I had this same mindset while living and growing up in Nigerian in the 80s, 90s as well so let's try not to make this a meaningless "us vs them" argument.

Around every corner on earth it was happening, we all heard, watched news and saw pictures of people dieing in the streets etc I looked back at when another contagion (Ebola) happened - we know how a contagion 'virus' behaves/spread in crowded places.
I always say thank goodness it didn't get to Nigeria...but oh well!
