babecode: A Nigerian man, Anthony Oluseye Akinyemi, in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in Maryland, died Saturday morning.
The 56-year-old man died early Saturday morning after officials at the Worcester County Jail in Snow Hill found him unresponsive in his cell. .
The agency said the preliminary cause of death appeared to be self-inflicted strangulation.
ICE said Akinyemi had been in their custody for less than 24 hours and was in removal proceedings for failing to abide by the terms of his December 2017 non-immigrant visa.
He was convicted last week in Baltimore City circuit court for a sex offense and assault of a minor in Baltimore. Akinyemi is at least the eighth person to die in ICE custody in 2019.
ayodelej: Recent media statement of Alhaji Kunle Poly on the current crisis in Lagos Island vis-à-vis: idumota, eyin eyo, agarawu etc to mention few and attributing it to the state chairman of NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS (NURTW) Lagos chapter Alhaji Akinsanya Musiliu (M.C OLUOMO) isn’t only petty, childish, oppressive but also derogatory and above all a character assassination on the part of the state chairman. The character of Kunle Poly in the past and present is synonymous to evil for those who have had encounters with the dare-devil and It is not new or strange to read such ridiculous and irrational statement from Kunle poly as this has long be expected not only from him but also other anti-progressive and bad eggs within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who are on the verge of causing chaos in the union.
Setting the record straight, and history must not be swept underground. The issue of 19 units and 7 units as mentioned by Kunle Poly is arithmetical and, ‘WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS ALSO GOOD FOR THE GANDER’ and what he realizes every day in the units he mentioned in his press should be revealed by him to the world, the illegal tax and tokens he collect from the masses in lagos island which resulted into the crisis should also be made known to the world. The other units were shared among other rivalry groups so as to minimize the crisis in lagos island. Kunle poly didn’t tell Nigerians his role of fueling the Lagos island crisis before jetting out of Lagos so as not to be seen as an actor in the game.
ARTICLE 42 SECTION 4 SUBSECTION VIII openly nullified Kunle poly from being a branch chairman because he had served more than two terms in the office which is totally an aberration to the sacrosanct constitution of NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS but pleadings against witch hunting and calls for reconciliation from various quarters was a factor in re-electing Kunle poly into one of the branches mentioned in his press and also to accommodate some of the warring factions into other branches so as to give space for peace and harmony in Lagos island.
Nigerians shouldn’t be bamboozled by Kunle poly’s sentiments of buying peoples sympathy, where there is none as this is more of political gimmicks to tarnish the image and personality of Alhaji Akinsanya Musiliu (M.C Oluomo). So many assassination attempts and attacks were launched in 2019 which nearly cost the life of M.C Oluomo by Kunle Poly and his gangs of thugs but after the emergence of MC OLUOMO, there was never in any way a reprisal attack whatsoever but instead they were all incorporated in the affairs and administration of NURTW lagos chapter which a man of conscience and dignity would have done.
there were series of attacks on the state chairman (MC OLUOMO) by Kunle Poly during Agbede led administration which nearly cost the life of M.C Oluomo but that was set aside during the inauguration of new executives in which Kunle poly was returned as a branch chairman in Lagos Island despite having completed 3 terms as a branch chairman which is even a violation to the convention and constitution of the national union as you are only entitled to hold chairmanship post for two terms.
The progress of the national union is the utmost priority of Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya and unnecessary digression from this will be seen as petty as said earlier. The unity remains certain and the bad eggs won’t be allowed to cause disunity irrespective of there status in the union.
I don't blame these guys for behaving how they do. They work for the government. Government thugs. The government and people in politics let them do all this evil with impunity
Funnyandviral: Video of a man is trending on the internet, after he was publicly disgraced by a prostitute he slept with. He was seen with the aggrieved who seized his footwear afterwards.
lucrocash: 1 of 2 things are wrong with you. It's either you cant read and that's why you cant see the part of "after payment". Secondly, there is a possibility you are among the loan fraudsters and if that's the case, you wont go unpunished. at all at all, the conclussion is that you don't have sense, cos if you do, u would try to investigate the said company.
broke mumu go and pay your debt. If you don't have money become a bus conductor lol
I saw his video on youtube, he was teaching about google admob, and told people to talk to him on watsapp for source code, in-shot, he scammed me 10k just now, I saw your post when I'm searching for his name online, I don't even know what to do, I'm currently broke and I even borrow 2k to pay him, I'm doing everything to hold tears
omolola100: I don't know if this is the right section to post this message.. My mum travelled down to Offa in kwara state to check on my brother who took ill, and on her way coming back, on getting to Omu Aran ,she was kidnapped with three other passengers, I don't know the tribe but their voice sounds like that of Fulani people, right now I'm not comfortable as they demanded to get the sum of 500,000 each before releasing them, I don't know the situation my mum will be right now as she is the only one we have since we lost of our father.. I'm just a private school teacher and I earn little, I have been running around since yesterday and has contacted people that could help us, we are only to raise little money , and I don't know what will happen to my mother.. We also contacted the nearest police station to inform them of what happened, but they couldn't locate the culprit..
I really need help right now and I haven't been myself since this incident happened... They have been calling me with unknown numbers saying words of threat..
NaijaRoyalty: A micro loan company has been accused of declaring defaulters dead, designing and circulating the obituaries of such persons to family and friends.
A customer, Azuwuike Chinedu Achiever recently shared his experience with the loan company on social media.
He said he had defaulted in his repayment plan for five days and the next thing he saw was his obituary.
On a public group on Facebook, another customer of a loan app, Victoria Eyo Ekpo revealed she was also a victim and vowed not to repay the loan.
She said, “This is what Deloan (app) sent to me oooo. I will never pay. They called my mum and insulted her. May God help us.” (sic).
Ekpo added that she borrowed the sum of N15,000.
When PUNCH Online spoke with one of the contact persons of Deloans, who the Truecaller app identified as ‘Scammer,’ he denied ever doing that.
The contact person, who simply identified himself as Somto “How can I do something like that? Am I not a human being?”
Pressed further, he said he doesn’t have the authority to speak on the matter and that our reporter would need to speak to his bosses before abruptly ending the call.
Further calls to his line went unanswered.
Meanwhile, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Babatunde Irukera, has said that the regulators in the financial system are collaborating to address what is fast becoming a dominant and abusive practice targeting some of the most vulnerable in the society.
Irukera said, “In November (2021), the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission hosted a meeting attended by the chief executive officer of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, and representatives of the National Information Technology Development Agency and the Central Bank of Nigeria; in leading an effort to address multiple potentially dubious conduct of certain money lenders, otherwise known as loan sharks.
“Continuing complaints about questionable repayment enforcement practices including public shaming and violations of privacy, arbitrary, unjust, unreasonable, or exploitative interest rates and or loan balances calculations, harassment, and failure of consumer feedback mechanisms among others have led to significant and understandable consumer aggravation and dissatisfaction.”
its greed to collect money you can't pay back. Its even wickedness. These loan companies have things to run and when 60 of you don't pay back they go into debt. You people go to loan companies because the banks you even bank with won't give you a loan. If you can't pay don't collect. If you are broke please go and sweep the streets for money or go and do bus conductor work
general111: I used to be a very good customer of one of them, not until i defaulted for two days. I had reached out to them to tell them that things were not going well, only for me to start receiving threats oh. They even called me a fraudster.. Well i paid them the loan, but i refused to pay them the extra charges. They are calling me to them the extra charges, i just ignored them.. I will pay them, but make i stress them small.
you broke people know how to collect loans above your means but can't pay back. Its always easy and sweet to collect but when you don't pay back its hard and bitter for the companies involved. If 50 nigerians take loans and don't pay these companies will run into debt. If you don't have money go do conductor and stop punching above your weight
Dididrumz: I really don't understand why Nigerian military is so quick at assaulting civilians. They are not friendly at all. Is it just because of the power of a uniform?
There was a day I saw one very young and good looking lady on army uniform, so I thought I should say hello and start a conversation. Immediately I said hello, what I heard from her was " do I look like your mate?" With a stone looking face. We later met somewhere else and she had found out I was way older and was trying to apologise but then, I already wasn't interested anymore.
You'll only see the full rage of Nigerian military when they are descending on innocent civilians. That's so wrong.
You didn't later meet anywhere and she didn't try to apologise. Forming u wasn't interested anymore. You went to talk to her because he looked good and prick dey scratch u. She insulted u well. She should have assaulted u too as prick dey scratch u

LoriIro1: Good morning Nairalanders and happy new year to all.
Please I need help on how to end this plague called pimples, I don't know the cause of it, I've tried many cream or soap since 2017 and it's not going, instead it's keep coming back. once these guys buy iphone or hair for you they feel they own you so if you look at another man them ah fi cut you you are body and distribute it to wild pigs
Crenzywilliams: I thought these loan companies usually do a picture confirmation to know if it's the same person with the bvn that's initiating the loan. I also know that no loan companies will loan you such an amount as a first time borrower (well unless they have changed since I left 9ja). I thought they usually start with small loans like 5k or 3k, if you're able to pay back in time, they increases ur credit rating. If u've been borrowing before, then they didn't use ur bvn to open the loan accounts man, and in that case the loan company will also need a live picture from them for confirmation. Besides if it wasn't ur first time receiving money from them the money should go straight to your bank account, no loan company will use ur bvn and then send the money to an account with another name, and if it's to your account, how did the thieves get ur transfer codes,...dude, what's the real story man?
this person is telling lies so as not to pay the loan. No loan company gives 57k for someone applying for the first time. They only increase the loan amount over time. I don't know why this person is coming up with these lies but oh well. They take loans they can't pay back then come to nairaland to make false stories
SafeNigeria: Another crisis is looming in ikorodu if not averted immediately, the oil bunkry activities that caused many people's life in ishawo, igbo-olomu, imagbon axis in recent years if not for the intervention of federal government as started again. This is the only means I believe I can talk to the authority because the matter can't be report to the military or the police because they are both involve in the illegal activities .The oil bunkry has started again while they carry this activity with the help of the Nigeria military that was supposed to protect the pipeline and the community. If you want to know about this ,try to come to a community called pakisha where there's high number of hoodlums.people are now selling the petrol in jerican and kegs on the street,I would have love to call the CDA chairmen to order but some of them are involve in the illegal business..please help us reach out to the authority to help us out not to experience another lost of life and property, this matter has been reported to IGP Special Tactical ayetoro under the command of Superintendent Toyin Omosebi but nothing has been done has we later discovered there involvement in the illegal vandalization business.
lucrocash: The greatest fraudulent loan app in Nigeria is Haloocredit, owned by HalooDigitals Nigeria Limited. Once you collect loan from the app, they will make sure you are unable to pay on due date and start calling you to make transfer to their account. After payment, your loan wont be cleared and you will be debited several times without end. Also, if you dont keep funds in the account, they will start blackmailing you, sending unsolicited messages to your contacts telling them you owe them just to scare you to keep paying them. These guys should be investigated and arrested by efcc. Nigeria is hard enough, these guys shouldn't be allowed to exist. Funny thing, they dont have address, no phone number, no social media account, nothing. They are worse than devil. See the reviews on different app downloading sites to see the different bad experiences people have with them on playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ng.haloocredit&hl=en and on appannie https://www.appannie.com/en/apps/google-play/app/com.ng.haloocredit/#:~:text=This%20is%20the%20worst%20credit,I%20didn't%20warn%20you.&text=This%20is%20the%20worst%20app%20ever. These fraudsters should be arrested with immediate effect. Anyone with their address or details of persons behind the business. The address they dropped with corporate affairs commission seems fake. Also, those that keep calling you to make payments use same number, voice but different names.
nobody forces you to take loan. You take loan and after enjoying the money you don't want to keep to the terms stated before you took the loan. You nigerians are greedy. If the terms of the loans are to stringent don't take it and shut up
Chiadi87: This guy is a scammer, he is on tiktok (samuelkingtipster), whatsup (09079080625) and telegram. He claim to be giving fixed matches ranging from 80-140odds at #50,000, and when the person pays he will block your line from reaching him.
the greedy fools who fall for these type of obvious scams also need to post their own pics so we see the face of those that have decided to be so foolish LOL
