Why is Yoruba men running. Away from their women

I once met a yoruba lady at a store here in the U.S she looked so masculine and had prominent jaws and was cock-eyed too. (People has always told me that I am beautiful. I'm not boasting about it because I didn't create myself the way I am, and I also happen to be Igbo) You know what this lady told me? She said I looked yoruba and that she looked Igbo! can you believe that? The funny thing is that most Igbos I have met look more like me. I bursted out laughing when she said that because it made no sense to me that she assumed Igbo girl SHOULD look less beautiful than yoruba girls to the extent of telling me she was supposed to be Igbo while I should be yoruba. in a lot of cases that I have witnessed, it has been the other way round.

Igbo ladies have been wining all beauty peagents in Nigeria even miss world was once an Igbo lady called oluchi

I think most Yoruba ladies have this omo alata attitude and can be mouthy above all most are not my type. . they are too dark those that manage to be fair either bleached or have Igbo parents

While the general elections approached, I was really excited about the inexplicable disappearance of the sickening tribal arguments and insults between the Yorubas and Igbos which was a previous tradition on this forum. Everyone seemed to have pitched their tent with either the PDP or APC and while it lasted, we enjoyed a season free of the sickening tribal slurs. I always prayed we wouldn't go back to that horrible tradition but unfortunately, it seems we couldn't even wait for the elections to be over.

The Igbos restarted by accusing the Yorubas of betrayal for teaming/conspiring with the Hausas to unseat their GEJ. This to me was a baseless accusation because there was never any agreement between both tribes to support GEJ. The Yorubas reserve a right to vote or support whoever they want; in 2011, they gave GEJ over 90% of their votes (even though they had their kinsman as his vice then). In 2015, probably due to GEJ's less than stellar performance, majority Yorubas (57%) shifted their support to GMB (even though 43% of the SW still stuck with and supported GEJ). I do not understand why this is regarded as betrayal leading to hostilities especially as no agreement was even signed between both tribes.

Then probably in response to the anger and accusations of the Igbos, the Yoruba Oba of Lagos made a misguided, inciting and insulting threat against the Igbos; a careless statement which may cost APC the Lagos state governorship and further fuel hatred between both tribes. Also, the recent misguided statement by Kunle Afolayan, a respected movie producer accusing and openly insulting Igbos of piracy has also not helped matters as it has just poured more fuel into a raging flame.

Now we seem to have been sunk back into an even deeper lagoon of hatred; the next dispensation of tribal battles on Nairaland could be really messy. How can this senseless battle be averted?

Sir, the loyal ones are a fraction of their population, merely significant. When i was younger, i almost got the beating of my life because my Yoruba friend who started a fight ran away from battle and left me there with a group of boys. As a young man, you don't know how demoralized i felt when i saw my friend who i was supposedly fighting for racing to safety leaving me behind to clean his mess.

Surprisingly, i did not see it as a tribal thing then because i was too young to understand. It was when i grew older that i started seeing the truth about Yoruba treachery. The funny thing is, when i asked him why he ran away from his own fight, he said "i go call boys" but i did not see him with any boys when i came back. If i had died there, trust him to be the one to tell stories of how "WE" fought together and how i was his best friend ever.

Sir, Yorubas don't teach their children loyalty. They're after their stomach first, then loyalty comes a distant last. The worse is that they see treachery as an act of being smart which makes it even more sickening. When you look at Yoruba history from Afonja, Awolowo, Akintola, to the recent times, Tinubu, Obasanjo and FFK, you'll see a parallel with Yorubas and their treacherous tendency. A Yoruba man's loyalty cannot be assured, you can take that to the bank.

I am in support of what you said my friend, everyone i have known with a disloyal tendency turns out to be Yorubas. I'm a business man who deals with customs often, i have interacted with many custom officers but i have never seen any as treacherous as the Yorubas. You cut a deal with a team and the Yoruba man goes behind his team to ask you for his personal deal, mostly to outwit his colleagues and get some extra money. It is funny but i always cut the deal with the Yoruba man cos it benefits me but i can never trust or work with a Yoruba man.

Call me a tribalist all you want but the truth still stands. A typical Yoruba man at his work place is not loyal, he's greedy, envious, hate filled and treacherous.
