tbaba1234: @tpia, you are being dishonest

You know this place would have been turned into something else if a muslim made those comments. If that is an example of christian tolerance then it isn't so great (putting it very mildly).

Anyway, The thread has derailed enough. later
where is the example of the so-called christian intolerance which for now, currently exists only in your imagination?

you keep making reference to the "reaction" should a muslim cleric call for a muslim governor for lagos state ( do you realize how ridiculous you sound?). So far, you have produced no evidence of any such call, neither has there been any reaction save what you conjure up, yet you want to make a big issue and start trouble over an imaginary event? huh

if the place is turned into something else due to arguments over any topic, including non-religious ones, doesnt the site have moderators?

of course you know what you're doing!

tbaba1234: You said: christians are known for their tolerance

So your comment was not specific to you.
i was responding to lagosshia's post, which was an open attack on christians.

yes, christians are known for tolerance, its not necessarily a good thing.

And I am not talking about atheists, I am talking about christians on Nairaland. Go to the Islam section, How many christians actively make threads just to malign islam and muslims?
like i said, anything you pull up can be matched thread for thread with anti-christian ones opened by muslims.

Compare to the number of muslims making anti-christian threads.
the search function can help you out there.

Now, i know that there are many upright outstanding people of the christian faith but my stay on Nairaland has shown me that there is also a good percentage of intolerant, hateful Christians and there is more than enough evidence to prove that.
my stay on nairaland has shown me there are hateful intolerant people, end of.

if you are hateful and intolerant by nature, you're hateful and intolerant, religion can just provide a cover for you to justify your criminality and genetic makeup, that's all.

Just read any muslim topic that makes front page.
huh

i dont always pay attention to what makes front page and i barely visit religion these days, so i have no idea what you mean.

LagosShia: then condemn his comments and disassociate yourself from him as you've done, and disown him.simple.i am only reacting to his comment.
like i said, he stated his opinion, its not illegal to do so at the moment of typing. undecided

most of the christians on the thread have stated over and over they do not agree with his view, why are you on the offensive? Are you afraid of a christian governor?

youre very wrong.
I dont think i am.

nuff said.

not true.but obviously youre reasonanle enough to know that trying to make the post of governor inlagos based on religion would not favor Christians.you are playing it smart here.
again, like i pointed out, most of the christians on the thread disagreed with him. What else do you want people to do? There is no need to get hyper over an opinion unless you're afraid the polls will reflect his view?

good, youre honest enough to admit unlike your fellow citing Wikipedia as his source.
i dont know who you're referring to since i didnt read the entire thread.

however, i dont think its a secret most native lagosians are muslim? huh

and so?

am I not entitled to my beliefs? isn't it part of freedom to choose?
your beliefs and so-called "freedom to choose" in this case/thread, are intended to stir up civil strife and create an avenue for religious unrest. Not cool. undecided You made your first post swinging, as it were, and immediately started off by castigating and insulting christians.

i always ask, do you folks consider yourselves wiser than those who went before you? huh

for as long as the people want that.
obviously, some people are aiming to overturn the system?

tbaba1234: What tolerance??

Do you want me to show you threads of your exemplary tolerance??
my tolerance or whose tolerance?

please clarify that first before we engage in the thread spamming competition, anything you pull up can be matched thread for thread.

and PLEASE do not attach atheist anti-muslim threads to your list.
Politics › Re: Cleric Calls For Christian Governor In Lagos State Elections by tpia5: 1:13am On Jun 10, 2013
LagosShia: please address your cleric.
first of all, please explain how he is my cleric.

his provocative and discriminatory call will only ensure that Yoruba muslims do not vote for a Christian contesting for governor in lagos state.
i suspect you are actually not familiar with lagos at all.

like i said, and many others also, the religion of the governor is not a major issue, althuogh you clearly want to make it so as part of your five point agenda no doubt.

majority of indigenous lagosians are muslims, hence the reason for a muslim governor.

i wonder if fashola as a muslim governor and the majority of the indigenes of lagos being muslims have tried to implement sharia law.
i'm sure that's your aim.

lagos still remains the most attractive place to live in Nigeria and most welcoming and tolerant of all.
i wonder how long it will remain that way. undecided

many christians are abusing this phrase "meeting with God".

what use is your so-called meeting with God if you are only giving opportunity to unbelievers to blaspheme because of what you do after church?

there are far too many unbeleiving "believers" in churches these days, they are far worse than outright non-christians yet they mark attendance every sunday.

yes, God said the wheat will grow with the tares but that's no reason to make yourself a tare? huh

LagosShia: let us look at this subject objectively.
and then you went right on to post the most subjective, biased and inciting view so far on this thread.

not to mention insulting christians in general as well?

anyway, christians are known for their tolerance, so carry on. undecided

i suppose you're doing it intentionally, as your jihad.

There is a reason why South Africans dislike Nigerians so much
there's a reason why every country dislikes nigerians so much.

anywhere you see open and pervasive dislike of nigerians, rest assured there are nigerians behind the scenes who facilitate and encourage it.

like i always say, blacks are their own worst enemies, they can buy the hearts, souls and bodies of others but they cant buy goodwill for their own people.

the cleric in question only stated his opinion- is that a crime? huh

i dont see any need for sentiment or religious fighting here- the reason why lagos has muslim governors is because most indigenous lagosians are muslim.

eod.

the important issue is performance, not religion.

i'm curious, how do strict muslims on the site see it if, for example, you're on a thread and x rated pictures are posted?

do you make special prayers to cleanse yourselves afterwards, or you just ignore the suggestive photos. Does it affect your "spirituality", or it just doesnt faze you at all.

its nigeria no doubt, that's why they had time to be fighting over a pot of stew.

assuming they were overseas and the wife just got home from her nursing assistant job, and was getting ready to go to her night school for nursing, and the husband just returned from his own minimum wage job where he worked double shift and kissed people's butt all day on top $8 per hour, (and had some small boy or girl as his boss and watching his every interaction like a hawk), neither of them would even notice who dished the stew.

Contd

He heard a slight sound beside him, and when he turned around, it was the two gentlemen- they had appeared as silently and as quickly as they'd disappeared earlier. However, now they had on different outfits- the dark mysterious guy had on a red blazer, black pants,a black shirt and patent footwear with a design embroidered on it, while the lighter glowing guy was wearing a white blazer with red lapels, white pants, and spiffy leather shoes. They looked dashing, and the young man wondered if he also needed a wardrobe change.

No, they assured him, you're visiting so you're ok.

The young man asked them about the garden. They invited him to take a stroll through it and learn more.

The garden, the young men said, was the garden of design. The fruit on the trees were called fruit of karma, and everyone who came to the grove, were allowed to pick one, take a bite, then throw the rest of the fruit into the waterfall from where it was carried off downstream and deposited into the garden of memory. The garden of memory was a quiet place where memories were planted- some could be dug up and examined, while others could not and simply became part of the ecosystem.

And where does the stream go to, the young man asked.

It continues past the garden of memory, and empties back into the ocean, they replied.

Oh, said the young man, I got here by way of the ocean, maybe I should just follow this stream and head back to the shore.

His companions looked at each other, then shook their heads.

Well, you can do that, the dark mysterious one said, but you should attend the function first, there's a lot to be seen there.

The other gentleman nodded in agreement.

The young man considered their words carefully, and even though he could not really see a reason why the function was important to him personally (it obviously was to the other two men), he eventually decided he would go there before heading back to the garden.

He did wonder if he should eat some fruit however, so he could sow a seed of memory (and quench his hunger), and made to pick one.

Wait, said the light, glowing gentlemen, I dont think you should eat that yet, you're a visitor and the fruit usually has to be eaten by those of us who are constant here. There's another garden which we'll get to presently, and you can eat the fruit in that one.

The young man asked if he could drink some water at least, and wash his face to freshen up. They assured him that was ok. So he went over to the waterfall, took a long drink, then washed his face and arms, rolled up his trousers, and washed his feet in the stream. The water had tasted nice and refreshing, and he felt invigorated.

When he looked over at the two young men after he was done, he was surprised to see two girls had joined them and they were all engaged in conversation, with the lighter glowing gentleman talking animatedly. The girls were carrying their cups, of course, and they looked at him with interest when he came out of the water. The dark mysterious guy had his arms around them and seemed very interested in what they had to say, while at the same time retaining his air of mystery. He also appeared very conscious of his surroundings.

The young man walked over, and they all resumed their journey. The girls glanced at him every now and then, but by and large, remained engrossed with the other two male companions, who informed him in between gists, they would need another wardrobe change before very long.

The young man knew what to expect this time, so he nodded and gave a thumbs up to let them know he understood.

Their path took them out of the grove and back on the plain, and the two gentlemen immediately took off again, this time with their female companions, he watched them vanish, almost flying, while he hurried on in his own way.
Literature › Re: Freestyling Work by tpia5(op):
The Grove, or Pick Your Karma

The young man journeyed with his two companions. After a while they had to stop to rest: this they did under the shade of a nearby tree. The young man was grateful for the little succour offered by the tree, and thankfully rested near its low lying branches, just in time to catch a cool breeze blowing westward. This was refreshing weather.

The two young gentlemen also sat down under the tree. However, it seemed no sooner had they done so, than to the young man's surprise, they sprang up again and declared they had to be on their way. While he stared in surprise, they took off, walking at such a fast pace all he could do was gape in amazement. The young man leaped to his feet and ran after them. They were already some distance off, and he wondered if they were jet propelled or simply fast walkers.

By the time he caught up with the young guys, he was out of breath and had to stop briefly while his strength returned. The two young men had also paused, and were waiting for him to say something.

Where are you going, he gasped.

The dark mysterious one answered, we need to get changed in time for the function.

What function, asked the young man. He felt better now, and less winded. Fleetingly, he wondered how they practically flew in motion.

The glowing guy replied: the same function the girl told you about, we're getting some other outfits and then we'll be back to continue on our way.

Wait for us under the tree, he continued, we'll return in no time.

Knowing he could not continue at their pace anyway, the young man bid them goodbye and turned back to resume his seat by the tree branches, in the shade. He watched the two gentlemen vanish into the distance, then turned around to examine his surroundings.

The tree had fruit growing on it. Each fruit was roughly the size of a leather ball, and oval in shape. They were differing colours, red, brown, green, yellow, blue, and some which were transparent. The fruit hung low on the tree and looked very tantalizing, especially to the young man who was beginning to feel hungry again. He noticed the broad tree trunk was blocking his view of what lay behind the tree, so he decided to walk around it and investigate.

What he found was a grove of trees. Each had low lying fruit hanging from its branches, a breeze was blowing gently through the garden, and a faint aroma was wafting on the breeze. It was not a bad aroma, just one he found puzzling because he could not place it. He didnt know if it was coming from the fruit, the leaves, or blown in from somewhere outside the grove.

He saw a little waterfall slightly ahead. It looked very refreshing, and the water bubbled soundlessly into the small rocks beneath. From there, it flowed away in an unknown direction, and the young man stood for some time, trying to figure out exactly where it was headed. He wondered if he should follow the stream in order to find its destination. Maybe it would take him back to the seashore and the lady in the boat?
