Aloy_Emeka: But bargaining doesn't change the behavior. Look at her arms; she's covered in hematomas and we have no idea what the damage is like under her wrapper. That's unacceptable and shows the ex-Deji (how shameful is it to actually have to type something like that?) lacks control/sense. If he doesn't get the chance to Ike Turner his ex-wife, he'll do it to the next woman in his life. The next woman may not be lucky enough to escape with her life. I'd love to hear the ex-Deji's response to all of this. |

Ileke-IdI: I feel terrible! I had no idea that the picture was taken in the hospital; I only saw the tiny snapshot in the OP. Oh, I feel awful; poor thing. That's what her husband did to her? He's disgusting and should be buried up to his neck and stoned. |

*stares at picture* Did she really let them take a picture of her in her hair net? *takes deep breath* She needs to sit down; she probably just misses the privileges of being Queen and rationalizes that a few love taps are worth being fawned over. I'm still mad at that picture of her; all she's missing is chewing stick fragments around her mouth to complete the portrait. |

deniyor: His citizenship isn't important in the way you think; it's an issue of whether he's telling the truth. If he starts out the relationship with a lie, then he has to continue to support the previous fib. The main thing is that he's a man she met on Craigslist and (unfortunately) Nigerian men have a bad rep in this country; it's a shame but it is what it is. She has to protect herself and I suggested googling the guy but PinkRiver says she's tried to no avail. I really wish some of you men would stop being so sensitive and be rational. She's met a man on a portal that has been the stomping ground of men looking to kill women; I'm going to be worried whether the man is Nigerian, Apache, German or from the lost city of Atlantis. It's the decent thing to do, so stop acting as if you've been personally slapped and give the girl some useful advice. Damn! |
Romance / Re: At The Verge Of Break Up by Travelista(f): 7:15pm On Aug 03, 2010 |
kobikwelu: No, that's your reality. Not everyone is going to feel the way that you do. What people are describing is hooking, plain and simple. Morality has nothing to do with the issue other than one person mentioned it and others parroted it back; some even repeated the sentiment word for word and I think that's hilarious but it goes off topic, so let's leave that alone. The OP is nothing more than a challenge to this guy; she should save herself the heartache and embarrassment and leave while she still can. |

CyberG: 'Travelstupid' abi? So, because you felt attacked because you're a foreigner, a Yoruba guy or possibly a scammer that tries to lure in girls through charm, you decided to attack me for giving my opinion? So be it. While you're foaming at the mouth, acting as if I anally assaulted you, why don't you go and swallow broken glass? You're worried about the OP taking a stranger's advice but you (in the very same sentence, no less) rush to do the same. You're a slowpoke and I doubt you've accomplished anything in your useless life. Why don't you research Craigslist and see if that's a place you'd find a legitimate relationship? She has every right to be weary of the guy and I stated that. I also said that it's better for her and David to have a misunderstanding over his intentions than for her to lament down the road; did you even see that part or was your desire to exert your masculinity too much for you to control? You brought nothing to the conversation but confusion; go back to your life of bogus advanced degrees and legal profits. @ Deniyor: if you don't get why David's citizenship would be important, then I don't know what to tell you. If he lies about something so simple, what won't he lie about? How does PinkRiver know the man isn't trying to lull her into a relationship under false pretenses? And, yes: 'akata' is a condescending word for Black Americans. In all my years, I have never heard that word used as a term of endearment, so don't even go that route. |

Wow, there are a lot of low-life men and loose women on the prowl! So, because a man spends money on me, I'm expected to give up the goods? I'll let a man spend his whole paycheck on me and THEN ignore his phone calls. Know why? Because I can. If you feel that spending money on a woman equals getting your rocks off, you aren't dating but soliciting. Looking through this thread. . .so many people are exposing themselves for the world to see. Just a mess. OP, the guy isn't serious. He wants to plow but hasn't purchased the field; na by force? Either his balls will burst from frustration or he'll respect your beliefs and wife you; if he can't do the latter, be on your way, my dear. The man is beyond barbaric and not worth the energy it took for you to create this thread; listen to your mother. |

Romance / Re: Need Your Advice: by Travelista(f): 5:30pm On Aug 03, 2010 |
Carol, Iice's advice is the most solid so far. If the company/utility won't let you cancel because of an automatic payment scheme, talk to a manager/supervisor that can advise you. There has to be a way to get that bill in your name, especially since he no longer lives in the home with you. If all else fails, I'd take out an order of protection against the ex and have a copy sent to the billing department; that should help in getting the bill put directly in your name and solve the issue of the ex and his 'you're mine' attitude. As for the ex, don't take him back and anyone that tries to tell you that men cheat and it's in their nature. . .bull. Last time I checked, it's in my nature to avoid sharing cock and (potentially) life threatening diseases, so leave those excuses about infidelity for the birds; only a weak individual would even fall in to that line of thinking anyway and what does that do for you? Not a damn thing. Protect your heart, health and sanity; if your ex endangers any of those (or, God forbid, more than one) he's not worth the energy. I can't believe he's upset that you're with another man; talk about selfish! He was enjoying himself and dipping outside your relationship but now that you're possibly happy with someone else, he's got his hackles up! Dude is nothing more than toxic and you should avoid his type like the plague. He's probably disturbed that your aren't pining away over him and wants to maintain his hold on you. RUN, girl! |

pinkriver: 'Akata' means Black American and it's meant to be condescending; if anyone tells you otherwise, they're lying. As for your safety: be cautious until you're fully aware of who you're dealing with. 'He seems to say and do all the right things'? PinkRiver, you're making me very nervous right about now. At the very least, Google the guy and/or find out if he's really a citizen. If you find anything off about him, I'd say END IT; if he's started misrepresenting himself so early on, things aren't likely to get better down the road. Depending on where you live, you shouldn't have a hard time finding a genuine African man (if that's what you want). You have to be really careful in a situation like this and I don't mean to scare you; for all we know, David might really want to find a woman to settle down with and settle down quick but you have to protect your neck in situations like these. Having a misunderstanding because you were unsure of his initial intentions is better than nursing a bottle of Grey Goose in a dark corner because you were taken for a ride by a charming man. As they say in Nigeria, 'Make you shine your eye well-well o!' |

You met David on CL? Girl, RED FLAG!!! You're worried about him being a scammer because he's Nigerian; how about worrying that he'll slit your throat because he could be a maniac you met on CRAIGSLIST! No offense but how desperate were you to actually meet a dude off that site AFTER all of the media blitzes surrounding those CL murders? I want to slap you and hug you at the same time. Ugh. Now that that's out of the way, if you still think David's (for some reason, this is ringing a bell in my head and I don't know why) the man for you, then take it easy. To be fair, David being American-born doesn't make him American as we understand it; as in, he may not see things the way a kid raised in the US would. You say he was raised in Nigeria and I think that will play a part in how he approaches you and the subsequent relationship. Don't worry about how his family will respond right now but focus on how the two of you get along. As time progresses, get to know his family. Be weary if anyone refers to you as 'akata'; if you hear that. . .have fun while you still can, I guess. |

I'm sorry but where did the bride ever mention how close a relationship existed between the two men? If the two weren't close and the groom still canceled the wedding, I think that's bogus as all get out. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 12:12am On Aug 01, 2010 |
*sigh* David, really. Just stop. The article says they are 'expected' to deport these people; things happen and folks can be held in USCIS custody for ages. When those 400,000 extra people are on their home soil, then the Obama Administration can rest on their laurels and talk about their 'tough' stance on immigration. Until then, no dice. And grow up with the 'right wing'/'left wing' crap; you're too smart to fall in to such pitfalls. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 1:03am On Jul 29, 2010 |
David, just sit down. Really. The original topic was about chicken Democrats and eventually evolved in to something else. The comments about Sherrod and Pelosi were two separate thoughts and you know it; what's wrong with you? Did you just want a chance to take your own shots or were you really confused about what I posted? Under Obama, the federal government has filed a lawsuit against AZ due to their immigration legislation. Instead of enforcing the federal laws that are already on the books, they're worried about not hurting peoples feelings. To me, that's called being 'soft'. SlyFoxxJoe, please, just go back to drinking. No one cares about your little video and it's misconceptions. Really, Obama and the Bilderberg group? Do you know how many politicians owe allegiance to these societies? Republicans and Democrats are the same people with different names; most of these people that are yelling at each other on The Hill are good friends once work is over. They get it but society doesn't. |

Omo Ibo: thanks for the advice but this punk is just running his mouth and showing his 'interlect'. I choose to keep poking fun at his parents' failure and expose him for the fraud that he is. I had no problem with him until he decided to put words in mouth and be cute by saying I was providing points for them to 'punch' me with. I do not appreciate words like that, especially coming from a so-called man towards a woman; a man expressing violence towards a woman is never funny or acceptable. It's unbecoming and shows that instead of focusing on the issues, he wanted to make a backwards dig. I caught it and addressed it. He went further and decided to call me a 'cu.nt'. All bets were off at that point and I took it out on the one that failed to raise him with class and that's his slut mother. I stand by my statements but I respect you trying to be a mediator. Thank you. slyfoxxjoe: Brandy, ko? You have no education and your posts show that. You were just talking about FOX viewers being the voice of the majority of Americans, right? Well, if (according to your stats) 80% of Americans are dumb, where does that place YOU and the other voices of America? You're just a waste of space and I blame your slut mother. She (and your father, if you know him) failed at raising a decent human being. You couldn't even address me directly when saying you were going to punch me; is that how men behave these days? Act bitchmade and make passive aggressive statements towards women? On an anonymous message board? Stand tall and stand firm but if you start to waver, believe me, I'll be ready to give you a swift kick behind the knees. I despise weak men with a passion and seeing your inability to use logic and basic commonsense is just nauseating. Please, keep drinking your 'brandy' (is that what they are calling local kai kai now?) and showing your 'interlect'; a real man would have been able to express himself without threatening violence against a woman but you're trash and a husk of what represents real manhood. Instead of hating Obama, why don't you get take FOX's balls out of your mouth, get off your knees and be about something prosperous and positive for once in your abortive life? |

slyfoxxjoe: Abeg, comot make we hear word! You've been to six states out of 50 and that makes you a scholar on American politics? Goodness, look at the reincarnation of Henry Kissinger schooling people on Nairaland! You're talking about getting personal when you posted that I'm giving you points to punch me with. If you want to speak to me like a man, expect me to answer you like one and hit you where it hurts. I know what I'm talking about because I know what I studied during my undergrad years. Get at me when you can talk with adults. You need to wake up and get real instead of posting bogus videos (you think Obama's the only one with ties to secret societies? You need a mental evaluation, Fox.) You reside in the UK yet are telling me (someone that has spent my entire life in this country) how things work. Where the hell do they do that, huh? I'm glad you've noticed me showing my lack of 'interlect'; yes, 'interlect'. The irony is just too much. If I'm a 'cu.nt' so is your slut mother. Seriously, she should have accepted your father's money and swallowed instead of cursing the earth with your bastardly presence . Please, kill yourself because no man worth his testicles would get act as bitchmade as you just have. Stop arguing about things you don't understand and try and get an education. I mean that in all honesty. |

slyfoxxjoe: You're proud (as a so-called man) to use the phrase '[t]his Travelista babe is just giving us more points to punch her with'? I shouldn't even mess with a neanderthal like you but I'll try to set you straight (once again) on putting words in my mouth. Obama didn't sack anyone; Sherrod resigned. Anyone else would have stood their ground (if you don't know, it's virtually impossible to fire a government employee because they can petition to get their job back and they usually do). You're showing your naivete if you think any politician/person in power doesn't owe favors to those that place them on top. Why do you think Halliburton and Blackwater were getting no-bid contracts? Do you remember who Dick Cheney was before he became VP? Try and educate yourself; watch FOX News and lie to yourself but don't do it to other people. It shows a lack of character. NO PRESIDENT since Reagan has had any actual power; even W. had to answer to a gang of brigands. Obama will be no different and that just the way the cookie crumbles. I really wonder where you live to make such assumptions about Obama and remain blind to how the other side works; I truly doubt you even live in this country because you sound like someone lamenting the problems of snow while living in the Sahara. Really, what 'America' do you live in to think that FOX doesn't push propaganda? You don't think continually saying 'Obama is bad' and 'liberals are (fill in the blank)!' isn't a form of propaganda? Really?! Wherever you got your degree (if you even have one), please let me know so that I can avoid their other 'graduates' like the plague. I can't even believe a 'man' is writing stuff like this. Lord, help us. Which one is it? FOX News represents America or represents people that don't agree with Obama? Think long and hard about that because you are describing two different situation. I fully support every side having their own outlet but when they step outside their actual role of reporting the news without bias, then I complain. I've complained about FOX, I've complained about MSNBC and CNN; they are corporate shills that are more interested in protecting their personal interests and not reporting the news. Remember the American that was beheaded in the Middle East? Nick Berg? The news (on both sides) refused to report that he'd been in contact with Moussaoui; it took an outsider source to do so before the majors would touch the story. Why would a contractor have contact with a known terror suspect? Don't believe everything you see and hear. I've said the Obama Administration is believing their own hype and it's a mistake. Why can't you be objective as well? |

montelik: Where did I blame FOX for Sherrod getting thrown under the bus? I've said that Obama and co. did it to protect votes. You can revise history all you want but FOX News was an extension of the Bush Administration and they held that position for 8 years. The channel was used to demonize any and everything that wasn't Christian, Conservative and Republican; Karl Rove had a VERY special relationship with FOX and both sides craved the attention. Dan Rather reported the news a la Deep Throat. However he got the information should have been dealt with after the information had been assessed; instead, the paper trail was swept away to protect Bush and his mythical military career. The man went AWOL and last time I checked, that's punishable with jail time. I'm not projecting anything, so miss me with your faux outrage. I watch FOX News; I'd be a fool to complain about it without having due cause. I've heard several hosts talk about how their position (that of the White, Christian male) is being jeopardized. Hell, I believe it was a conversation between O'Reilly and McCain and I remember thinking 'Are these men seriously saying this on broadcast television?' Here you go again with the 'disbelief' with your 'Wow'. Seriously, learn how to read and not skim. Where exactly did I say that Hannity being a drop out is indicative of FOX's educational beliefs? I was talking about their viewers. Go back and read what I wrote before you come and get hella smart over something that went completely over your head. 'Wow' indeed. Assassination attempts are news to you? If FOX is your only news source, then I'm not surprised by this in the least. Obama's life was threatened several times in 2008 and those people were picked up; where exactly were you to have missed what was allover (most) news sources? To say otherwise means you really don't know about the attempts, are being intentionally obtuse or flat out lying. http://scholarship.law.cornell.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1063&context=clsops_papers http://www.wsoctv.com/news/17135543/detail.html http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_10365463 I'm sure you can find more links if you were to actually try instead of taking the Denver plot featuring White Supremacists and applying it to all Obama assassination attempts. I don't even know why I'm bothering with you; you're no different from someone that quote Olbermann or Maddow like they're the Gospels. |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Fox News And The Chicken Democrats by Travelista(f): 4:35pm On Jul 26, 2010 |
slyfoxxjoe: You didn't answer my question. Why is that? Is it because you didn't/don't see first hand what FOX News does dish out propaganda? Maybe you don't know this but fewer and fewer people are getting their news from papers, television and the radio; if you can get numbers like Glenn Beck does, it's impressive because it's a dying medium and NOT because it's the voice of a nation. I already stated why Obama overreacted to that Sherrod mess; it's in the first few posts, so read that and see if you can comprehend what's going on. Obama's concerned about keeping votes and not stepping on toes; this is not the Bush era where you can bully and push to achieve results. Bush could be a terror because he and his party were one and the same on the surface; the goals of Obama don't coincide with the votes of mainline liberals and that's always going to be an issue. I'm getting the impression you don't know the actual powers of the U.S. President; I really hope you go back and research it because the power Bush wielded was unprecedented. I can't think of any other leader (since Nixon) that had such a blatant disregard for the Constitution and the legal processes of this land. Obama's a highly trained attorney; he knows what he can and can't do. He also knows people are waiting for him to make a legal slip up, so he's treading with caution. I think he's being overcautious at times but his reasons are best known to him. On a lighter note, you really don't know what you're talking about if you say news agencies are independent entities. Do you realize that every major news outlet in this country is a subsidiary of one of only 5 corporations? How unbiased do you think a news outlet will be under such circumstances? General Electric owns NBC and receives massive government defense contracts; do you think they'd ever speak out against a war? Let's be real here. Also, I'm so tired of people thinking Freedom of Speech means you can say anything you damn well please with impunity. |
