If the pain returns despite the medications, I suspect the medicine you were given was for pain control. But the pain returns bc the underlying pathology causing the pain is not yet treated. Without redness, tearing, discharge, itchiness or visual disorder etc I doubt it may be a serious disorder. BUT you never know. Is the left eye ok?

I suggest you go to the hospital and see a doctor. If possible see an ophthalmologist. ASAP! At least let him/her confirm that it's nothing serious.
