The reality is ikwerres speak igbo. Just like a Yoruba man that speak ijesha in osun will not understand the dialect of an ijebu man in ogun state or an okun man in kogi state North Central but they all speak and understand Central Yoruba.

Ikwerre don't speak Ibo language but Ikwerre language. There could be some common words just like in many tribes example, Hausa, Tiv, Gwandara, Kanuri, Nupe etc but you don't see Hausa forcing their identity on these people.

Majority that accept it only exist in your wildest imaginations. Ikwerre people that say they are Ibo are not more than 10 and will be transported free to meet you folks in Umuahia when you declare your Biafra.

Ikwerre don't share the same values, character and even culture with Ibo. There are some names that are similar and there are also many that are different.

I'm learning a lot from this thread. I read a book sometime ago, the book explained that the reason ikwerres don't always tag along as mainstream igbos like those of South East and Delta State was bcoz a controversy happened btw d rivers Igbo(ikwerres) and d mainstream igbos of SE during the Biafra civil war.



Now I understand that controversy was deep-rooted that is why ikwerres find it hard to identify as igbos but deep down and realistically ikwerres are igbos.

Igbo people will write anything to justify all their fabricated stories and make them cling onto their pipe dreams.

Ikwerre has never been Igbo before, during and after the war.

Ikwerre people represented at the Wilinks Commission in 1956/57 before Nigerian independence and it wouldn’t have been if they were Igbo.

In 1965 3 years before the war, Ikwerre made what is known as ‘Rumuomasi declaration’ where it was clearly stated that they were not Igbo. Mind you, Igbos we’re running the regional government and using it to steal the land of the indigenes and allocating to Igbo people in perpetuity. They were sharing government money as ‘loans’ through ACB that was never to be repaid only to Igbo people. Government scholarships were 95% awarded to Igbo people as well as 95% of government’ appointments to Igbo people. At this time, they knew Ikwerre is not Igbo. They were even bringing people from Aba and Owerri to become Mayor of Port Harcourt and it got to a point where Ikwerre (Rebisi) people said, ‘enough is enough’.

Go and read stories about how and why Rivers State was created. The Agitation by the southern minorities started even before independence led by Harold Dappa Biriye and Ikwerre played a strong role in that agitation. All the bs they keep spewing about Ikwerre denying being Igbo after the war is just bs.

They think claiming that Ikwerre is Igbo gives them the right to include them and even Rivers State in their hallucinations they call biafra. They start with Ikwerre but have their eyes on others as you can see from what one of them posted yesterday on twitter

Agberos in the East are the worse of the worst. The main reason Igbos are shouting about those in Lagos is because they see them as threat to their occupational ambitions in Lagos. Since Most Yorubas are forming wokes and don't really care about their heritage or any legacy for unborn generations again. There was a day I alighted from Enugu bus at Onitsha south bus park with my luggage, agberos demanded I must pay charges before a wheelbarrow guy could carry my stuff. The wheelbarrow guy said if he passes there hundred times, the owner of the load must pay these different sets of touts. The funny thing was that you would never see easterners complaining about these but in Lagos they're forming Americans.

Every thing they complain about other tribes and places, also happen in their states and towns in a bigger or worst scale.
