i dont think it really makes any differnce or it does not really matter.it still conveys the same intention of greeting.i just feel "alaykom" or "alaikom" is closer to the arabic pronunciation than "aleikum".

alaykum seems to be the pakistani pronounciation as well.

i'm also not sure what the problem is with his statement.

Breaking the cycle is extremely difficult and imo cant be done without the help of God through Jesus Christ, but i'm not sure the solution is in people from such backgrounds sticking only with each other.

if this is a true story and you live overseas, then be careful how you relate with the boy because for one, he's underage and should anything come up whether true or false, you will be held responsible for whatever transpired, whether good or bad.
