selfish leaders who are out to deceive the people to entrench their selfish agenda, but now, using the unequal loyalty of Pastor Sunny Ibuot and his holly alliance with God as the new prism glass to take a second look at OBA, I have shifted my ground on what to believe of Udom and his hatchet men’s coinage. Pastor Ibuot is a man that I have heard and known his story of how witches, wizards, and “occultic” powers congregated against and tormented with ailments just for him to denounce Christ, and bow to Baal, a man who refused to consider the many traditional and devil's philosophical suggestions brought to him to be healed because they are not in line with the word of God which he so believes. I hereby, admonish all to begin to re-assess the agenda and the techniques of these accusers. We should all fall in line with our support for OBA as the Cyrus of our time, whom God wants to use to liberate the people of Akwa Ibom State from the criminal and wicked attitude of her leaders.

Pastor Ibuot to me may be the few remaining Akwa Ibom politicians with integrity and good character in this era where fathers can sell their children, friends backstabbed friends, and sell them out because of a mere morsel of porridge and political recognition. We live in a time when our conscience has been completely mortgaged, our sense of loyalty, right and wrong completely eluding us.
Our humanity demands truth, fairness, and justice.
#JusticeForOBA

Politics / Young Progressive Party (YPP) Emerging As The Third Force In Akwa Ibom State by Tonway(m): 1:09pm On Feb 21, 2022
Displease with the inappropriate self-centered democratic behaviors of the People Democratic Party (PDP), and the inability of the leading opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State to be able to put its house in order and checkmate the ruling party, the third force in Young Progressive Party (YPP) seems to have risen to take up the challenge of salvaging the rote and restoring hope and prosperity to the people of Akwa Ibom.

The Young Progressive Party (YPP) which is being championed in the State by Apostle Yenime Andy, in her Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Chapter Executives' meeting over the weekend, promised to leave no stone unturned in her quest to ameliorate the enveloping hunger and abject poverty that has been fostered on our people as a garment by the attitudes of those in government, agenda which only accommodate very few individuals that have cornered the massive resources of the state to themselves and their family members alone.

“ISD YPP Chapter Executives' meeting is to appraised the progress of the party in our senatorial district so far, brainstorm on how to strengthen the ten Chapters of the Senatorial district, and to prop them to be able to compete favorably as we head to the 2023 general election”, the Senatorial District party Chairman of the party, Comrade Anietie Etim Jackson informed the Chapter Excos in attendance. The Excos meeting took place in the ancient city of Ikot Ekpene, on Saturday with Chapter Excos from across the ten local government areas of the Senatorial district in attendance.

Addressing the chapter's executives of the party, the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial (ISD) district chairman of the party, welcomes all the ten chapters' executives of the party in the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district for finding time to answer to the call for the Chapter executives meeting of the party. Comrade Jackson counseled the well attended ISD Chapter executives to take greetings from himself and the State Chairman, Apostle Yenime Andy, to their people in their respective chapters. The Chairman also counseled the chapter Executives to desist from insulting people from other parties, pointing out that YPP is not an opposition party, but an alternative party. the Comrade, who also doubled as the acting chairman of the Ini LGA chapter of the party, assured the chapter executives that come 2023, YPP, which is said to be the progressive party of the youth, is set to bring qualitative service to the people of Akwa Ibom state and would be forming the government of the state as well, whether those in government like it or not. He challenged the chapter Excos to evangelize the party to the people of ISD.
Adding to the admonition of the SD chairman, Akparawa Idongesit Godwin, Ikono LGA Chapter Chairman, counseled members to be steadfast, courageous, committed, and shameless in selling the the party to the electorate, pointing out that the next election in the state is going to be between the government and the people. In that same light, the Obot Akara Chapter Chairman of the party, Adede David Effiong, went through memory lane to remind the people of the many destructive failings of the dominant party in the State, which he pointed out brought about the bastardization of our sense of existence as a people, and hinder progress. Adede Effiong counseled the people to unite and be resolute to be able to overturn the yoke of the evil and selfish politicians from the ruling party from their neck and be free. The Women's Chapter leader of the party, Pastor Shalom Iffiok encouraged the women, which she pointed out are the pillars of society to refuse the N1000 that is always given to them by the PDP during election and insist on real governance that would bring about shared prosperity for everyone, which she revealed is YPP. YPP, service to the people, YPP, service to the nation. Pst. emphasized on strengthening and building the party's structure at the chapter level for effectiveness.

Nairaland / General / Boundary Hostility In Nigeria The Agelong War Continued In Abama And Ariam Photo by Tonway(m): 4:02pm On Feb 11, 2022
It was yesterday that I went to my village to see my elderly mother. On getting to the village, I only met a completely deserted community in the place I call my home and my cradle. I brought out my phone to call my brothers to enquire about their whereabouts. I called my first brother and enquired of his whereabout; and he told me that he was in the thick forest of Abama community, Obot Akara LGA, Akwa Ibom state. Abama is a neighboring village to the people of Ariam, in Ikwanu LGA of Abia State. Abama has existed and formed part of Akwa Ibom State’s map for over three hundred years. And for the over three hundred years that we have existed, we have lived with the communal war with our Ariam neighbors and brothers from Ikwanu LGA, Abia state, a war that every generation has come to meet and know as “Awan Mboredem”. (The Igbo War). And a war that has continued to record more casualties.

Like the enactment of the story of David in the bible, where he visited his brothers at the war front, I took a very risky trip to where Ime, my brother informed me he and his other two brothers were, along with other youths and men of my community. To the people of Abama, we have to become a government to ourselves and defend ourselves and our ancestral land from needless attack and hostility from our hostile Igbo brothers, who boast of sophisticated armed and well-coordinated personnel, who are mostly machineries sponsored by their well-to-do brethren with businesses across the country and the world. After my interactions with the men in the front, and the women who have deserted their homes for safety, we are using this medium to call on the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Moses Ekpo, the deputy governor of Abia State; as well the Vice President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, whose offices caters for interstates boundary related issues in the country as their constitutional role, to please, as a matter of national urgency, set things, human and material resources in motion to make sure that the conflagration between these two boundary communities from their respective states does not degenerate to where more lives and properties are wasted, and the people unable to go about their daily and peaceful pursuits.

We are calling on the government to be more proactive in devising a working and lasting measure to solve, once and for all this age-long hostility that has never seized to claim lives in every generation. We cannot afford another disruption to our peace as a country; as we are already grappling with so much of such in the north. All intervention agencies, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) the Boundary Commission, the Senator and House of Rep member representing the people from both sides, all and sundry, set in to ameliorate the suffering of those who have currently fled their homes and peace restored urgently. Let there be handshakes across the divides, initiated by the leaders of the two communities from the national assembly, and others to bring about lasting peace among our people.

God bless Abama

God bless Akwa Ibom State

God bless the federal republic of Nigeria.

According to our source, who craved anonymity, Governor Udom is very disappointed in the former deputy Governor, HE, Senator Chris Ekpeyong, who is now the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North Senatorial district at the National Assembly for his outright refusal to pay back the N500M the Governor loaned him to bankroll his electoral campaign in 2019.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, whom we were reliably informed went all out to fund and ensure victory for the former deputy Governor over his (the Governor’s) benefactor, the former Governor, HE. Senator (Dr) Godswil Obot Akpabio, who is now the Hon. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, had thrown so much money aside N500M that he categorically stated that he was lending the former deputy Governor, now Senator, to be paid back after his victory, and subsequent emolument as a Senator. In a situation of biting the finger that fed him, according to our source, the Senator is claiming that he did not plan on standing for election, and as such he is not going to pay back the said N500M as agreed between him and the Governor.

Senator Ekpeyong, who immediately after the 2019 general election started a new building at the Shelter Afrique high brow of the State, was said not to utilize a dime of the borrowed N500M for his election, as he was cunningly running his campaign behind other candidates for the respective positions of the party. Governor Udom, who himself has and is known for cunningness and reneging on the agreement, has met his match, after all, it is the State’s money.

Could this possibly be the reason the Governor is not doing anything in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district??
Politics / 2023, The One Nigeria That Can Deliver On Our Collective Ideals As A Country by Tonway(m): 1:21pm On Sep 06, 2021
If there are noises Nigerians earnestly want to hear more now amid resounding noises of insecurity, banditry, insurgency, economic hardship, corruption, and impunity as a way of life of politicians, it is the noises that would assure them of their security, human dignity, and better life as citizens of a prosperous country. Revealing who that Nigerian leader that has what it takes in terms of the pedigree, antecedent, and the willpower to deliver on those ideals, Don P Eno-Obong Inyang, also known simply as Don P Original, the Director General of Aminu Tambuwal Triumphant Movement (ATM), who spoke to your IKPNews platform on phone earlier today through our correspondent, said is none other than HE, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, and former Speaker of the House of Assembly, (RT Hon) Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.

Describing Tambuawal as a detribalized and patriotic Nigerian who truly understands the problem of Nigeria, and has the adequate the knowledge and capacity on how to go about to solve Nigeria problems, Don P Original also called on the People Democratic Party (PDP) to put their house in order and work toward giving the Governor and former Speaker of the House of Assembly the ticket to seek the mandate to salvage Nigeria from the route she is currently on.

Eno-Obong, who has been in the forefront of selling Tambuwal across Nigeria, pointed out that, if Nigeria must get out of the socio-economic dungeon she finds herself currently as a result of bad leadership, then a detribalized man or woman with the capacity, and the will-power to deliver on the collective ideals of all Nigerians, irrespective of their tribes, religion, status, or whatsoever affiliations is needed. And that person, he revealed is Hon. Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal. Don P who pledge to remain a true, hardworking, honest, and resilient Nigerian, called on Nigerian youths from across board to take their destiny into their hands, and work toward unifying our country.

Just yesterday at Abiak-okpo Nkap, disaster was averted as village heads from NtoEdino ward4 almost came in collusion against each other as a result of another promise to build

If there is one political mistake that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, HE, Senator (Dr) Godswil Akpabio has made that has taken the people of Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District backward, it is the mistake of decamping to the All Progressive Congress (APC) without adequate consultation and the awareness that would have carried his teaming supporters along. That singular mistake not only cost the former governor his seat at the Red Chamber, it also turned back the hand of the clock, eroded every progress recorded over the years, and brought back to the people the lack of development experience of the past from former deputy Governor, and the Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, HE, Engr. (Dr) Chris Ekpeyong, who has been the leading political figure in the region.

Senator Ekpeyong, also known as (Ukarakpa) has a reputation for cheating his people and denying them development. The people of Obot Akara LGA, his ward, Nto-Edino Ward4, and the entire senatorial district has suffered a lack of development for over four decades that this man has held sway as the leading political figure which the people had thought was over and gone for good. But the failure of Akpabio to retain his representation, which the people loved and accepted, gave way to this man to return with the same old story of cheating, denial, and lack of development.

There are fresh tales among people of forceful confiscating and criminal conversion of people’s land in the name of citing one developmental project or the other, substandard and shady execution of road constructions, and other projects, and lots more. Fresh in our minds that we can readily pinpoint are the Mbot Ekpa Enang road construction, the promised building of Aditagha market, the confiscating of people’s land with the deceitful promise to established rice farm/mill, which has been converted to personal ownership, Old firing road, etc.

Just yesterday at Abiak-okpo Nkap, disaster was averted, as village heads from NtoEdino ward4 almost came in collusion against each other as a result of another promised to build the same Aditagha market, which once upon a time, the Senator, when he was the deputy Governor had made women from the surrounding communities to parked and carried sands for months, with the hope that the promised to build the market was real, only for some relations of the Senator to cart away the blocks to built their houses with it. There is also the Apostolic Church at the Senator’s hometown junction of Ikot Ukana that was demolished at the order of the Senator over two years ago when the Senator promised to give the worshipers a befitting edifice, as he made plans to bury his late wife. On till today, worshipers have no place to worship, talk less the promised befitted edifice. The tales of imposing people from the Councilorship level, to the Chairmanship, and other political positions are all the trademarks of his operational mantra that has denied his people effective representation and development.

With all these atrocities against a people in this era of information and social justice, one wonders whether some political office holders in Nigeria have a conscience and emotional intelligence at all!

The unabated thriving business of kidnapping in Nigeria

Say No More "They are Fulani Herdsmen", they are TIV People, Say no more!

Over the years, the Tiv people, who are the majority tribe in Benue State has always cried victims of unknown herders, kidnappers and other criminal activities in their domain. We can recalled, the Governor of Benue State, HE, Samuel Otorm on several occasions calling the attention of the country and the entire world to the plight of his people on the incessant attack by criminal elements . Communities in Benue state have come under several attacks from those we have come to know as the Fulani Herdsmen. While allegations of killing by the Fulani Herdsmen was ongoing, there is also cases of kidnappings, cattle rustling, robberies, wanton destruction of properties and other collateral damages always befalling the people of Benue. The whole country and the international community have, as a result come to be sympathetic to the plight of the Governor and his people. We should also remind our readers that it was, this allegation that led to the decamping of the governor from the ruling political party, APC to PDP, accusing the President, PMB of failing to protect him and ... for complete reading, click...https://www.fon.com.ng/2021/06/the-truth-and-facts-about-real-identity.html

Politics / Electoral Myths That Stops You From Going Out To Vote On Election Days (photos) by Tonway(m): 4:39pm On Jun 15, 2021
We are aware of the ruling party, sometimes maneuvering to get some of their members or sympathizers included as INEC commissioners as in the case of the APC and PMB’s government nominating that lady with sharp mouth and quick to abuse anyone who disagree with the APC government and President, the special adviser to President Mohamadu Buhari on social media, Ms. Laureta Onoche as part of the country’s electoral empire, and sometimes posting police commissioners and army chiefs they trust could do their biddings to states they have interests and what have you, but the truth is that, their agenda and machinations don’t always stand. It is a huge lie, as it is not going to be only their people that would constitute the umpire body. And plus the fact that international community and other foreign observers are watching. Any police and Army chiefs, and any umpire would also be mindful to the fact that their hard years of career labour could just go up the flame because of someone’s inordinate ambition of four years of one Politician who would not be able to help you should the bubble boast. The personnels of the federal parastatals know these, that there are eyes scrutinizing them, and if they laid down their guard, they would live to regret. So let’s lay aside this myth and lies and come out and vote as 2023 approaches.

1. OUR VOTES DO NOT COUNT: The “our votes does not counts” myth is the greatest of all the myths that has kept many Nigerians away from going out to excised their fundamental civic rights of determining who leads us in all tires of our government in all our elections. This myth has disenfranchised many for several years, most especially our inform class since the return to democracy over twenty two years ago. It is this myth that would make many Nigerians who should have all come out en mass to join with other Nigerians of goodwill to dethrone leaders that has not delivered on their mandates and manifestoes. It is this myth that has continues to leave power in the hands of our corrupt and ineffective politicians as against “power belonging to the people”, which is the norm in every democratic setting. The truth is that, our votes’ truly counts. We can take some lessons that can disabused and lay to rest this “conspiratory” myth from the 2019 general election of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bauchi states gubernatorial election respectively, not forgetting Zamfara, and of recent, the 2020 Edo State gubernatorial election, etc.
The truth is that, our votes’ counts. But the criminal ....for complete reading, hook up with your FriendsOfNaija with a click ...https://www.fon.com.ng/2021/06/the-three-3-electoral-myths-that-stops.html

Politics / Akpabio’s Gbaramatu Gamble That Saves PMB Yet Again. (photos) by Tonway(m): 1:55pm On Jun 10, 2021
Just like fans and spectators, including studio analysts castigates and call for the exclusion of a certain player in a team, but the Coach keep faith with that player for whatever benefits he (Coach) knows the player is bringing to the team, so also is this man in the APC and in PMB’s government.

If anyone cannot see what Akpabio has done to safe this government and country from total collapse in the last two weeks, then let us as crises managers inform you that, Akpabio just pulled yet another great save that yet again, saves PMB and the APC government... FriendsOfNaija

Politics, like the game of football is a very interesting and surprising vocation. Most times, you don’t have to be the best of players, but the strategy adopted by your team and the role allocated to you can make you very relevant in wining against the very bests. In a nutshell, politics, like football, the team you play with, and the players in your team makes the lots whole of the difference in saving the head coach’s head. The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator (Dr) Godswil Obot Akpabio as a member of the APC political party has pulled two very important saves that have saved President Mohammadu Buhari’s (PMB) political career, and keep the APC’s government in the game. Politics / 3 Cups Of Garri For N100, What Governor Udom Does Not Understand! (photos) by Tonway(m): 11:20am On May 20, 2021
Though, one would have considered this gesture a very noble and well thought out humane gesture, but considering the fact that the population of those working at the secretariat (government workers) is a very insignificant number, compared to the total majority of the population of the state, suffice us to conclude that the objective of the gesture has been defeated on arrival.

Yesterday, “to mitigate the adverse effect of hunger in Akwa Ibom State”, the government, through its ministry of Agriculture doled out the sales of garri, one of the leading staple foods in the state and sold three cups for a hundred naira, against the two cups for five hundred naira that it is being sold in the markets across the state. This is where Governor Udom Emmanuel, a “supposed” corporate expert continue to get it wrong since his emergence as the helmsman of Akwa Ibom Sate, as he completely and absolutely act through all of his policies as if he knows nothing about social governance, except he is deliberately ignoring the majority of the state’s population and plunging the state into poverty!

One would have admonished the governor to go and learned from his predecessor when it comes to social governance, but considering his antagonistic stand with his former boss, we would employ the governor to instead listen to his conscience, as well as consider the recent data released from the office of the national statistic for employment, which revealed that his state is leading in high rate of unemployment.
When the governor inaugurated his dakata philosophy focus of his administration, many had thought that finally, base on the contents of the creed, that the governor was going to take into cognizance, some very vital aspects of development that has often been overlooked, which had kept the state down, despite the many investment that has been made in time past. So in the advent of the launched of the philosophy, many creative creators had gone to their creative rooms and created one thing or the other that was going to amplified and deliver on the objective of the philosophy base on their understanding, but of all those creations, none was suitable for the government to adopt, as the shylock government that feels it has the monopoly to corporate governance couldn’t see any reason to work with any of those incremental small scale social organizations with their creation. What the governor and his managers failed to understand as leaders is the simple fact that, often times those ideas may not suits their fantasies, but considering the fact that the approval, adoption and funding of some of those little incremental ideas would have gone a long way in putting food and daily bread on the table of two or three people whom those small scale organizations would have engaged in executing those ideas, people that the government couldn’t employed. And this would have gone a very long way in amelioration the effect of hunger and unemployment in the state. What we are trying to say here is that, being a good and effective father or leader requires selflessness, and having a human face. And the best of ideas that cannot consider humanity is no idea worth consider at all. Governor Udom still has two years left in his tenure to do the right thing and leave a lasting legacy for himself and his children. Unless he does not care.

Crime / Warning To Nigerian Police (why Security Men Are Now Endangered Species In 9ja) by Tonway(m): 1:05pm On Apr 15, 2021
The unlawful and barbaric operational style of the men and women of the Nigerian police force, Ikot Ekpene Area command and Division has reached a crescendo that sane men and women have to lend their voices in condemnation, or else, it won’t be too long when the people would find a way to protect themselves and avenged the unlawful harassment, intimidation and extortion from uniform and arms men of Nigeria in the ancient city of Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. Just recently we have witnessed in Essien Udim, where some citizens took up arms and unconventional means to target security operatives in Akwa Ibom State, and other states of the federation, some events happening barely after the wake of the just concluded #EndSars protest that rocked the entire country. With all these, one would have expected that officers and managers of the police and other security forces would constantly drum it into the ears of their subordinate operatives to refrain from arresting and harassing innocent citizens at will, all in the quest to extorting already impoverished people.

Just this morning I got out of my house and stopped a bike on Old Itu Road, about to go to work. A police van just came out from nowhere and blocked us, almost throwing us into the gutter. I enquired what the matter was, and they responded that they want to search my bag. I demanded if they have a warrant, or if there was any complained about me? One of the four armed police men that rushed out of their van as if they were about to arrest Abubakar Shekau of the Boko Haram or ESN and their outlawed IPOB people went and reported to their boss, whom I believed they were acting on his order. After they realized that I was not going to be an easy push, as the people were beginning to come out and formed clusters, their leader directed them to leave me and the bike man, which they did and left.

You see it is action like this by men of the security forces that is now making them an endangered species in Nigeria. How can the police and other security operatives that are paid to protect the people, now turned to be the chief terrorists and harassers of the people? The police authority must call their people to other, as ongoing happenings in the country would only emboldened the people to take the law into their hands to protect themselves, and avenged their high handedness. The people’s representatives from the Councilors, Chairmen, State House and Federal House members, Senators and even governors should start standing up for the people they are representing. For it is not a crime to be a Nigeria!

Politics / Exposed, The Plot To Disgraced Akpabio Uncovered. by Tonway(m): 12:45pm On Apr 11, 2021
If all the rumours currently going on within the different quarters of the Akwa Ibom State’s Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as we’re hearing is anything to go by, then it is only a matter of time before the pendulum swings against the respected Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and former Senate Minority Leader, His Excellency, Senator, (Dr), Godswil Obot Akpabio, as the “finial finishing and rubbishing”, would have come to play out. According to grapevine whispery, “the Adam Oshomole’s treatment is being plotted against the Minister. And he could come crashing like one time powerful former governor of Edo State and the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adam Oshomole, who was schemed and disgraced out of office as National Chairman of the ruling party, through mere ward suspension, as his home base supporters abandoned him, and passed a vote of no confidence on him last year.

With friends and foes closing ranks within themselves in the various factions of the Akwa Ibom State APC, and a well defined and clearly set out agenda to ridicule and kick Minister Akpabio out of the state’s party’s leadership in place, the die minute saving of the calamity awaiting to happened can only be made possible by a saving grace. As at the time of filing this report, we were reliably informed that trusted allies of the minister, people like former Essiene Udim Council Boss and one time APC controversial Speaker/the former member, representing Essiene Udim State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Nsentuen, former Commissioner of Trade and Investment, Mr. Ibanga Akpabio, former State PDP Vice Chairman, Chief Godswil Afangideh, and others have already deserted and have been captured by opposition within the All Progressive Congress (APC). And having done with that, the league of Defected Councilors and Supervisors (LDCS) are to follow soon.

The Minister is being accused and called out for his divide and rule system, partiality in distributing the little opportunities that is accrued to the party in the state from the federal government, and other sundry charges. Of the mirage of accusations against the minister and the grievances of his followers are; the people are more annoyed of the seemingly neglecting of the grass root and those who out of loyalty, abandoned their comfort zones to support and decamped along with the minster to the APC, when he decamped from his former party, the PDP. Not carrying the people along in the various opportunities that came from the federal government and the NDDC/the Niger Delta Affairs ministry as promised by him (the Minster) when they were consulted to defect along. These opportunities which includes: the LNG training that came with a training grants of N2M, Agricultural training that came with N500, 000, and many other opportunities, including the palliatives from NDDC which they accused the Minister of shutting them out.

With strong financial backing and support from another top politician from same region as the minister, and the plotters being so confidence that they would succeed in their objective, as they begin to implement their arrays of define plots, whether the Minister would weather this storm as he always do, and emerged stronger and still relevant, this we look unto the days ahead to tell. Having succeeded in poaching trusted allies of the minister, the top on the plots is to get the party's political ward of the minister to pass a vote of no confidence on him, which has already been implemented and still ongoing. Next in line is to rally the League of Defected Councilors and Supervisors (LDCS) who out of loyalty to the Minister, defected to the party during the last general election in the state with him. The objective is to pile more pressure through more scandals on the minister after getting them to collectively denounce the minister and also pass a vote of no confidence on him as a way to further diminish his popularity in the State and the region. According to an impeccable source, who revealed that they are stakeholders privy to these plots, they revealed that, though they and their colleagues who constantly meet to review their predicaments and events unfolding in the party they abandoned their comfort zones to joined because of their believe and loyalty to Akpabio, whom they considered as a true leader, they don’t know how long they are going to be able to hold forth, considering the lure and promises that is being made to them by the executioners of the plots, and Akpabio’s continuous neglect and side lining them. Our anonymous source further revealed that, even if they and some of their colleagues want to remained steadfast in their conviction to continue to follow and support the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, their continuous inability to have audience with/access to the Minister and to be carried along in the scheme of things in the Niger Delta Affairs, NDDC and other benefits the party at the centre brings would make it difficult for some of them to resist the lure. Speaking to another Stakeholder, who also craved anonymity, he denied knowledge of any official position taken by the grass root support and others to ridicule the minister, but quick to point out that there would be the urgent need for him and his colleagues to meet soon and come out with a position. He added that the situation in the APC and the approach of the Minister is one that demands a review and meeting with the various support group.
