No one should be insulted. Its a forum for discussion. Its a serious topic. So many people are brainwashed into paying money to churches. Ignorance is not acceptable. The questions are many any the answers are few.
The idea of tithe has completely been misunderstood. Lots of selfihness and deceit.
Now lets make it simple. Those preaching for tithe are doing so at their own interest and not for God. Why emphasize on tithe. It should be personal.
All these pastors dont fear God. They should be punished. Using Gods name in vain. The people paying the tithe in ignorance are even more guilty.

Brother there's nothing wrong with tithing its just that some pastors allowed materialism to overwhelm their life's, wch leads to improper use of tithes i.e. tithes r not used for wat they r meant for.

Why is it that it is those very "authentic Christians" that are the first to cast the first stone?

I am not saying tithing is wrong. What I am clamouring for is accountability and transparency. Let the G.O regularly publish or tell his Church members how tithes and offerings are spent up to the last penny. At least such practice was evident in the Old Testament. The pastor is both answerable to God and Man.

i thank God for ur maturity level, and i do appreciate d fact that u r not opposed to tithing.
But my take on tithing is simple, i believe it is expedient that churches collect to run and service d church. But lets not get this twisted d church is not d structure we lavish millions on trying to beautify but its members, d individual dat worships in every denomination is d church of JESUS. like christ said " upon dis rock (i.e. PETER ) i will build my church.
From d tithe d pastor has certain % ( Not really sure but i guess its 10%) wch he's permitted or allowed to take from for his own upkeep. Pastors r encouraged to work and not rely solely on that wch comes.
The present day ministers r too materialistic, most of wch believe or use pulpit gimmicks as a means of making money, and this has somehow encouraged some of our politician to steal just to drop for pastor to gain support wen elections come around e.g. GEJ
Pastors hv no doubt deviated from their original calling, of soul winning and helping d needy, reaching out to d neglected ones. Many r pastors today cos it pays and nothing more, and some of us who truly like d calling r ashamed of it cos everyone believes u r only called by tithe and offerings.
pastors should learn to remit mission offerings as given by members not part of it. But we must learn to accept frz's constant attack on MOG is rude particularly to pastor Adeboye, if he dear tries it with pastor ibiyeome, haa aunty kemi go gist am; maybe then frz would believe in tithing.
