Chinaimporter: I dnt understand u people.is it that u have coconut water in ur brains or u just have difficulty understanding english language. His Chief press secretary sad that there was no party to mark his birthday. Don't u believe Abati? |
Please kindly So therefore In the Uk there are other phrases said which I don't understand - there is two ways available . . - I done it - Me and Smith are going there . . |
pharuk: Doesn't make sense.. N6.8 Billion Tax?He is a lawyer and has LLM from Havard. Made his initial money during the military when he did a reconciliation of oil companies tax and other obligations to the FG. This is not to exonerate him from the current allegations but to give done background. If the tax regime is significantly tightened a lot of revenue will come to our coffers. The paye reconciliation exercise in various states is an eye opener. |

Advocating corporal punishment in this century? We have a long way to go in this country. Education should not be restricted to children but all those who are ignorant including royalty. |
It is understandable to express sorrow if a deceased is young because it is abnormal for a young person to die. However saying that the deceased is handsome or beautiful appears to be out of place. Is the death of an ugly person preferable to at of a beautiful or handsome one? Is there something I am missing? |
Polio: And in a good manner... when i go up to meet my maker, i want to be intact. This is absolutely unnecessary. What exactly are u trying to achieve? Such a statement is not fair on the family of the deceased. Grow up pls.. |
SegzyJoe: At loretaAre these guys for real. Is the life of a woman worth less than that of a child. She should stay in an abusive relationship because of the child. Are u living in this century. Who says a single woman cannot be live a fulfilled life? It us tjs type of thought process that we should eliminate in nigeria. Marriage is desirable but it is not the beginning and end if life. |
mikeuz: All yur brain could think of is divorce abi?instead of you to think of how to tackle the root causes of these dispicable behaviour of some men. We all must say No to such attitude, make the aWareness far wide until every man in Nigeria know its a crime and wrong. Many women don't even know their rights. U are a woman, enlighten them rather than thinking of divorce, what will divorce stop? You will only see yourself jumping from one marriage to another all in the name of divorce just because you think you know what to do,creating single parents everywhere. this is african not the western world and marriage is a sacred union to us. Before I forget channel all those negative energy to positivity.I hope this is not thr mindset of most nigerian men. After correctly labelling an action despicable you seem to be inferring that divorce is not an option. I beg to disagree. All efforts to escape an abusive relationship should be explored including divorce. Infact I think one of the major challenges of women in abusive relationship is the role of religion. God hates divorce song that is always emphasised. The solution includes raising the self esteem of women, economic/financial emancipation cultural re orientation and severe sanctions for culprits. Maybe we should actually start from human rights and human dignity for all without regard to sex, age, tribe etc. nigeria appears to be a violent country - law enforcement agents physically assaulting civilians, a boss in the office shouting at subordinates sexual harassment of women etc. |
aaidel: from this post you can see that most nigerians are to an extent corrupt some even castigating the man for trying to do the right thing. OP if u cant go and complain to your bank then leave the money where it is and continue to use your account as normal once the bank realizes the mistake they will take back the money.Mba. Most if the respondents did not advise him to spend the money. The advice most gave was to return it. There are more morally upright NLs than otherwise. |
Fussbot: u get wetin in dey try talk abi u no get am?Are u condoning the grammatical bombs the op released. I had to quickly take cover |
belovedaja: Lol. I cant stop laughing. Did she really made those comments. If it is true nigeria education is in trouble. A uniport graduate for that matter. No wonder uniport is unique. . . Did she really 'made' this comment . . .can u pls confirm the uni you graduated from? |
@dbride. You just spoke my mind. We should not be judgemental. |
Airforce1: The bolded z wrong..Your statement should not be made by anyone in 2013. It appears civilisation left you behind zillion of years go. A female child is not subordinate to a male. (Fact) In the developed world discrimination on the basis of gender is a criminal offence. When will we wake up in Nigeria? |
It would appear as if those pointing out to Airforce1 that the couple already have a boy don't get it. His statement is wrong as it puts the female gender below the male whereas they are equal. Hat statement has no place in this century. |
There would always be exceptions to the rule but the answer would depend on the level of education we are talking about and there would be some exceptional public school products. Generally a private school is expected to be better at primary and secondary level. The challenge is that the public schools are in such precarious situation that it has given rise to a number of mushroom private schools that can barely survive. Comparing these low level private schools to public schools would dignify the public schools. The average private school is better than the average public schools and the top 50% private schools are much better than the top 50% public schools. |
@amtheone. Please confirm if u went to a private or public school as your boss' . . daughter could not "wrote" the exam herself . . ' your answer would indicate which one is better |
pacesetter808: It would be good to note as well that poverty is a thing of the mind, not a function of how much you're worth. That they bear the name of the late legal luminary doesn't exonerate them from being poor. With your definition (which I agree with completely) one wonders how many families in naija are not poor. Sad |
alaoeri: Poverty is the root of all evil, had it being his family are well to do, they won't be fighting over his properties.[quote author=alaoeri]The family of late billionaire FRA Williams (SAN) also quarrelled (were in court for a while) over his estate |
@ changes1. All your questions are not applicable. The fact that a person wears suggestive dress dies not justify rape neither does giving somebody money. Are u not ware that Tysin was charged for the rspe of a lady that came to meet him in his hotel room at 1am. We need to understand the definition of rape properly. It is also similar to sexual harassment. The fact that a lady wears a micro mini is no liberty to touch her. We should not behave like animals. The sanction for rspe etc needs to be increased to serve as a deterrent to others |
I had an Igbo boss married to a fellow Igbo who speak Yoruba in their house (in Lagos) |
What the op wrote is very true. The precarious situation of the female is compounded by the cultural practices in some countries like nigeria which not only support the marginalization of women but also stipulates additional dehumanising practices. The Islamic religion is even worse as some Islamic states forbid women even basic rights like travelling alone or even driving. |
The british PM David Cameron was in Russia for the G20 summit last week and was reported to have said that " . . . the decision we had 'took' on Syria . . .". That was obviously a slip but it reminded me of some grammatical "bombs" that Britons throw all over the place viz: - a PA wrote "while you "was" away . . - On match of the day " . . The ball could have "went" in . . " - " . . There "is" two students coming . . I gave some UK students an English class work to use we're, where and were as appropriate in a sentence. I asked them to complete this sentence - where __ you yesterday and one guy's response was: where 'was' you yesterday. Maybe we should be a little less critical of our countrymen who throw grammatical bombs all over the place. |
Catholics worship Mary as a Saint. Pentecostals give the impression that Mary was almost sub human; the correct position is probably in between. |
I believe that ladies need to realise that it is desirable to get married but it is not the end of the world if you don't. You can live a very productive and fulfilling life without bring married. The nigerian culture does not help as a single lady is regarded as incomplete even by the family. We need to inculcate self confidence and self belief in our ladies. The pressure f marriage sometimes pushes our ladies to settle for 'second best'. There are many ladies all over the world (especially the developed' world who are unmarried by choice and are happy. This shoud not be misconstrued as advocating the marriage is not good. |
Those who are blasting the First Lady on her grammar, charity should begin at 'oshodi' (Nairaland). Somebody wrote that ' if she had really GAVE her time . . .' Softly softly . . . |
@OP. You have made your point. You need to be more tolerant to views which are contrary to yours. The simple fact is that this is an argument that would be difficult to win one way or the other. There are pros and cons in arguments from both sides as one's existing status would influence which side one will support. By the way I believe the guy who said he has PR from three countries. I don't know him personally but his presentation would seem to support his statement. One of my children has 3 passports - US, UK and Nigeria. Peace |
Dubemkelly: Seriously,R u high on lipton? Dubemkelly: Seriously,R u high on lipton? Dubemkelly: Seriously,R u high on lipton?Votes are counted by countries. There areb15 country votes in all. Nigeria had one vote which went to Melvin. Melvin had two votes (nigeria and 'rest of Africa.) Dillish had 5 country votes and Cleo had 4. Bev had 1 country vote (Ethiopia). So Nigeria did not split her votes between Melvin and Bev. And for the Bev haters, the couples in BBA The Chase met at the finale and they all contained from where they stopped including Bev and her guy. Thebguybalso confirmed that they DID NOT have see in the house. Even if they did they are both adults and free spirited. In respect of thr nudity in the showers, this edition ofvBBA appears to have had d greatest no of exhibitionists. Of the original 14 ladies in the house, 10 had fully nude bath at one point or the other. Only 2 had their bath in swim suit - Kotetcho and Matama. Dillish exposed her boobs throughout as she had her bath in her underwear. It is an adult entertainment show with restricted access . Lot them be. |
