Family / Re: My Sister's Husband Has A Secret Wife - Should I Reveal The Secret? by Travelista(f): 3:52pm On Jul 26, 2010 |
I say the sister should know. You don't know what diseases the other woman has (or that the husband has picked up because if he's willing to dip out on one wife, he'll do it the second one); if you feel it's not your business, realize if your sis were to catch something serious from her hubby's outside play, you'd be partially responsible. On a more practical note, your sister should know about the other woman and the child. As this concubine has given birth and she (the true wife) hasn't, there's a chance the 2nd wife will want to make a move from the proverbial boys' quarters to the main house; your sister needs to know what she could be up against because when she finds out (what's done in the dark. . .), she'll need to make sure her ducks are in a row. |
Family / Re: Transracial Adoptions: What's Your Take On It ? by Travelista(f): 3:44pm On Jul 26, 2010 |
OP, be real. Are you adopting across color lines because you can actually offer a child a good home or are you doing this for shock value? To me, it sounds like you're doing this for shock value and on that notion alone, you don't need (let alone, deserve) to have children. I can't stand people like you: you're more concerned with what people think rather than what you can do; if you can offer a child a loving home, then by all means do so and do it without fanfare. When you get married, get back to us. Many of countries don't perform adoption with unmarried couples for one. Two, how many non-Black countries are going to be open about sending a baby to Nigeria? Have you really thought this through or are you just being extra? |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 3:36pm On Jul 26, 2010 |
Tayo-D: To be fair, liberals and conservatives do the same exact thing but in different packages. But, you're right about liberals and social engineering. We're seeing it daily with the Prop 8 issue and AZ immigration ruling and it's dangerous. Because of liberals, there are some things that shouldn't have to be spelled out (like the issue of marriage) that are taking away valuable resources and time from more pressing issues; if you don't agree with their stance, you could lose your job and out and out be treated as a social pariah. It's quite sad. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 3:27pm On Jul 26, 2010 |
slyfoxxjoe: Out of curiosity, where were you from 2000-2008? You don't know what you're talking about if you feel that FOX News doesn't report government propaganda. This is the same channel that helped W. & Co flat out lie about weapons of mass destruction, they actively race bait and are hypocrites; the Bush Administration ACTIVELY attacked MSNBC, CNN and even destroyed respected journalist Dan Rather's career because they wouldn't toe the line. Now, it's FOX's turn to be on the outside looking in. If you really believe FOX represents the true voice of the American people, I wonder what America you're living in; FOX represents the WHITE, Christian aspect of America that believes they should remain in power based solely on the color of their skin. They don't admire education (Sean Hannity is a college dropout but he waxes philosophical on things he can't even begin to comprehend), they are proudly intolerant and complain about the immorality of liberals but turn a blind eye to the misgiving of a conservative. Obama's not afraid of FOX News but he's afraid of the people that buy in to their rhetoric; these same people made several plans to kill him in 2008 just because they'd been to a rally and got riled up by politicians. People like that aren't wrapped too tight and you're supposed to be weary of them. Now, don't get me wrong: I dislike MSNBC and CNN just as much as I dislike FOX because they ALL lie to get their viewpoints across to their target audience. Keith Olbermann is no better (non-voting prick) than Mr. Falafel himself, Bill O'Reilly. They're all a mess. But don't come and blow smoke up our butts saying that FOX doesn't do propaganda; that's just an out and out lie. |

Celebrities / Re: Is Meagan Good Surgically Altered? by Travelista(f): 9:20pm On Jul 25, 2010 |
She's too pretty a girl to have such jacked up eyebrows. Anyway, her nose looks tweaked at the tip, her boobs were done at some point and her face looks waxy. Maybe it's Botox and/or overzealous chemical peels but something looks off. Her skin is gorgeous, though. |
Family / Re: My Husband Had A One Night Stand And The Girl Had A Baby by Travelista(f): 10:16pm On Jul 23, 2010 |
How normal is it to exchange e-mail addresses with 'one-off' humps, especially when you have a wife and kids at home? See, your husband was doing too much and got caught out there. He's got four kids and has the time to go clubbing (while you're at home with the kids?), get so plastered that he winds up in another woman's bed and then the condom breaks and he keeps pumping. You and the hubby should meet the woman (together!) and see if you can sort things out; you may discover that your husband has been lying about some important issues but you'll be able to deal with them once you take care of this woman and her child. |

Family / Re: Black Parents, White Blond Baby Not Albino (picture) by Travelista(f): 9:46pm On Jul 23, 2010 |
tpiah: Look at what mother? Unless she tells you she's of mixed ancestry, most would consider her a full Black woman. Has she told you otherwise? Why are you such a Arrow? I'm not bringing another damn thing for you; go drink bleach. You're talking about some looking to be more White than White people; look at you attributing known recessive genes to a couple that claims to have no White ancestry. The fact that you find it hard for an interracial couple to birth a blonde, blue-eyed baby but are gung ho about a (as you put it) 'pure' Black couple being more likely to do so shows your reasoning is non-existent. I repeat, you are a Arrow. Seriously, I can't believe YOU made the remark that light eyes are an indication of albinism and then go on to call me 's.tupid'. I say that's not always the case and I say so from personal experience. I was born gray-eyed and my eyes have since darkened. Does that make me an albino as well? You're still a waste of space; go and shine your crazy eyes on someone else. |
Family / Re: Black Parents, White Blond Baby Not Albino (picture) by Travelista(f): 4:20pm On Jul 23, 2010 |
tpiah: I have every right to get defensive when you try and put words in to my mouth; again, where did I say I was white-skinned, you crazy bat? If you rarely step out of your cave to see the wonders of the human race, that's not my problem; I KNOW blond biracial children exist whether you want to agree to it or not. Don't like what I post, skip it and go antagonize someone else, you harpy. You are so woefully ignorant, I can't imagine how you've made it through life so far. Talking about 'pure' this and '100%' that; what's wrong with you? Since I'm in a giving mood, here's a picture that was recently posted on NL; I'm sure you're still whinge about it but what else is new. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-311678.32.html You don't get it: biracial kids come in ALL SHADES! How you think an interracial couple can't create a blonde/blue-eyed child but think a 100% Black couple can is beyond mind boggling. An interracial couple is more likely to create a child like baby Nmachi than her parents are; how is that hard to understand? Look at you talking about light eyes in newborns being a sign of albinism; some just have lighter eyes that will either stay that way or darken. It doesn't mean that they are albinos. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 12:40am On Jul 23, 2010 |
pres-elect: No, I don't think any news outlet does their job; they seek to scare people into following certain ideologies and that's dangerous. I don't think anyone's worried about FOX News the channel; the thing that is worrisome is their viewers. This segment of society has bolstered a small political movement (the Tea Party) into a mobilized hate machine in a matter of MONTHS. Imagine the power they can wield by 2012. That's likely what's frightening Obama as it well should. You have to remember that the politicians that are the focal pieces for the Tea Baggers (they had to have known the other meaning for this. . . right? ) are people like Sarah Palin. The woman is as dumb as a box of rocks and is the movement's most visible ally; that should tell you something about the average American voter and seeing as we have an election coming up in a few months, it makes sense for Obama to tread lightly (his overreaction to the USDA issue ties in to keeping Middle America votes the same way the federal government suing AZ is a tactic to keep Latino votes). These are people that can't find Iraq on a map (they also struggle to name the 50 states of this union), don't know the difference between a Socialist and a Marxist and believe that White, Christian males are being marginalized in THEIR country, even though the back breaking labor used to pull the US to its current standard was all done on the backs of slaves, indentured servants and people interned in concentration camps (I'm sure you know our proud history regarding those). So, yes. Obama is afraid of what FOX News can do but for cogent reasons. That still doesn't explain his soft stance on immigration or other important issues but he's a politician and no different from the rest. I truly believe he went into the White House with every intention of fulfilling his campaign promises but he's since learned that the President doesn't have as much power as has been previously thought. |

tpiah: Tpiah, are you sane? I've said that I'm biracial and dark and that not all mixed people look the same; how you get me calling myself white-skinned (after I've expressly said I'm dark) beats me. And then you proceed to ask if I've ever seen a black baby before. When people questioned your sanity, I've actually stood up for you and now you're shining your crazy eye in my direction. Stop while you're ahead, Ma. I'm not going to waste my time looking for pictures of biracial blondes for you; they exist whether or not your acknowledge their existence. I forget that not everyone lives in a heterogeneous society; I'm actually surprised that people think light-eyes are an indicator of albinism and that all mixed people are caramel colored with dark hair and eyes. |

This is the first time I'm reading that the man's mother is blue-eyed; the chances of him having a child with the same trait is there. On the other hand, blue eyes in old age are also a sign of high cholesterol. |

Fashion / Re: Zara, H&M : In Lagos ?! by Travelista(f): 4:36pm On Jul 22, 2010 |
OP, I think what you have in mind is great. Your money wouldn't only come from Nigerian girls; remember, there is also a large expat community in Nigeria with cash to burn. You want to make sure that those with disposable income are your regulars; the flash in the pan folks should never be your bread and butter. I like the idea of H&M seeing as their goods aren't expensive and they feature of the moment trends but it might put off older clientele. Zebra543's right though: you should focus on a brand that doesn't cater specifically to the younger crowd. I wish Nigeria had a Saks or Neiman's; they'd pull in money hand over fist. I think Harvey Nichols' location in the Middle East is a franchise; maybe you could bring a recognized department store to Lagos through a partnership? That way, you have something for everyone. Either way, good luck and keep us posted. If I'm in Nigeria at the time, I'd love to come for the opening! 1 Like |

Tink_sh: Hun, I don't even know where to start with this. The bold is a blanket statement yet you're complaining of ignorance. Amazing. Not all mixed kids are caramel in complexion, dark-eyed or brown haired; I know I'm not. As I've said before, mixed kids come in shades from the whitest of whites to deepest ebony and everything in between; stop forcing your misconceptions on people. I keep asking and haven't received an answer: why do people think it impossible for a White/Black coupling to produce this beautiful little girl but consider it feasible for a Black couple to do so? |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 11:57am On Jul 22, 2010 |
That's because Republicans and Democrats are 2 sides of the same coin. FOX News is scary but so is CNN and MSNBC; they're all out to push propaganda instead of doing their actual jobs which is to present the news without bias. To me, the issue with Sherrod and the USDA is one of the most telling of incidents; the Obama Administration has started to believe their own hype and it will backfire come election time. And it doesn't help that we have people like Nancy Pelosi in power; it makes me laugh that Dems hated Tom DeLay because he was brash but they love Pelosi even though she's even worse. I'm sure Sec. Clinton is watching all of this and smiling to herself; all she has to do is sit tight and watch the house of cards tumble down. |

sjeezy8: I never said people from DMV consider themselves Southerners; I was making a statement on the side of the Mason-Dixon you claimed to be from. I don't even get how you got confused on that front. Also, I didn't call the whole DMV ghetto; I said YOU sounded ghetto and reminded me of street folks. Talk about no child left behind. Last time I was in DC, the place was a junkyard with a few places that were actually habitable; the White House is located in one of the few decent areas of the town. DC elected a known crackhead as mayor not once but twice and you're here trying to act brand new. Just stop. Maryland doesn't have the highest income in the US; it's either New Jersey or some other Northeast state. Either way, how does it explain you sounding like a kid from around the way? Is sounding like a character from The Boondocks what's hot in the streets? Really, I'd like to know. And, yes, some girls use concealer on their eyebrows and when most do it, they're trying to cover the fact that their eyebrows aren't on point. Either you're beyond basic or your girlfriend is too cheap to buy highlighter; do you know how thick most concealers are? Why would you use something that would clog your pores just to accentuate your cheekbones? Besides, if you're using concealer and I can tell, you've failed. There's nothing attractive about too-light, poorly blended make-up. I still think it's strange that you know so much about make-up. Like I said, you sound like Nigeria's answer to Kevyn Aucoin. Two snaps and a twist, honey! |
Celebrities / Re: Nollywood’s New Look – E4 Pr Stars – Females by Travelista(f): 2:46pm On Jul 21, 2010 |
sjeezy8: You're a slowpoke. Concealer isn't used to bring out your eyes; it's meant to 'conceal' just as the name implies. What kind of broke down broads are you chasing that don't know the difference between concealer and highlighter? Stop the madness and stay in your lane; I can't even believe a man is arguing with women about make-up. Talk about wrist broke. sjeezy8: Interesting. You were born near the Mason-Dixon line? You must have been born/raised near the ghetto because the only people I know that talk the way you just did are street people. No offense but it is what it is. You must be from the DMV (or even worse, Pennsylvania) because I have never heard a Southerner refer to themselves as 'East Coast'. |

Don't they need the mother's permission before they can perform a DNA test on the baby? Also, the father has said that he doesn't want/need one. One thing that's apparent is that some people failed BIO 101 in high school. |

Family / Re: Black Parents, White Blond Baby Not Albino (picture) by Travelista(f): 7:31pm On Jul 20, 2010 |
Crownvilla: Why do people keep saying this? What are 'mixed-race features'? If the baby's father is White, she could still be the color she is now; biracial children come in every shade of the rainbow. I'm baffled that there are people arguing the possibility of a White/Black union creating a White child but are freely accepting of a Black/Black couple (one that professes to have NO White ancestry) having a blond-haired, blue-eyed baby. |
Family / Re: Black Parents, White Blond Baby Not Albino (picture) by Travelista(f): 7:02pm On Jul 20, 2010 |
Siena: Being mixed doesn't guarantee a certain color. I'm biracial and dark; people only question my heritage when they notice my hair or eyes. To be honest, if these two don't have any White ancestry or even a history of fair skin in their family, then something is off. Either Mommie stepped out on Daddy, there was a baby mix up at the hospital or this truly is a scientific anomaly. But, to be fair: aren't all babies born lighter skinned and eyed and then darken over time? |

precap2: No, try again. YOU mentioned the 'general good' being more important than the law. I said otherwise. 'General good' is separating known criminals from the rest of society; following the law, means these same criminals are entitled to due process. Again, where is the 'general good' considered a law? What makes you think this situation falls under your unenforceable 'general good'? |
