poster it's not a nigerian thing. it's a cultic thing which i'm sure is also done in south africa. he's blaming it on nigerian culture, but there's no culture i'm aware of in nigeria where the couple is asked to lick each other's blood. Anyone who's hometown does that should identify themselves. btw, do you and this man of yours have something against marriage? ![]() |
even though the greek player suppose win oscar for his acting sha ootrue talk kaita didnt even touch him. i'm not saying what kaita did wasnt wrong, but the greek guy overreacted. anyway, with one billion condoms distributed by the govt and topless women parading around n.aked, why is anybody even expecting serious results at the world cup? na beans? ![]() sebi na all of una dey gawk before. |
daft comparison! i guess some of you like being called bombers same way you're always called 419ers! so if kaita hadnt gotten kicked off the match, nigeria would have won the world cup? |
quite obviously some evil and cowardly elements are trying to stoke up war in the area. but an autopsy should be done on the cows and the actual cause of death ascertained to see if it was poisoning. |
abdul muttalab |
i know you love the back and forth but i'm not indulging you, sorry!! ok- you win oh!! nigeria is stupidly copying the US by using eagles and horses on their national seal!! the eagle only means strength in england and north america- never in nigeria! |
instead of making this man king, akure kingmakers should have sent him back to school to get his GED [nigerian equivalent], then required him to go to a tertiary institution to further his education. i think that would have benefitted akure more. ![]() |
i'm telling you to get your lazy behind off nl and find out the answers to your questions yourself!! |
^^ you have internet, i have internet. you know some nigerians, i know some nigerians do your own searching and asking or vamoose to some other thread! |
@ ezeagu go back and reread one of my initial posts on this thread where i asked you to post other's countries' seals!!!!! gosh, i cant believe this!!!! and kindly explain how and why you're splitting hairs over this quote: The society is highly revered in Igbo land. Members wear ‘Ugo’ (Eagle) feather on their traditional cap. This shows that the members are the cream of society because the Eagle in Igbo land is seen as the most beautiful bird, therefore it is believed to be the cream of the bird kingdom, and hence members of the society are seen as the cream of society. Their white regalia show purity both in action, body, judgement and thought while the red cap in which the eagle feather is attached shows that through their suffering and shedding of their blood, their entire community and society grows and progresses. They are incorruptible in all ramifications and must display high morals andso "cream of kingdom/society" and "strength" are opposites? mutually exclusive? yorubas say "abo oro la nso fun omoluwabi" meaning a sensible person doest need excessive explanations before he gets a point! |
kobojunkie PLEASE EXIT THIS THREAD BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT DOING YOURSELF A FAVOUR BY REMAINING HERE AND TYPING JAZZ. |
^^are you now trying to deny being Igbo? ![]() stop running around the mulberry bush in an attempt to pretend you understand anything. if after everybody's attempts to educate you on the symbolism associated with the NIGERIAN eagle, you insist on bullheadedly rejecting every single explanation you were given, then just quit the thread! for your perusal: philipine coat of arms https://www.aiesec.org/cms/aiesec/AI/Asia%20Pacific/THE%20PHILIPPINES/Images/542px-Coat_of_Arms_of_the_Philippines.svg.png now, go and look up the meaning of "resemblance" |
THANK YOU OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!! |
If I get married to this my boyfriend he would also do the same thing to my daughter"if"? ![]() she's still considering him as an option? ![]() what a soap opera btw. and what a goat of a boyfriend. shameless hussy of a mother daft girlfriend- for that "if" and also for not beating up the randy cow of a man. |
Answer: The eagle, particularly the bald eagle, is not important in Nigerian folklorethe more i reread your posts the more flabbergasted i get. i think you're just trying to pull everyone's legs here. Mine in particular. in achebe's things fall apart (i assume you've read it), did you notice the proverb "let the kite perch and let the eagle perch. whoever says the other should not perch, let his wing break" in addition, have you ever heard of the ozo title in Igboland? feathered cap?The society is highly revered in Igbo land. This shows that the members are the cream of society because the Eagle in Igbo land is seen as the most beautiful bird, therefore it is believed to be the cream of the bird kingdom, and hence members of the society are seen as the cream of society. They are incorruptible in all ramifications and must display high morals andIgbo proverb: Aka a na-ana dike bu itube ya (abuba) ugo. Lit: Appropriate handshake for the valiant is to cap him with an eagle (feather). Exp: Noble deeds should be appreciated i hope you understand the reason why i'm so dumbfounded? I'm not Igbo but i'm teaching you and kobojunkie about Igbo culture? |
That is its species. . . . .i'm saying you'd have a better case asking why the american bald eagle isnt bald, than remaining in this path you're presently on. All I saw was History of Ireland, France and Henry III. . . . no Nigeria.my point is the eagle's strength is observed globally. |
ezeagu:yoruba proverb: A ki i fini e joye awo di ko ma le gbade. One cannot be given the title eagle and yet be incapable of snatching chickens. Igbo proverb: Ugo chara acha adi(ghi) echu echu A mature eagle feather will ever remain pure are you saying the eagles being referenced in traditional nigerian culture are american eagles? ![]() |
poster please reduce your age because you're fooling nobody. it's a disgrace to claim 29 and post this type of thread. |
@ ezeagu three questions for you 1. are you a nigerian 2. have you ever been to nigeria, and how many times, if you have. 3. what is bald about the picture of the american bald eagle you posted. |
ezeagu:you must be joking. Kobojunkie:i dont know if you and ezeagu are for real or simply trying to pull people's legs here. read this, and dont post again until you've thoroughly understood it: http://www.history.rochester.edu/PENNYMAG/211/eagle.htm if your grouse is that nigeria has no right to depict strength on it's logo, then that's your own wahala. But stop arguing aimlessly over things even a one year old baby knows!!! |
But obviously, they copied the lion from Africa and India because these lions are thousands of years old. Then again they captured lions and put them into zoos. Now onto copying, the Lion is the symbol of strength in every culture, they also are not region or even continent specific and there are lions (modern ones) native to Greece. The people who created the three lions, the English, had possession of lions, When did Nigeria capture the bald eagle? Where in Africa is the bald eagle? What part of Nigerian culture, like the British culture (e.g 'Heart of a Lion' nickname for King Richard the I around 800 years ago), portrays the bald eagle?for the last time, the eagle on the nigerian coat of arms is NOT the american bald eagle. nigeria has OVER 48 species of eagle!!!!! i saw eagles very frequently when i was in nigeria, as i've repeated many times on this thread. some places have vultures, while other places have eagles! I did not see any vultures when i was young- i never even realized some places in nigeria had so many vultures, until i was grown. |
@ ezeagu i checked the efcc site and that logo was obviously done by an amateur, just for your information. the direction the eagle faces is significant. anyway, given efcc's close ties to the US, it's actually not that surprising. |
Kobojunkie:of course. england is not nigeria. its really pointless debating this with you since you've never seen an eagle, so let me just inform you eagles representing strength is a universal observation. By those who know what an eagle is. |
south african coat of arms https://www.freewebs.com/worlddirectory/480px-Coat_of_arms_of_South_Africa.svg.png |
@ ezeagu i do hope you wont also query why there are horses on the nigerian seal like kobojunkie did. kobojunkie does know there are horses in nigeria? ![]() |
ezeagu:check my previous post. ezeagu:so are there lions in england? ie a native species there. |
ezeagu:Maybe your efcc logo is based on the american bald eagle. that doesnt mean there's no african fish eagle which looks the same. |
ezeagu:AFRICAN FISH EAGLE: https://www.avians.net/lanakila/african/021-AfricanFishEagle.jpg https://www.birdsasart.com/African%20Fish%20Eagle.jpg https://www.resimler7.com/tum/hayvan2/African-Fish-Eagle.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/African_fish_eagle_flying_cropped.jpg |
ezeagu:I dont see a resemblance between the nigerian coat of arms and your EFCC logo besides the fact that they're both eagles. |
^^ btw this is the EFCC logo on wiki: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c3/Efcc_logo.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Efcc_logo.png where did you get yours? |
ezeagu:is that the nigerian coat of arms? The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a Nigerian law enforcement agency that investigates financial crimes such as advance fee fraud (419 fraud) and money laundering. The EFCC was established in 2003please ask EFCC how they came about their logo. |
Kobojunkie:you must be joking |
