PoliticsRe: Are Nigerians Really Patriotic? by tpia5: 2:53pm On Jun 12, 2013
In short, in the issue of patriotism versus tolerance, tolerance is what needs to be taught nigerians.

If they cant tolerate each other then patriotism is an unattainable goal, no matter how many schools, youth service programs, or funds are invested in promoting it.

A situation where the myriads of cult members are taught to recognize only themselves and view people outside their group, as undesirable outsiders to be eliminated by any means possible, is more at home in nazi germany, where such doctrines are inculcated into youngsters right from their pre-university years.

Starting from the ATR proponents, to the christian and muslim groups, open discourse is needed.

Kenyanstar: Since it seems am trying to explain to a dump guy what i mean't... The institution that i work for has the sole jurisdiction on where i go chooses the route i use.. If it really makes you uncomfortable you can complain to anyone you dim fit. And please try addressing something better like alleviating poverty in Nigeria instead of wondering why i decided to travel on my money and with our national carrier( Kenya airways).
There's nothing to get agitated about.

I think perhaps you meant to say you stopped at nigeria enroute to your hometown in ghana. No biggie, uae and kenya sound more posh, no doubt.

Anytime i want to go to sokoto from lagos, i first of all head to equatorial guinea, much faster, and yes, i understand your meanderings.

The bookmarkers should pull up the thread from 2 or 3 years back nah.

Plus the twenty goats on okada, man eating a drum of eba and the wedding where the groom wore a beautiful wedding gown while the bride has on a nice suit.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Deportee From Kenya Narrates Ordeal by tpia5: 12:35pm On Jun 12, 2013
Did you insert it before or after your error was noted?

Diplomatic passport means routes to uae from kenya are shuttled via nigeria, i see!

Can you explain your nigeria-to-kenya-via-uae error.
PoliticsRe: Are Nigerians Really Patriotic? by tpia5: 12:16pm On Jun 12, 2013
Promoting patriotism and ignoring the need to promote tolerance, hasnt really worked in this country.

There are so many govt programs and implementations which were designed to encourage nigerians to be patriotic, not sure they've improved the country so far, the level of intolerance nigerians have for themselves remains one of the highest for any nationality.

I think tolerance is far more more important than patriotism, at this point in time.

And no, intermarriage does not and has not increased patriotism or tolerance in nigeria. It might increase you personally, nothing to do with nigeria.

The photographer and whoever drew eyebrows on the baby, should be queried and investigated.

delpee: As stated earlier, her dad is Ladi Jadesimi, husband of Alero. Google is your friend indeed!
He is an accountant and oil magnate.

I wonder why an outdated title is of so much importance to anyone. Happy married life to them jare.
yes, google says the dad's wife is the daughter of okotie eboe, former finance minister.

i think we blacks should try to go easy on all this "first black" or is it "first to comment" trendings.

by now, i seriously doubt there's technically a "first black" anything, someone correct me if i'm wrong.

AjanleKoko: Isn't it obvious?
The oyinbo I had the chat with was a Briton. He had his own views, based on his (British) view of what's acceptable and what is not.
It's kinda silly, cos if I had this exact same discussion with an Indian expat, or a North African Arab expat (all of them dey for Naija), I wonder what their worldviews would be undecided
,

ok, in short, you are colour struck and tripped by the fact that you met foreigners, some of caucasian origin.

good for you!

Simply put, there's no generally-accepted yardstick for 'acceptable' behaviour. See how the posters who have a Westernized mindset were so quick to relate to the OP's generalizations. Not that we don't have some areas where improvement is required, but most of it is poppycock in my view.
there's no yardstick for acceptable behaviour, yet you opened the thread to prove otherwise?

Coming from you, this is about as bankable as a Filipino treasury bill grin cheesy
you have excessively low self esteem.

do i constantly open threads to belittle and demean others, as is your wont?

some of you nlers think by accusing others of what you yourself are guilty of, that will hide your glaringly obvious inadequacies. undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

think again!

Maybe its a diss of current forms of black music?
FamilyRe: How Do We Eradicate "cultism" In Nigeria? by tpia5: 10:52pm On Jun 11, 2013
I seriously doubt that's possible, @ topic.

It starts much earlier than university level.

Its the culture in some areas, familial or a combination of both, in others.
RomanceRe: Ladies, Can You Date A Younger Guy? by tpia5: 8:18pm On Jun 11, 2013
Why cant younger guys date within their age range?

I saw a thread yesterday where a miss something ( beauty queen) was being feted by a bunch of guys who were clearly much older than her, no single young guy in the picture, and it was her birthday. So i wondered, where were the young guys?

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Deportee From Kenya Narrates Ordeal by tpia5: 8:05pm On Jun 11, 2013
Other african countries should invite nigerians to their forums, geez.

Something is wrong with the way so many nigerians are raised to not recognize their enemies even from among themselves, while these enemies take the issue very seriously and constantly plan and plot how to destroy the person.
EntertainmentRe: A Nigerian To Become First Black Marchioness In UK by tpia5: 8:03pm On Jun 11, 2013
Seems the groom's mum was born in hungary while the groom's ancestry is traced back to 16th century britain.

Bride's side? Only what the media sees fit to publish.

Bride's dad is an "oil tycoon" from "lagos", mum is british, we are told.

Resemblance to goldie? Unexplained, will remain a mystery.
