at least those that never made MBGN can have another pageant to feel better about themselves
it actually used to be the other way round. Women who didnt make the miss nigeria cut, would contest in MBGN.

Everything don scatter for nigeria.

in any case, this may be a different miss nigeria pageant than the original one, which i think was phased out somehow. Probably got starved of funds, i'm guessing.

anyway, @ poster

your picture is of miss nigeria in america, not miss nigeria.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Orania, South Africa: Where Apartheid Lives On by tpiah: 10:53pm On Jun 24, 2010
i heard about this town(?) some years ago.

they seem to have some antagonism to the english:

According to its founders, the purpose of Orania is to create a town where the preservation of Afrikanerdom's cultural heritage is strictly observed and Afrikaner selfwerksaamheid ("self reliance"wink is an actual practice, not just an idea. All jobs, from management to manual labour, are filled by Afrikaners only; non-Afrikaner workers are not permitted. "We do not want to be governed by people who are not Afrikaners", said Potgieter, the previous chairman. "Our culture is being oppressed and our children are being brainwashed to speak English".

besides, is it just me or does it look like a commune.

makes one wonder about the dangers of immigration, really.

Travel › Re: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by tpiah: 10:19pm On Jun 24, 2010
BOMANY:
Yess indeed. Our bro asked if the hotels are overpriced NOT if their Overprices are justified or not

So, are the hotels overpriced or not? the naswer is big yes. These prices cannt make any tourism industry

I stayed in Sheraton Cairo on the bank the of Nile rever for 90$ per night, and even you cannot compare between sheraton here and there, in Cairo alone more than 5 Sheraton hotels. That is why 8million tourists visit Egypt annually spent 5billion USD, the same in south africa
as you yourself mentioned, egypt has 8 million tourists annually.

so why are you comparing it with nigeria?

do we have pyramids and ancient temples?

@papabrowne

your price quote on the first page of this thread, doesnt show the average cost for a suite in the foreign hotels you listed.

@ topic

as per customer service- no such thing back home, imo.

While walking through the interview zone, Saifi spotted writer Asma Halimi, who works for Algerian newspaper Competition, and struck her with his open hand in front of dozens of witnesses.

Halimi responded by striking the player in the mouth
round of applause for Halimi

very quick reflexes.

i wish she'd kneed him in the groin as well, so he can learn how not to manhandle women who arent on his payroll.

Saifi then threw a sports drink bottle at a wall in the interview area
yes, take it out on the wall.

Family › Re: Why Do Many Nigerians Develop Accents Few Months After Leaving Nigeria? by tpiah: 10:09pm On Jun 23, 2010
well, you have a choice of making yourself understood versus having people eye you as if you're speaking gibberish.

little things like pronouncing every syllable in "P.A.R.T.Y"  as opposed to simply saying "parry" makes a lot of difference between someone wondering if you're constipated, or understanding what you're trying to say.

seriously though, some may be faking it but not all are.

people develop accents (to your nigerian ear) after leaving nigeria because, well, they're out of nigeria. Never mind the fact that to most non-naijas listening to them, the nigerian accent is often still there.

I just feel "they" are trying to test the waters for a possible withdrawal of the civil rights act.

It's just frightening.
