Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of Daar communications, his daughter-in-law, along with six members of his family, have tested positive for Coronavirus.

This is coming 3 days after his son and chairman of the board of the company, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr tested positive for the virus.

A test conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC on the Dokpesi family came out positive for eight members of the family

They have all been evacuated by the NCDC to the isolation centre at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada where his son is already receiving treatment

Reacting to the development, Dokpesi who spoke shortly after the arrival of the NCDC Ambulance, said he feels very well.

“I am of quite ok, i feel very well”, he said, an indication that his condition is still asymptotic

On Monday, his son, Raymond Jnr, tested positive for the virus and has been sent to the Isolation center in Abuja. Contact tracing immediately commenced with his family members including his father, High Chief Dokpesi and members of his household.

The test was later extended to senior management and members of staff who had been in close contact with the company’s index case.

The entire DAAR headquarters building sitting aloft the Kpaduma hills in Asokoro District Of Abuja has since been fumigated.

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, April 25, as three sisters between the ages of 14 and 20 drowned in a river at Amaeze village in Ishiagu community of Ebonyi State.

The three sisters who attended Comprehensive secondary school in Ishiagu, were found floating on the water, however, what led to the deaths is yet to be uncovered. The siblings have reportedly been buried beside the stream without caskets, as culture and tradition demand.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ivo Divisional Police Post, Mr. Nwornu Daniel confirmed the incident and he said it was a case of sudden and unnatural death.

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari, to scale down the total lockdown imposed in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja.

This was contained in a letter dated April 24, 2020 and signed by NGF chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.

The letter was addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation/Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha.

The Governors have asked Buhari to allow free movement in all the states, but with restrictions on large gatherings.

The other things the governors want to be incorporated into President Buhari’s impending pronouncement on the lockdown are:

“Inter-state lockdown, excluding movement of essential supplies- food, beverages, medical and pharmaceutical, petroleum supplies and agricultural products; internal free movement but with restrictions on large gatherings and assemblies; overnight curfews; lockdown of flights; and compulsory use of face masks/coverings in the public.”

Fayemi said NGF’s position was a follow up to a teleconference meeting with the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on April 22, 2020.

“Recall at the meeting it was agreed that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) articulates the issues that it would want to be included in the next Presidential Pronouncement on COVID-19 so as to have a Uniform and coordinated Policy on COVID-19 at both the national and sub-national levels,” he added.

Nigeria currently has 1095 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, with 208 discharged and 32 deaths.

Buhari is expected to make a new announcement on Monday, April 27, when the second 14-day lockdown elapses.

This comes barely 3 months after the veteran actor, Pa Kasumu died from an undisclosed illness.

Good news as Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has just tested negative for COVID-19.

The Kaduna State Governor confirmed the news on his official Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.

El-Rufai praised the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, for her reassuring leadership during his absence.

He said, “I am delighted to report today, that after nearly four weeks of observing a strict medical regime, I have now received the all-clear after two consecutive negative test results.

“I thank Almighty Allah for His grace and mercy. I also acknowledge with gratitude the massive outpouring of sympathy, prayers, and public support that followed the disclosure of the infection.

“My family not only went through the trauma of potentially losing a member but also the risk of being infected as well. The entire family has been supportive as usual, while my many friends and colleagues from all over the world have sent their prayers and best wishes.

“I wish to thank the diligent medical personnel of our Ministry of Health and the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital who managed my case for their dedicated and professional care.

In simple terms, NYSC is likely to put on hold Batch A 2020 Stream 1 Corps members because of the daily rise in Coronavirus Pandemic.

Imagine more cases are still being reported daily which means that the end of this virus might not be close.

As it is now, Everyone doesn't know when COVID-19 will end in Nigeria. It is possible NYSC might likely place Batch A 2020 Stream 1 Corps members on hold because of this reason or else, they will continue getting paid while still at home.

“As we earnestly look up to the Almighty God for help, management wishes to reassure all corps members once more that allowances for the months of March and April shall be paid to everyone, without recourse to the monthly clearance exercise. You are all enjoined to stay calm, stay safe, observe safety precautions given from time to time by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and always stay tuned to our traditional and new media platforms” he said.

A South African man has been arrested by the police for trying to smuggle his girlfriend in his car booth amidst the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID19.

According to an official from the province of Gauteng, said the lady who seemed to be his girlfriend was found in the car booth during a stop and search at a roadblock in the province.

The driver who did not have a permit, was headed to the Eastern Mpumalanga province.

Authorities say the woman was also arrested for consenting to be smuggled

South Africa government imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 24th for three weeks but the lockdown has been extended until the end of April.
