Romance / Re: Why Don't You African Girls Like To Date Black-american Guys? by Travelista(f): 12:32am On Aug 21, 2010
Jeez, this thread is full of ignorant stereotypes! I'm Nigerian and dated a Black guy once. He was really sweet, intelligent, good looking and his pants were held up by a belt. Things just didn't work out and it has nothing to do with him being African-American. The same ones that will be up in arms if someone calls Naijas scammers are in here calling Blacks ghetto.

where did you get the facts that he couldn't manage the Yele foundation?

And when is it the business of a government to determine who should contest or not contest for a position,

From these links you posted, it clear you know how to use a search engine. Look for articles on Wyclef and how he's been using Yele funds. As for when it's a government's business as to who gets to contest elections, it's always been that way. Whether it's an elimination process based on residency, citizenship or age, there have always been parameters in place. If Jean doesn't fit those rules, then he's out. Besides, the guy is an assclown.
Foreign Affairs / Re: U.S. Officials Kills Deal To Rebuild Church Near Ground Zero by Travelista(f): 12:11am On Aug 21, 2010
Ok, these people are disgusting. They tried to needle extra money out of tax payers and got shot down LAST YEAR; now, they're screaming bloody murder as if they've just recently been turned down. Look at some of the things they were demanding: they wanted more than the $60 million dollars offered and the plans for nearby construction. What on earth made them think they were allowed to see those in the first place? And now, they're holding up their banner and crying, 'Oh, we're a little church, don't forget us!' Too bad, so sad. They were greedy and ended up empty-handed. I'm sure they collected from their insurance company and they can hold bake sales and fundraisers. Better yet, they can call greek Orthodox and Democrat Alexei Giannoulias and hit him up for a loan; his quick to hand those out.
Politics / Re: Breaking News: Wyclef Denied Run For President Of Haiti by Travelista(f): 11:46pm On Aug 20, 2010
Investments aren't enough to turn around a country as out of shape as Haiti. Wyclef can't even account for his own funds; how do you think he'll handle Haiti's money? He had problems running The Fugees, he had/has problems running Yele and he'll have even bigger problems running an entire nation that is desperate for sound leadership. He can't even tell the truth about his residency: one minute, he's exempt, the next he's met the requirement. He needs to bow out gracefully.

I like that satchel bag the girl in the first picture has. The white quilted "chanel" purse. I can't find it online though

I don't know why this made me laugh; maybe it's because CHANEL's in quotes. Did you try tPF? If you can't find it there, it probably isn't real; those girls (and guys!) are fiends when it comes to spotting legit v. fake.
Family / Re: Help! My Husband Has A Child Elsewhere by Travelista(f): 4:10pm On Aug 20, 2010

@ travelista and thweraja. i agree this is not the best place for Advice. the DNA hasnot been done yet and as such, we havenot included any family member in this. i just wanted you guys to advice me while i await the result of the test should in case it proves him to the biological father of the baby

Rubi gave good advice about the mother: don't be her friend and don't be her enemy. Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, she is competition as she's the mother of your husband's first child. I understand that you are the wife but we women can be wily at times; ensure that your husband let's this woman know her place because if she's playing games already, I see you two in for a roller coaster ride. As for the kids involved, do what's best for YOU and your family; you don't have to bring the child in to your home (unless the mother wants to give up parental rights) and your children don't need to be the best of buds. They should know about their older sibling but anything more, is up for you to decide. I've seen instances like this where the other woman strong arms her way back into the picture and the legal wife is left as an outsider looking in. I know this sounds harsh but you have to remember you have a family and marriage to protect.

If she can't respect that. . .please, talk to elders about this. I'm entering territory that I have no right to enter. They'll have a wealth of experience from their gray hairs alone. You really need someone that knows your and your hubby to guide you through this journey. I really wish you two the best and if you're religious, pray. Not just you alone but with your spouse. PRAY sincerely and do it often.
Family / Re: Gay Vicar, 65, To 'marry' Nigerian Male Model Half His Age by Travelista(f): 3:48pm On Aug 20, 2010
Wow, love is really blind because Bobby. . .is hurt in the face. Yikes! Anyway, I knew it was only a matter of time before gay couples begin to seek church blessings for their marriages.

What I do find strange is how the CoE allows gay clergy but demands that they remain celibate. Why allow them if you're going to treat them differently than their straight counterparts?
Family / Re: Help! My Husband Has A Child Elsewhere by Travelista(f): 3:43pm On Aug 20, 2010
He's known about this child for this long and is just mentioning it? Good luck with that. As was previously posted, this isn't the place to ask for advice. Talk to those you trust (men AND women; like men aren't capable of being misleading. . .that's what started this mess) and get their advice. I really pray that you and your husband can get past this and do what's right for both of your families.

olas2u:

If you live in Nigeria ,then the woman will have all equal rights ,even if you have ten kids and she as one,if anything happens to your hubby without a will, she can contest it with you ,if she as a crook and good lawyer, they can take home some tangible ,am not a lawyer but i have seen it happen so many times. You have to allow the kid to grow up in a welcoming environment and not an outcast.

What?! A side piece has equal rights with a wife and her legitimate children?
Romance / Re: Makeup Palaver! by Travelista(f): 3:38pm On Aug 20, 2010
You're both immature. You're having a tiff. . .over make-up. Flaring up, ignoring calls, hanging up on each other. . .over make-up. Let that sink in for a moment and then ask yourself how you'll react when you have issues over serious matters like money, faith, children, how to manage a household, etc. Let me stop because I may be getting ahead of myself as this relationship sounds new and/or superficial. There's no crime in stating your preference but be prepared for a response that goes counter to your reasoning. I can't even imagine having a 'fight' over make-up; have mercy.

This is a murder case in which the police ought to charge the policeman involved to court but since they wanted to die off the case, the woman had no other alternative than to see justice from the court of law.I think a murder case would be established but don't know if they would get compensation in the end.

I'm more surprised that the police officer hasn't been criminally charged. The civil suit was bound to happen either way but the officer was out of his legal jurisdiction; he should be held on that at the very least. One good thing that can come out of this is legal precedence will have been set regarding holding officers (and their superiors) financially responsible when they gun down civilians.
Travel / Re: Air France Worst Customer Service. by Travelista(f): 10:13pm On Aug 19, 2010
Awww! Sorry to hear about your bad experience, OP. Air France is still my favorite (even though they've misplaced my luggage a few times) and I hope you haven't written them off due to one bad experience. Flying is stressful enough for passengers and crew members, so why not go with the flow? Worried about straying bags? Pack a day's worth of clothes in your carry-on along with essentials. Flight delayed? No prob! Whip out the iPod, laptop & mobile broadband card, puzzle book, knitting or whatever and let the time fly. Overbooked flight? If your dates are flexible, take the hotel and food voucher they offer you and get on the next flight. I always laugh when I see people huff and puff in the airport like it will make the person behind the counter change their mind or bend policy on an individual basis. Be courteous, especially when you're in the wrong, and things should go over better.

They have a good case already but the modalities they employ would actually determine the success of the case anyways i can't to see the policeman to be executed by firing squad.

Execution? Wait, is there also a criminal case going on?

Winning a case has nothing to do with sympathy but your presentation and the effectiveness of your counsel. .don't be surprised if the policeman regain his freedom provided his lawyer could outsmart the plaintiff's lawyer.

It shouldn't but it can work, especially if the child is young and cute enough. Besides, the officer that killed the boy's father: wasn't he out of his jurisdiction or do state police in Nigeria cross state lines with impunity?

Aloy+Emeka:

Because she wants to win by hook or crook. If you are in Nigeria, you will understand that it is not easy to go after this men of the underworld and if she is lucky not to get assassinated before the judgment, she deserves a win thereof. Her use of the little boy is a legal tactic and it's not as if the boy will be involved all through the proceeding except if they want to cross examine him on how he feels after the demise of his father. Remember this is a civil suit and not a criminal one.

I know she wants to win at all costs; that's why I said she's using her son to gain sympathy from the court. If the mother can be killed what makes her son safe? I don't think this case has anything to do with fear but about collecting big bucks, end of story.

maybe if you were the victim of the madness of teh murderous men in black you'd think differently

reponsible law abiding nigerians are being murdered everyday by these bastards and you're mouthing off about 'garnering sympathy' angry

I beg your pardon? I asked why a FOUR YEAR OLD is named as the plaintiff in this case and you're equating it to me diminishing the atrocities imposed upon Nigerians? Seriously? The mother filed on his behalf for a reason and that's to ensure that they win that settlement.
Politics / Re: 4-yr Old Boy Sues Police IG by Travelista(f): 7:40pm On Aug 19, 2010
Why doesn't the widow just file the case on her own and not use her child to garner sympathy from the court? angry
Foreign Affairs / Re: U.S. Officials Kills Deal To Rebuild Church Near Ground Zero by Travelista(f): 7:37pm On Aug 19, 2010
I'm confused: are they trying to rebuild the church, relocate it or both? And what does this have to do with the mosque 'near' Ground Zero if the deal fell apart last year? There has to be more to the story.

Kobojunkie:

uummm . . . Is it possible that your shallow view of this causes you not to see that those in support KNOW what you probably think is news to them? I happen to watch greg's show often and KNOW exactly what he means. If you have ever seen the show you would also know that being GAY is not far from his show and his whole show can be considered a GAY SHOW.

You do know that there are gay republicans out there, right? I am asking because I don't know what the FOX angle there means to you. Are you suggesting that Gay folks don't watch FOX? Or because this man is on Fox he cannot be a GAY GUY? Have you seen him ?? ROFLMAO!!

"You Mecca Me Hot"
ROFLMAO!!

What my 'shallow view'? Just because he's campy doesn't make him gay; I'm sure his wife would agree with me. As for knowing about gay Republicans, who said I don't know of their existence? For someone that acts as if they're beyond open and cosmopolitan, you're little more than a hateful human being; imagine complaining about equality for all in one thread and then laughing at passive aggressive behavior towards another minority group in another.
