BARELY 24 hours after the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Folunsho Adebanjo, met with party leaders in the state on the need to have a peaceful Local Government election come April 20, two persons including 80 year- old man, were shot dead while several cars and houses including that of the Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria in Etsako Central Local Government Council, Mr Paul Osugbo were set ablaze during a clash between ACN youths and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Council of Edo state. Over ten persons were said to have sustained serious injuries during the series of attacks that took place Wednesday midnight in Fugar the home town of the former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe and the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadohme. Soludo might be a good candidate but he can't win Anambra under PDP. Watch out for Ifeanyi Patrick Uba(owner of Capital Oil), he is now selling Kerosene at subsidized rate of ₦50 per litre from one town to another. I think he is going to be our next governor under APGA! The man get mouth for Anambra! |
kaeto: The APC is a mockery, a hallucination and non existent group of radical partying drunken muslims from the sw and core north. They talk about protest, when it will actually cost the PDP nothing to rally round 10times the protesters that APC can boast of. What they do is mouth politics, talking from lagos, from katsina, borno and many other caves by sahara reporters. Every reasonable man should be able to spot a failure when he sees one. And I can confidently tell you that Apc is a roudy lousy failure who has lost every battle before them, big dreaming FAILURES!These APC members ain't smart enough! Why didn't they register their party after the merging? What were they waiting for? These are the questions i kept on asking. Now other guys with d same name have approached INEC for registration and INEC don't have the right not to grant their request. This is politics and politics is full of games, whether this new APC is PDP guys or not the fact is that PDP is ready to outsmart APC! They are only good at shouting in the pages of newspaper, i see them as failures! |

Dear friends, I want to seize this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance. I feel the pains of Nigerians and that is why this yuletide period I have personally instructed that our roads should be worked on to enable you and your loved ones travel safely for the holidays knowing that this season brings with it the highest volume of traveler traffic of the year. This administration also made sure that most of our airports received a facelift with the terminals rehabilitated and the runways upgraded. Not done, we ensured that for the first time indecades, the cross country services (Lagos to Kano with stops in cities along the route) of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) were revived just prior to the holidays to provide Nigerian masses with an inexpensive alternative to road and air transportation. Nigerians traveled on these coaches which took them from Lagos to Kano beginning on Friday the 21st of December, 2012 at a very affordable rate of 1,500 Naira, with stops at many cities along the route. This administration also took steps to increase power generation by remaining trueto the Timelines of the Roadmap to Power Sector Reforms which has seen history made on Friday the 21st of December 2012, when Nigeria’s power generation hit an all time high of just over 4,500 MW which I know is still not good enough, but which neverthelessis an improvement of what we met on ground to the end that as many Nigerians as possible can celebrate the holidays with power in our homes and communities. I reaffirm to you that, God willing, Nigeria will witness a better year in the coming year. Once again, on behalf of my family and I and the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, wishesevery Nigerian a very Merry Christmas and a most prosperous and Happy New Year. By GBENGA OLARINOYE OSOGBO — Osun State government and its workforce are set for a show-down following the alleged introduction of a new tax regime by the government, which workers have vowed to resist. Workers in the employment of the state government have also condemned the employment of a consultancy firm, CHAMSPlc allegedly employed by the state government for electronic payment of salaries. In a letter dated 17th December, 2012 addressed to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, the workers under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, called on the state government to urgently reduce the tax regime. They said any attempt to force workers to pay any form of tax arrears will be seen as direct attack on the workers. The letter which was signed by the chairman and secretary of Joint Public Service Negotiation Coincil I, II & III, also rejected the resolve of the state government to use consultancy firm for salary automation payroll both for serving and retired public officers. Comrade Bayo Adejumo amd Comrade Akinyemi Olatunji signed for Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), Comrade O. F. Adetunji and Comrade Kayode Adepoju for TUC and Comrade Saka Adesiyan and Comrade G. A. Bolarinwa endorsed the letter on behalf of NLC. The labour unions also described the contributory pension sheme introduced by the state government as a ruse, saying that since the inception of their participation in the scheme, the generality of workers are yet to receive any alert as regards both personal and government contributions. But in a swift reaction, the state Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Wale Bolorundurodebunked plan by the government to hike tax in the state, saying that tax is a federal legislation and that no state in the federation has the power to legislateon it. He said: “We don’t have any tax regime that is different from the Federal Government according to the constitution of Nigeria.” On the automation salary pay roll, Dr. Bolorunduro said that “the state government introduced it in order to reduce processing period and minimize human interference as well. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/12/aregbesola-workers-on-collision-course-over-new-taxes/ |
