3-5years!!! I laugh in French. Nigeria is the worse mistake in 1914. The ogas @d top should categorically state the duration of the strike so that Nigeria students should start applying for Ghana visa. |
Wow. I av never held my breath while reading a comment on nl from beginning to end. Hmmmmmmmmm u just broke a nl record. Keep it coming bro |
Does it mean i wouldn't get @least 1dose of my intriguing story-tonic b4 i sleep? That will mean violating doctor's directive |
Wow!!! Sexcapade, drugs, blackmail, action, on-the-run, intelligence, perfect narrative skill, simple choice of grammar, frequent update.............. Am loving it. |

sexymoma: number can only be given if you are attractive....attractive @the pocket u mean? Then u just dialed my number. I av the capacity to take u round dollarland, its not a mistake we met in nairaland. Allow my heart to be ur wonderland. |
*praying*8-) pls God, Spain should not win us with more than two goals margin. We don't want more disgrace than wat happened in Namibia. I would av prayed that SE should win the game against Spain, but ur word says that faith can move mountain not sun. O'lord we know that the NFF don't av money to pay if the SE wins or draw tahiti, and this would be more disgraceful than losing. In that case let them lose by just one goal margin. Finally Lord, any nairalander that will insult me for praying, let NEPA take his/her light and his/her generator spoil anytime the SE is playing. |
femzybiz: Thank God for the arrival, but They need to doits Tahiti not Haiti. These are two different countries. I also made the same mistake @1st. Thank God for this tournament, if not for anything, it has added to my knowledge of geography. |
It's amazing to know that lot of ui alumni are also niaralanders, little wonder the ui admission thread is catching fire. Its also amazing to know one more positive effect of fire: it ignite reunion of uites, especially when the fire affects ui. Speaking with IFA's voice *set trenchard hall on fire to bring former uites together* .On a serious note, i think we need a thread on NL where we can share our experiences as once a student of great ui. Reading all ur comments was able to release the tears from the prison of my eye latches, it makes me feel proud to be associated with ui. Greatest uites, techites, zikites. Incumbent B23ite. |
Which block got burnt? |
Is that how the movie ended? This should be from bollywood. I trust nollywood to end it with "TO GOD BE THE GLORY" |
If not for ur user name, i would have argued that the person who posted the original post (op) is the same person that replied my earlier coment. I also had ND and HND in mechanical engineering from the federal polytechnic offa, b4 going to the university of ibadan, the same department. So i can still talk about the differences. As an engineer, i evaluate the output base on the input. "To whom much is given, much is expected". I happen to attend one of the best uni in Nigeria, so i think i am at a very good point of view to analyse this issue. Can u compare Nigeria universities with foreign universities with the same measuring device in which u use in comparing it with the polytechnic?. Of course small fish in big river will have no problem of being noticed in the stream. Polytechnics are at disadvantage to the universities in every ramification, the original intention as been forfeited. My only problem is why should they have to spend a minimum of 5 solid years whereas uni spend a minimum of four. With all the discriminations and inadequate funding, polytechnic can still hold her head above waters. Give it to them my brother. Don't just see what they are not giving, u should also see what they are not getting. |
What u just succeeded in doing is to rubbish the certificates that are obtained from polytechnics, the holders of such certificates and the lecturers. Did u say u finished from a polytechnic? Then u must be a bad ambassador. Yes, u manage to go to the university with the same "useless" certificate u got from poly, why should it be u that will broadcast that HND and OND certificates are "toilet papers" did u say u are sorry? After u have naked her in the public and all u can say is u are sorry? Try something else. U also claimed not to be perfect and u av the guts to discriminate? For the sake of those that went to the polytechnic, some one like u must not be Nigeria's president. |
What do u want to be in the next five years assuming u av all the connection and money u need?. The answer to that question is what u should go for irrespective of what others think or what u think are obstacles. |
Ezegozie: I wont blame you because that was what you were told and you hypothetically believed.I understand ur predicament. I wanted to react, but seeing the school u attended, I decided to reserve my comment rather than comment my reserve. |
bealuv: hey take it easy on urself and odaz ....i am currently a student n i can tel yhu dat UI zoological garden has lions...since i dont talk much....daz all 4nowI was @d zoo last Saturday, i counted not less than 8lions and lioness. Hi bealuv, remember me? A fellow uite-nairalander |

Temismith: Wait o, wat if dey are making love and d new constructed pernise breaks or d vargaina tear nko?u badt gan ![]() |
I happen to be one of the victims caught in the unfortunate web of HND. I started from pre-ND (double slap, u may call it), I climbed the ladder of all the classes in the polytechnic system within a space of 6years. I graduated with a whooping distinction, went for NYSC. And later went to the uni to begin from 300L. 10years in all. Pls avoid the polytechnic if you could, it's the definition of waste of time, effort and money. Unless u want to live a discriminated life all through ur life. Remember, its one life! Get the best. |
If na so every body wen no pass dey burn their department, school no far dey naija again |
Osumare2013: None. Stop comparing schools for christ sake. What do u stand to gain? UI is a good sch and OAU is okay too. It's just like comparin iphones to samsung galaxy. It all depends on ur taste.are u sure? I mean, are u sure u are sure of what u wrote? Are u sure iphone and samsung galaxy can not be compared? With the fact that they both perform the same function gives u more bases to compare them. Comparism for phones can be along the line of functionality, durability, affordability etc and a reasonable conclusion can be drawn. Universities can be compared sir, I beg to disagree with u. Back to the question no doubt, both schools command respect @least in Nigeria, but as my warri grand mother will always say "if u put two things down, u go choose one". But for the fact that I'm a uite, my opinion might be questioned or predicted. Be it as it may, UI will be considered better by me. The reason being that, aside aving more qualify faculties, ui has more transparent admission and recruitment policies(source: comprehensive personal survey by me). |
I started having innocent online friends since 2003 via yahoo messenger. Mostly foreign friends. One faithful(unfaithful) day in the year 2006, right back in school. I went to a friend's house to charge my phone, i happen to meet him and his roommate watching a movie, trust me, being a movie freak as I was then, I joined them and the movie ran to the late hours of the night and I had to pass the night there. Around 3:50am, my phone rang, after pressing the ok button of my phone and placing my phone's ear piece to the direction of my ear, the next second, I was hearing the best voice i had ever heard come from a phone ear piece. This got me startled and drove sleep away from me at a velocity equivalent to that of light. "hello femi, this is romoke" (not real name) the voice from the phone's ear piece said. Knowing that my name was not femi and not wanting gorgeous voice (romoke, I mean) to end the call my brain started a quick scan on my data base of faltering on what to say to keep gorgeous voice (rookie, i mean) on the phone. With the most soothing voice which i barely recognized i said to her "this is not femi, but hold on, Your gorgeous voice can turn anyone to femi without his consent" I hear her laugh at the other end of the line, that made my ear tinkle and my mind reassured. "my name is Daniel, but u can call me femi for today" I told her and that was enough to earn me another round of gorgeous laughter which sent my senses to the outer space and back in a twinkle of an eye. Being a master 'falterer' as I was and still am, I continued... "special voice like this is usually preserve for Angels, so which part of heaven do u reside?" I kept on earning more gorgeous laugh which is equivalent to job well done in the school of faltering and womanology. "I leave in festac" gorgeous voice said. "with your parents?" i asked. "yes" she replied. "no wonder I'm perceiving the aroma of a well prepared delicacy through my phone's ear piece, that must be mummy's hand work" I tease, all I could get was laughter upon laughter and that was a good sign by my standard. "It's almost 4:30" gorgeous voice reminded me. "oh! How time flies when you are discussing with an angel" i said. "can I call you later?" I added. "Sure" said gorgeous voice. "Bye for now" I said "bye" she replied and hang up. Exactly two hours 5mins latter I received a text message from gorgeous voice. To be continue |
wee! Wee! wee!! wee!!! How is ur morale? Are u good to go? Fellow batch A corps members, we have come a long way in serving our father land nigeria. It's just like yesterday that we were kept in a semi prison called camp and was arrayed in white and white like fowls prepared for a village festival. I remember the early morning drilling which has now made me a -t'ai chi- master. How can i forget the morning delicacy of coloured water and bread or the armed robbers that are armed with cameras scattered all over the camp. My first alawi was shared among the mami marketers -otondo no be disease- I remember the battle of posting out of camp which led to the freedom of corps members from our oppressors the soldiers and marked the beginning of a new era called the era of PPA and CDS hmm NOW YOUR SUFFER CONTINUES NYSC. It is now almost over. 32days to go, 313days gone. Hit like if u are/were a corper. Comment if u will one day serve and tell us what batch and year u hope to serve. |
U just can't take it away from mechanical engineering, all other engineering are branches of mechanical, no wonder its the GES/GST/GNS of the faculty of engineering. One of the hallmark of a fulfilled man is having offsprings that are striving well. Am really proud of electrical and chemical engineering, u guys are not a disappointment to ur father mechanical, but remember that "okro no dey grow pas the owner" @least show some respect. The day mechanical will shift from its number one spot will be that day that the earth will stop to rotate, afterall 'when there is motion, there is mechanical' wait a minute, what is it about me and "the first and best"? i wonder! #I rep youhigh# |
Zik Hall, a republic within UI The next time you come across a well-dressed young man arguing vehemently and threatening to do battle with a bus conductor in Lagos, don’t walk away like most people do. Wait till the fight is over and ask the young man this question: Are you a Zikite? In eight out of 10 cases, the guy would be a graduate of the University of Ibadan who was "unfortunate" to be offered accommodation in the institution’s most popular hall of residence. Zikites, as residents of University of Ibadan’s Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall are addressed, are known for their uncompromising stand against injustice. However, they sometimes take their activism too far and that’s why the institution’s central administration has consistently branded the Hall as a "haven of thugs and notorious elements". I’m a Zikite and forever will be one. Having graduated from UI last year, I must admit that I miss living in Zik Hall. The hall is a replica of the Kalakuta Republic, and Fela would not have hesitated in making it an extension of his liberal kingdom, were he to be alive. Don’t get me wrong, please. The activities of Zikites do not come near what obtained on Gbemisola Street. Though Zik Hall is a place of contrasts, its residents respect the beliefs of one another. It is a hall where Christians will be praying and someone with a lit cigarette (and sometimes a roll of hemp) between his fingers will walk by and greetings would be exchanged. The Moslems wake up early, do their prayers and head back to their rooms to devour pots of beans with their roommates who are Christians, Buddhists etc. Though the Hall has been labeled a den of rebels, it is a nice place to live in. Nice in the sense that you can’t be oppressed in Zik Hall. The Hall has a unique culture that is strictly observed and valued by true Zikites. Unlike some other Halls of Residence where students lord it over one another, you are a freeborn in Zik Hall. It is a place where 100 level students and finalists see themselves as comrades, rather than trying to subdue one another. When you’re broke as a Zikite, all you need do is to pick up your spoon and enter any of the 253 rooms in the Hall. You will come out smiling with the hunger getting conquered. Have you heard of the word "Zikism"? Zikism is the philosophy that defines the lifestyle of residents of Zik Hall. Zikites are an unusual lot, I must admit. The Hall’s geographical location on the UI campus does not help matters. It is very close to the university’s Zoological garden, so Zikites enjoy the queer privilege of being woken up daily by the roars of the zoo’s lion. When some baboons escaped from the zoo in 2001, they naturally came to Zik Hall and Zikites were on hand to catch and return them to their enclosure. People have attributed the strange behaviour of Zikites to the proximity of the Hall to the Zoological Garden. You need to be around when Zikites hold their yearly carnival. Brilliant students would stay away from their books for some hours to show the university community their weird attributes. They dress up as ghosts and zombies (remember Michael Jackson’s Thriller?), masquerades, Ifa and Sango priests, Count Dracula, Okija shine priests (with plastic human skulls tied round their necks) professors, madmen, pastors and Imams, etc. They would move round the campus, dancing to music supplied by a hired band and the Hall’s supporters club. The Zik Hall carnival is always a sight to behold with residents of the university’s other halls of residence being held spellbound by the tantrums of their course mates. Writing comprehensively on Zik Hall could lead to writing a Ph.D. thesis. However, it should be noted that the hall breeds great men. Call them what you want, but Zikites are intelligent, resourceful, law abiding and God fearing. Right from its inception in the 60s, Zik Hall has continued to produce men that have done the nation proud. The list includes Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, Mutiu Adepoju, Dimeji Lawal, Oba Wole Amele (councilor Balogun of the village Headmaster series), Major General Victor Odeka, Chief Dayo Abatan, the late activist, Dr Kumolu Johnson, amongst others. Anytime you are on the UI campus, try and take a cab to the Hall referred to as the heartbeat of the university – Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall. It is the abode of unpretentious undergraduates. GREATEST ZIKITES!!!
are u kidding me? I am beginning to like my zik all. Fellow zikites It's "tosomaju" on 2go. Lilly i sight u. |
I got zik. I think i love that man, but the hall? Don't know yet. |
