Goodluck! Goodluck!! Goodluck!!! |
By SONI DANIEL ABUJA— As the controversy over the planned introduction of ₦5000 note deepens, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmaker, Senator Ita Enang, has accused the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi of plotting the fall of President Goodluck Jonathan with the ignoble plan. Many Nigerians have kicked against the move by the CBN to issue the new note on the grounds that it would induce inflation and worsen the nation’s fragile economy but the bank is adamant over the issue. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Vanguard, Enang, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Business and Rules, described the arguments in favour of the new note as pedestrian and lacking in intellectual depth. According to him, the plan amounts to a direct devaluation of the Naira in response to the demands of the World Bank and an effort on the path of those the bank had seconded to Nigeria in the name of employment to fulfill its mandate. He also said apart from being at variance with the cashless policy of the CBN and the Money Laundering Act, the planned introduction of the higher currency would add no real value to the Naira or its purchasing power. “I pray Mr. President should be sensitive to this and take action against the move because I am certain the plan is intended to embarrass the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to make the government of Goodluck Jonathan unpopular in years to come so that people will not like to vote for him in the next election. “I think what Sanusi is aiming at with the introduction of the plan against Nigerians is to ensure that the people will be so unhappy with the President that in the next election they would not like to vote for him. “Mr. President should therefore call the CBN governor to order with immediate effect,” the lawmaker stated. Enang also warned the 19 Northern governors of the consequences of their agitation for a review of the controversial onshore/offshore dichotomy, which was laid to rest eight years ago. Northern Governors Forum had last week called for a review of the oil dichotomy to make more revenue available to the Federation Account for onward sharing to all the states. They argued that it was wrong to pay revenue accruing to the country from offshore proceeds to the nine littoral states. He noted that the renewed attempt by the governors for a review of the law constituted a treasonable offence. The lawmaker said, “The protagonists of the review should be ready for the consequences of their action. They should know that any action in that regard would trigger another round of crisis in the oil sector and possibly reduce production from the present 2.7 million barrels per day to 700 barrels per day. “But above all, whoever is championing the call for the abrogation of the oil dichotomy law, which we passed into law many years ago, should know that it is a treasonable offence. “I am saying so because treason is any act committed against the interest of the state,” Enang said. The lawmaker, who represents Uyo Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, berated northern states for allowing their solid minerals to be illegally exploited and the resources kept away by known persons while turning round to share in the oil proceeds from the South. The lawmaker said equity demands that all parts of the country should contribute something to the Federation Account for sharing by the Revenue Mobilisation, Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, instead of some states behaving as parasites. Enang absolved former President Obasanjo of any complicity in the onshore/offshore debacle, saying that it was the National Assembly that passed the bill into law after the Supreme Court had given its verdict on the matter. www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/n5000-note-sanusi-plotting-jonathans-fall-in-next-election-enang/ |

Ricky_Ross: Pls let no one be deceived, this Onitsha port is not worth 4.6 Billion Naira. I was too excited when i read about this port on the internet, but just few days ago I passed through the river Niger on my way to Asaba and i cant believe this small warehouse is the so called port? Why cant they give us a port as big as the one in Lagos? This is a warehouse to me and not a port, the place is just too small. I took pics of the so called sea port from river niger but am too ashamed to post it here.pls kindly post the picture of the port. |

The Chairman, Bayelsa and Rivers Shippers Association, Mr Offon Udofia, on Monday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for inaugurating the River Niger Port in Anambra. Udofia, who made this known in Port Harcourt, said the president was a development oriented leader. He scored the president high in the area of infrastructure development and called on Nigerians to support him to actualise his transformation agenda. ‘’In spite of Boko Haram insurgency and other distractions, the president is still making progress in the total transformation of Nigeria. ‘’From my opinion, he is a man of vision with better programmes for the country, which needs the support of all Nigerians. ‘’Success in administration is not a one way thing, it requires the collective effort of everybody in the country,’’ he said. He described the president as a great achiever, having commissioned the port which had been long overdue and of immense benefit to Nigerians. ‘’The port would now reduce accidents along Onitsha/Lagos road, being caused by trailers conveying goods from Lagos ports to Onitsha. ‘’Decongestion of traffic is another advantage, with the Niger port in operation, Lagos/Onitsha road would be less busy with heavy duty trucks,’’ he said.(NAN) www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/onitsha-port-shippers-association-commends-jonathan/ |

An Edo man invited his friends for his mother's burial, after lowering the coffin, they put yam, rice, meat etc, into the grave. An Hausa man asked why? The Edo man smiled & said, "According to our tradition, the dead go on a long journey & need all the food items they can get". The Hausa man dropped N100,000 inside and said, "When the food finish, buy more". A Yoruba man also dropped N50,000 and said, add this in case it is not enough. An Igbo man who was present at that time smiled, brought out his cheque book and wrote a cheque of N200,000. He dropped it in the coffin and took the N150,000 notes as change, then said, "Nwanne, withdraw when you reach dia o...it is going to be a dangerous journey, we don’t know how many robbers are out there and no one will be there to save you so just manage the check" Igbo kwenu! |

IBB is aware of the implications of GEJ resigning. Nigeria will seize to exist as a nation and he cant afford to see Nigeria divided becos he is among those Northern elites that owns about 70% Niger Delta oil wells. |
A guy stayed close to the cemetery. He used this to outwit okada riders and taxi drivers. He would simply alight at the cemetery junction, with his nostrils filled with cotton wool and spoke nasally. This scared every driver and rider who wouldn't dare ask him for money. The guy did this for years and successfully outwitted every driver and rider, who were thinking he was a ghost. One sunday evening, the guy boarded an okada as usual alighted at the cemetery junction. My Money?. the angry looking okada man asked. Cotton wool were inside the guy's nostrils, he replied nasally; I don't have money!. The okada man would not take this from him, he kept insisting. The frustrated guy, later said; Ok, ok, follow me to my room in the cemetery and I will pay you. The okada man agreed and followed him till they got to a grave. The guy in his attempts to frighten the okada man knocked on the grave and shouted; Martin! Martin! Martin! abeg give me N800 make i take pay this stubborn okada man. All of a sudden, a very big hand holding N1000 appeared out of the grave accompanied with a voice which said; "Take! this one na ma last card. The guy himself and the okada man took to their heels! Lol! |

There is a Muslim passenger in a Jamaican taxi. He asks the driver to turn off the radio and explains that he must not hear music as decreed by his religion for in the time of the prophet Muhammad, there was no music ... no radio The driver turns off the radio, stops the car, leans over and opens the back door, The Muslim asks him : "What are you doing?" The driver replied : "In di time of di prophet there were no taxis, so come outta my bumboclaat taxi and wait for a camel ." |

chino11: We are not the same people.Which people are you refering as we? Am an Anambrarian and i doubt if you are an Igbo let alone being Anambrarian. Am sure you are insane, just like someone said you are really another version of Musiwa just that Musiwa is better than you because he is always thinking on how to unify S.west region unlike you that is always dividing Easterners. Igbos are one. There is nothing like Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Delta-Igbos or Rivers-Igbos before the advent of colonial masters. All these states were created for political reasons.
